I’ve been working at a rich ladies house the last few weeks.

If you used her money to feed an entire town for a month, she wouldn’t even know.

I feel like I definitely read that in middle/high school

I’d just be glad to finally return to monke

More than one-third of millennials believe they won’t get a dime of Social Security when they retire, so they’re taking matters into their own hands (creditnews.com)

Of all generational cohorts, older millennials are most likely to generate enough income to retire comfortably, according to the latest Vanguard Retirement Readiness report....

Not having children is my retirement. I will probably work till I’m old and gray so I just tuck what I can away, buy things that hold value, and live my life.

Scrip is kinda low key a thing again. My SO works for wawa and there is definitely some scrip vibe. They have a company store, a points reward system, they will put you through school if you take classes that benefit the Corp, and the only way to move up is to basically bootlick management at weird company festivals.

It all has this very dystopian vibe of “everything within the corporation eco system” and my SO is a very principled women who is shy and kind and she refuses to take a step to elevate herself within the Corp, but getting a union going is pretty hard where we’re at, everyone is very much of the boot tasting, welfare queen bad variety.

8000 a year? That would be a huge help. Like it would alleviate almost all of my burdens.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

Hey you sound just like me. If your going to move, perhaps somewhere like PA? It’s got the benefit of being a battleground state, and there’s more than enough rural areas, even relatively close to the cities, where you can continue your hermitage. I’m doing something similar (:

My partner got a duvet for us…I fuck that shit all up. Wild sleepers!

MiddleWeigh ,

One dog in my current line of work is too much already usually. However I always love it and makes me happy to give my attention to a pup. But I’d say in general no. Too many cooks.

MiddleWeigh ,

Look it’s a commie! Get that dirty hippy!

MiddleWeigh ,

It’d be Jesus for me. I love a highly principled man telling me what to do.

Just come to terms, probobly through traumatic events, that all life is is rejection. Then there is no rejection. There all done!

Active addiction and the hopelessness of hunger, legal trouble, and flexing my principles in order to function.

People where I live now are genuinely afraid of the city for sure. There is some merit, but only if you go looking to step in shit.

For me, I’m largely desensitized to city stuff from a lifetime, and I’m tired. I don’t like it anymore.

MiddleWeigh ,

Guaranteed they feel this and lives are slightly better without the cops running down on them 247 like some tough guys. Having to move all your shit can be the last thread for some. It’s an extremely volatile lifestyle. I’m all for ease of suffering in anyway for this community. I really wish it was not like this. Lots of people with little shot. Lots of people with many but wrong circumstances. Lots of people. Lots of problems. I’d hate to ever have to be the cop to come and sweep the riff raff away, who probably has somewhat personal interactions with many of these people often. There’s obviously way too many issues on every level here and it’s overwhelming for my small brain.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

Both probably. Rules depends on the situation. Pushing them is how we make change in the world. Overall I’m a good boy. Passive. I will do whatever to keep the peace. But I have a rebellious streak in me, and a self loathing one apparently, and ended up with a criminal history. I am pretty meek and quiet but if you get me going I will take a stand. I think perhaps I became too flaccid at a certain point. But I’ve pretty much hung out with “rule breakers” my entire life up until this point now that you frame it this way. Some wild ones, too. I can’t blame them at all, mostly. It just depends on which side of the law your on tbh. There is way too much nuance to this lol.

As far as social expectations as rules I usually fail miserably, but can act good enough usually. I have always avoided people. Which is why I like to come here, cause I get to write this out and now I actually feel some type of way.

What are your thoughts on restricting children’s access to pornography online?

There are a lot of GOP-controller legislatures in the USA pushing through so-called “child protection” laws, but there’s a toll in the form of impacting people’s rights and data privacy. Most of these bills involve requiring adults to upload a copy of their photo ID.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

Ahh I see the strategy. Put out this trafficking movie, hype dems as pedos (and commies) and stir up a whole terd of doo doo. Classic.

