I'm more upset by the word 'Resto' in the title

Wat?

Hello_there ,

Why is a YouTube video being posted in an ask thread? You have already provided an answer to your question in the form of a video. This isn't answerlemmy, and it isn't you providing any of your personal thoughts in the context of the question.

Hello_there ,

Do the rom hack right.

  • Toll roads everywhere. Paid each time you enter.
  • Pokemart is a monopoly and gouges you.
  • Arceusism is the state religion and others are barely tolerated.
  • Gyms are privatized and cost per attempt.
  • Pokemon sweatshops.
  • PC access is a freemiun model where you get the first 5 for free, but beyond that you have to pay for Pokestorage+ and pay monthly. Also pokes come out hating you so pretty sure they getting abused. And occasionally pokes get lost.

And all the rocket goons are just police protecting the capitalists

Hello_there ,

Like, could you imagine this article ending on a 'dont touch this dumpster fire of a stock' line? Conde nast would not allow that.
The article was so glowing at the end it almost swayed me until that realization

Hello_there ,

One of the few brands actually taking concrete steps about child slavery on cocoa farms. They have had pieces on them done by pbs and I think 60 mins.

Hello_there ,

That's a purposeful choice to show that not everyone gets an equal piece. Some start out with a giant piece and others get just a tiny one.

Hello_there ,

Look up the piece by pbs and by John Oliver. They also do a cocoa bean tracking system so they know where the beans are coming from. This is importa t to know that the beans are coming from the good farms and not from the bad ones. All that being said, they say they can't say slavery free due to how bad it is in that area. They can't guarantee that.
I think for me it's as simple as - do I go with the brand that seems to be doing something about it? Or go with the brand that misses it's own targets and is satisfied with the horrible status quo

Hello_there ,
  • Muffins/Swiss rolls - depends on how much it is but I get it being a quick comfort food. However, check if there's a bakery of some kind (including
Chinese / Latino bakeries) near you. It's nearly as cheap or cheaper and much fresher. Good bread there too.
  • Pasta sauce: my wife actually just makes a Alfredo sauce from scratch and it seems to be just a bit more complicated than Mac and cheese sauce. Flour, milk, and cheese. Probably a lot more cost effective.
  • Instead of a red tomato sauce I would buy diced tomatoes ( or those fire riasted ones) and dump them over noodles. It tastes better than the bottled red sauce.
  • Mac and cheese: see above - but also, if you're going to get it, get the box. The single serve things are worse than the generic box Mac.
-froze spinach is great. Try throwing that in whatever you're cooking. Never goes bad. Already bite sized.
-Also, you gotta report that grocery store. Cats are friends not food.

Just eat the crust

Hello_there ,

You can get jelly that's a lot less sugar than the cheap stuff. As for kids - I'm a firm believer in letting kids butch and moan for a few days and after that they get used to it and eat it. Just take the time investment to save yourself some hassle later on. Or tell them to make their own.

Hello_there ,

@schamppu a friend is running a marathon this weekend. Any chance they can get into beta by then?

Hello_there ,

Taking the opportunity to tell about https://www.donorschoose.org/
Local teachers asking for help buying supplies for classrooms. With prices and item lists so you know where it's going.

Also it's a great way to check out disparities in education. The low income school is asking for erasers and pencils and carpets for kids to sit on, and the rich school is asking to buy iPads to replace the old iPads.

If it was to like the Japanese self defense force? Sure.
If it's to the US and going towards bombing civilians all across the world? Hell no.

Another option is to just have a big ass cable for HDMI and USB and have the actual computer hosted somewhere less dusty, like a office. Linus tech tips did a few videos talking about sending the computer signals from a gaming room out to a server rack and back. That could be the cheapest and most flexible option.

Hello_there ,

Looks like it might be as easy as running cat6. No idea but Google says this: https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeNetworking/comments/uqtr2w/i_want_to_have_my_pc_accessible_from_two/

Hello_there ,

On the first option: I wasn't suggesting all of that. The Ethernet seems to be able to run video signal and USB signal - maybe on one cable and maybe on 2 cables. So you're just talking about a cat6 to HDMI/USB adapters and a monitor and a USB hub/ keyboard/ mouse in the shop, and a regular PC and adapters in the office. 500 feet of burial rated cat6 is around $160.

