No doubt it will come to both consoles. I just wonder what upgrades there will be on the new console.

Found a security bug in LMDE6, need some help (i.imgur.com)

I have an older Intel laptop that has a 1600x900 display, and I find that if I put the machine to sleep, connect an external monitor with a higher resolution, and then turn it back on, the login screen doesn’t adjust to the new resolution and it reveals what I had open (see photo)....

@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Go ahead and report it to the Mint team. Even if it is an issue upstream, they will verify the issue and then report it as well. Never hesitate to report a bug you find, especially if it’s a security or privacy issue.

Even if the bug is a duplicate, it helps to know other people are having the same issue. At worst they will mark your report as a duplicate, which will let you know they are aware of the issue.

I think the FOV was for controller gameplay based on the controller glyphs shown on the screen. I would hope that the FOV would be configurable on PC at the least.

Voytrekk ,
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

How so? It’s just a controller that is just the most standard for PC because Microsoft fully implemented the drivers in Windows.

Voytrekk ,
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Almost every emulator lets you remap buttons on your controller. There is nothing that stops you from mapping the buttons based on position instead of what the face button says. There are also plenty of controllers you can use on PCs that have the Nintendo layout.

A PR disaster: Microsoft has lost trust with its users, and Windows Recall is the straw that broke the camel's back (www.windowscentral.com)

It’s a nightmare scenario for Microsoft. The headlining feature of its new Copilot+ PC initiative, which is supposed to drive millions of PC sales over the next couple of years, is under significant fire for being what many say is a major breach of privacy and security on Windows. That feature in question is Windows Recall, a...

That will rely on businesses moving away from Windows. That is where they make a ton of their money with Enterprise licenses and Office 365 subscriptions.

Can you turn the screens off? I haven’t flown in 5 years, but I just watched stuff off of my tablet instead.

They don’t want them for raw numbers, they have plenty of people who are able to become pilots. They need the intel to help catch them up to and counter western countries. This is something that has been ongoing forever, just the countries change.

I left for Linux because Windows bad, stayed on Linux because Linux good.

Voytrekk ,

Both are fine. Ufw has a set of applications that are defined in terms of what ports they need for convenience. You wouldn’t have to know that 3389 is for RDP, you could just allow RDP. Ufw ultimately modifies the iptables, it is just another interface for interacting with it.

ChatGPT Answers Programming Questions Incorrectly 52% of the Time: Study (gizmodo.com)

Just like answers on the Internet, you have to read the output and not just paste it blindly. I find the answers are usually useful, even if they aren’t completely accurate. Figuring out the last bit is why we are paid as programmers.

Just because it’s the richest country on the planet doesn’t mean the wealth is spread evenly.

That’s GDP per capital. I’m talking about total wealth, which is about a third of the world’s total wealth.

PlayStation official response to Helldivers 2 fans (nitter.poast.org)

Frustrating that they made the decision in the first place. I’m still skeptical about their games in the future.

I don’t think your math is correct. There are 946,728,000 seconds in 30 years. That would mean they made just over a dollar per second, which is still pretty insane.

It’s said that companies can’t understand that pirating a game should be a worse experience, not a better one. I’m at the point where I only buy games on steam or gog. Any other launcher is a pain in the ass.

Alaska is hard because there are so many cities/towns that aren’t a available with a road. Plenty of communities served by boat/plane only.

I’ve been waiting for this update for a while since GE doesn’t do wine 9.0 builds.

Unable to install updates on Nobara 38 b/c the operation would result in removing the following protected packages: nobara-amdgpu-config [SOLVED]

I’m trying to install system updates on my gaming PC, which runs on Nobara 38. Typically I’d accomplish this in the command line by issuing dnf upgrade, but it refuses to update because doing so would remove the protected package nobara-amdgpu-config. Trying –skip-broken produces the same result....

Voytrekk ,
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Seems you already fixed it, but in general the system should be updated with nobara-sync or dnf distrosync. Sometimes he will downgrade packages so it’s best to just have it synced up with the same versions upstream.

The beta starts soon but this game doesn’t give me much hope. It’s a cool idea to combine all of the heroes, but it’s being made by NetEase. The combat also didn’t feel very impactful and the environments felt a bit bare.

Marvel copy of an existing game developed by NetEase? Nope

It’s like when Apple says iPhone n is the fastest iPhone ever created at their announcement event. I would certainly hope so.

Voytrekk ,
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

I think most people are just used to Window’s BS, so these issues are just expected and they know how to fix them.

Linux has an easier experience getting up and running, but when they have an issue, usually it’s something completely different from what they have experienced before and get frustrated.

This is why mainline OEMs shipping computers with Linux by default will be a huge step forward.

Seems like a way of saying deleting the app without deleting your data. I guess most users must not be regularly pruning unused apps to make this a desired feature.

I don’t particularly care for Epic, but this is some gatekeeping bullshit from Apple.

I think the biggest issue for me was how large the map was. They did the castle and hogsmede very well, but then threw in a bunch of filler content in the other towns. If they had stuck to the more core areas only, the game wouldn’t have gotten so stale later on.

Voytrekk ,
@Voytrekk@lemmy.world avatar

Sure, more room is nice, but the map could have been 1/3rd the size and still have a good sense of speed with it. A better option would have been to put in some fun mini games with the broom, but that would have been required then to make flying the broom more engaging.

Those updates in Discover are for flatpak, not dnf. You can verify that with flatpak update.

As for discover wanting to restart to do their update, that’s a fedora thing for an extra level of safety while updating. You can read about it here.

I finished up Guardians of the Galaxy this past weekend, which I enjoyed. Nothing world shattering but a solid title. I’m on a sports game kick right now, so I decided to start a franchise in Madden 23. I would have gone with 24, but it doesn’t seem to work on Linux.

GNOME Sees Progress On Variable Refresh Rate Setting, Adding Battery Charge Control (www.phoronix.com)

As pointed out in This Week in GNOME, there’s been some continued work on Variable Rate Refresh for the GNOME desktop. The developers have been discussing how to...

Voytrekk ,

The lack of VRR in GNOME is what had me change to KDE. I prefer GNOME in many ways, but I was tired of having to use the vrr patches to keep the functionality.

Voytrekk ,

I used it previously. I never had crashes because of it, but it would mean I would have to wait for the aur packages to be updated before I could upgrade to the next iteration of GNOME.