I’m not uploading my ID to shit.

Human suffering is power. Kind of crazy imo. I’m imaging a bit of ritual too, like a sacrifice.

Is it me, or the hive mind mentality has come over here as well?

I’ve posted some controversial stuff, and I understand why I would be getting down voted for that. But I see some of my posts and comments are in the negatives for seemingly no reason at all? I don’t really care about the karma because I can’t see it anyway, but I’m worried that comments and posts here are gonna get...

@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

Consciousness is wild. I’m pretty sure I can feel all of you in my head, for sure.

Why does “come here” bother me so much?

Ok, I have no idea why this bothers me and I don’t even know what to call it. My husband is a “come here” guy. Something he thinks is interesting and wants to show me - hey, come here! Nuclear apocalypse - hey, come here! Why the hell wont he just tell me why he wants me to get up, trudge to wherever he is, so that he can...

It took me a while to realize how fundamentally important boundaries were to my mental health and well being. It’s super simple, so its often overlooked. It solves many many issues.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

That’s some excellent advice friend.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

It really does all start with you. Self acceptance, reflection, and mindfulness go a long way in dealing with others. Love yourself, others will love you. Practice it. Practice doing it in the wild. Don’t get hung up on how you come across. Life is a joke in the grand scheme. This mentality tends to draw people to you as well. Not sure if this is good advice but it’s worked for me. Also, know yourself and your limits. Set boundaries. Have realistic goals and expectations. People will disappoint you, doesn’t mean you have to disappoint yourself. 🙃

Make a meal, you will get better at it every time and figure out your own method and feel. New things I use recipes for as reference. At first you will just wanna take your time and don’t stress yourself out.

Any real leftist movement is quashed by design as evidenced by the rampant fascism holding us hostage…IMHO.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

I see alot of don’t let perfect be the enemy of good rhetoric and it comes off to me as “I’ve done fairly well in this system, I’m OK with it being rigged to its core”

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

I think this mentality is what let’s fascism take root. And capitalism has a natural bent for it. So trump has already done his worst damage imo. It’s what continues to grow from it that is concerning.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

The fact that he went against the union in public, did some dealings to get concessions, and the news about it being pretty hush hush after the fact makes it seem even worse to me tbh.“Don’t get any big ideas” energy.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

If you even have the privilege to vote. Lol.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

The system will fail eventually regardless tbh. I understand your plight. These political discussions really make me lose faith in people entirely. I didn’t vote my entire life I said fuck this. I vote now only because I have the privilege to get to the ballot. The DNC seems shady. I’m thinking about just running for local office, but I’d probably get arrested tbh. I fully agree with you though. The system is rigged by definition. I’ve seen enough of the interworkings to be utterly disillusioned. But we are only a few people bringing light to a very dark place. It will take time that frankly we probably dont have. Stay alive!

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

👏

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve experienced a infinitesimal fraction of the bullshit, and empathize with the disillusionment. The system is dying. Trump did his damage already. That and worse are inevitable. Money in politics. Money in all of it, i mean you have people being locked up in the name of corporate, and ecobomic interest ffs. I vote in all the elections especially local because that can help shift police behavior for the better of day to day people. I didn’t always vote. When trump first won I was listening on a broken wireless am radio in a shitty apt with no power or food in absolute wonder at the depravity of man and the meaning of it all for me… I didn’t vote that year. Fuck me right? I didn’t even know where the polls were. The people not voting are the ones pushing boundaries IMHO. What we are opposed to is the ruling class. The dnc bootlickers and fascists alike can get fucked.

Wed need the second coming of Jesus to save this version of “democracy” ffs.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

Criminal justice is what got me political in the first place tbh. I can abide by your line on kamala. And I would love a female president.

MiddleWeigh ,
@MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve removed myself as much as possible from the economic system. I am trapped, but I’m having fun trying to wake up. ⏰️ Maybe when I can’t move much, which will be soon, I’ll have to roll into a ditch or something 🤷