I was just offering another potential solution - no need to get snarky. If you need the power on your device, or you don't want to fuck around with transferring files back and forth, that seems like a better option. But like I said initially - I haven't done this - I just know that others have and it might be worth checking out.

600k for causing a mass migration. Fuck that and fuck CEO compensation in general

Hello_there ,

Almost nobody designs new houses from scratch. Seems a lil like setting yourself up for failure

Hello_there ,

They need competition. But the imported cars are being heavily subsidized by China to build the market.

Maybe let the tiny cars in? Because there's minimal competition there at the moment and people would buy the heck out of a cheap small car. Maybe will push market in right direction

What game do you recommend someone who likes the mechanics but not the setting of Baldur's Gate 3?

I saw people going on about how great BG3 is on this site, so I thought I’d check out a let’s play to see what all the fuss was about. I immediately fell in love with the graphics and the mechanics, such as the classes, races, spells, dice etc, but I disliked the emphasis on gore/horror in the game, and I know I wouldn’t...

Tips for falljng back to sleep

I wake up at 3am to 4am daily as a neighbor makes noise walking their dog. This cannot be helped. Once I am awake, my mind won’t stop going over details about everything from the mundane to the critical. Often, I am able to fall asleep again after three or more hours of wakefulness, but only minutes before I have to wake for...

Hello_there ,

I've found that music can work too - but it really has to be the right type of music. I don't know the right terms, but basically songs that are slow in tempo and don't have high notes. As an example: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9LhmrVaFl_o
It takes some work, but building a list is as simple as putting songs on and remiving the songs your brain latches onto and keeping those thag just fade into the background

Hello_there ,

Law states that legality of crossing has no effect on validity of asylum cases. I guess we're ok with doing whatever we want to cater to a republican base that won't vote for a dem.

Google voice has been around for a long long time. But I can't use it for registration because it's classified as a voip

Often we say infinite growth (capitalism) is not sustainable and reasonable. Can we also say infinite progressivism is also not sustainable and reasonable?

This question is social/political, and meant to trigger a nice debate on the negatives of imbalanced infinite progressivism we seem to be heading in social and technological spheres, ignoring science, practicality and reason....

Hello_there ,

Traditional capitalism back in the day was sweatshops and traveling snake oil salesmen.
In modern times, that's sweatshops in India and drug ads on TV with 'tiny text of 'This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.'
For sustainability - we clearcut forests and filled coastlines without restraint - that's not sustainable and we had to stop because there aren't as much left.
I don't think the last is necessarily the source of goodness that you seem to think it is.

Hello_there ,

I think you're placing too much value on the label in this discussion.
E.g., you could make houses out of redwood beams back in the day. It was great - insect resistant, fire resistant. Lasts a long time. Problem is that these trees take much too long to grow, and there's no way they're coming back any time soon. You're mining a nonrenewable resource and you're going to run out (and also kill an ecosystem). That's an unsustainable business practice.
Also, people are much more disposable oriented than you seem to be considering. Japanese houses last for like 20 years before they're considered in need of replacement. I've seen a brand new house in the US, 3 years old, be razed and rebuilt because the rich owner wanted the building made his way, and not the way the former owner built it.

Hello_there ,

It's fun. Fyi, no multiplayer tho. If there's a game that needs a 2p mode like vampire has, this is it.

Hello_there ,

Seems like going into exile would have been the better option

You can't just drop that without details. Plan name. State. Monthly premium. Obamacare subsidy or no.

In-N-Out to close first location in its 75-year history due to a wave of car break-ins and robberies (apnews.com)

In-N-Out Burger says it will close its first location in its 75-year history due to a wave of car break-ins, property damage, theft and robberies affecting customers and employees alike at its only restaurant in Oakland, California....

Hello_there ,

Don't knock it til you try it. Cold water and bag goes in a mug in microwave. 1-2 mins later tea comes out. No forgetting about hot water or letting things cool and forgetting about it. I dont care if it's correct. It tastes good to me.

Hello_there ,

I had no idea but a quick search shows most teabags have plastics.
Not sure if there's a difference between microwaving a bag in water or letting a bag sit in hot water

Hello_there ,

So he says he started with a 3d scan of skeleton, which is good. But then he says he sculpted it, and that's where the question is - seems like a lot of guesswork involved in making up flesh to fit that skeleton.

Hello_there ,

Because NH got their panties in a twist and decided that their miniscule state needs to be first? They can go fuck off.

Because the 'founders' made the Senate and house to be anti urban
