They are acting like every other group of people who was given special status. History is littered with the same cautionary tale. You cannot give any group of people special protections over another. It will always end in the group abusing their power for their own gain. Saddam did it in Iraq, Al-Assad did it in Syria, all of the colonial powers did it in Africa and those are just recent examples.

There’s also a zero state solution, which is likely. Israel may succeed in ending Palestine, but they will have sacrificed any long-term security they have. If foreign aid ever stops, which I’d say is highly likely within the next 50 years, the rest of the middle east will destroy Israel. Unless the Israeli government can be convinced to pivot on their actions, this is probably an unavoidable scenario.

What storage software could I run to have an archive of my personal files (a couple TB of photos) that doesn’t require I keep a full local copy of all the data? I like the idea of a simple and focused tool like Syncthing, but they seem to be angling towards replication....

Save your files to a local s3 object storage mount, enable versioning for immutability and use erasure coding for fault tolerance. You can use Lustre or some other S3 software for the mount. S3 is great for single user file access. You can also replicate to any cloud based S3 for offsite.
