Join me, fellow weebs!

They got a pro anime studio to make it. You can feel the caring of the father even though he’s only in it a few seconds.

How does a polite and grateful person navigate the internet?

I care a lot about what other people think (not good) and if someone tries to help or helps me, I can’t stay without saying thank you. I really want to thank people who comment on my posts. But many times I ask a lot of questions and I thus reply to a lot of comments and try to be polite and show how grateful I am. So, now, I...

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I reply “thank you” a bunch. Do it if it makes you happy, don’t if you don’t wanna. It’ll all work out.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Quietly? Lol. My manager told me to my face. He said upper management only allowed so many “exceeds expectations” regardless of performance. He never bullshitted me. Miss that boss.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

The right calls people snowflakes and then loses their mind when someone offers an option for pronouns. An option. You can still pick cis pronouns. Gtf outta here.

GrayBackgroundMusic OP ,

Thanks!

GrayBackgroundMusic OP ,

It definitely has. Gabe links old comics on Twitter sometimes and it gives a really great comparison to how his style has changed.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Eh, he said the word apologize, but that’s not a full apology. All they essentially did was acknowledge that they noticed the public was mad at them. A full apology includes that acknowledgment and then what they did wrong and how they’re going to try to prevent it again. I doubt that last point will happen.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Never heard of life traps. I googled it and it seems like marketing speak for psychological issues to deal with in therapy. Is that it means to you or something else?

Wait, is Unity allowed to just change its fee structure like that? | Confusing, contradictory terms of service clauses leave potential opening for lawsuits. (arstechnica.com)

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Isn’t fraudulent to change the terms of the deal after you’ve agreed to a contract? How are the new fees enforceable at all?

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Mobile internet shouldn’t require that to be readable.

You’re right, but we can’t realistically affect web designers directly. We can only control our devices, so we should focus our energy there first.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Same. I’m surprised when people hate me because I expect to be completely ignored. I have a very mild version of self loathing. I think I’m boring, unremarkable, etc. So, when people hate me (or are interested in me) it surprises me.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I’m kind of surprised that you feel like NFTs are a better option, but at the risk of giving you the benefit of the doubt, I’ll explain my opinion. I hate the thing you’re describing, a marketplace of tradeable whatever, because it’s completely the opposite reason I play games. I play games to experience mastery and get rewards for skilled achievements. If I can just buy them, they mean nothing. So, at best, NFTs have zero value to me. Secondly, another reason I play games is to get away from the nickel and dime-ing of real life. Games start everyone at the same point and give you challenges. Marketplaces like NFT auctions or whatever just reinstate the real-life scenario where rich people, who usually don’t deserve their wealth, get disproportionate power over everyone else.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

“remake” is generous of the titling editor. That’s a tech demo or a mechanic demo. Still good, though. The seamless transitions are nice.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis apologize over letters of support for Danny Masterson (abcnews.go.com)

The three women were members of the Church of Scientology, as is Masterson. All three women said they were initially hesitant to speak to law enforcement because they said church teachings discouraged reporting to police. The women eventually left the church....

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

FTA:

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis issued an apology

No, they didn’t. That video wasn’t an apology. It was a “sorry if you got upset” PR skit.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Not that I expect someone named “friend of Satan” to be nice, but sometimes things that seem obvious to some people are not obvious to others. For example, if the milk bottle in the fridge is a different color (it’s blue label instead of red for some reason) then I sometimes can’t find the milk. Seems pretty obvious to most people, but it’s not to me. Give people benefit of the doubt. They may have a learning disability or something.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Good analogy to WoW. I’m a pretty serious crafter and it’s only added headache. I don’t care for it there or here.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I don’t have a choice. If I wanna do the kind of work I enjoy and pays enough to feed my family, I have to submit to corporate dictatorship.

Looking for games with unique core mechanics

I’m requesting for recommendations for games that stand out from the rest in their genre, and not in the sense of being the best game in that niche but actually bringing something new and innovative to the table. I’ve not had much experience in gaming, but I have a few games to give you a hint on what I am talking about:...

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Great soundtrack too

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Factorio - its a logistics rts but the pollution mechanic is different. Instead of just gather resources to build things which build bigger things, you also make pollution as a side effect. This feeds the native monsters and also evolves them. Managing your pollution cloud is a strategy. That or build massive defensives for when they come to eat you.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

How’s Krastorio vs AngelBob? I keep trying AngelBob but it’s so tedious to make progress that I lose interest after a few hours.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Thanks, I’ll give it a try.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Yeah, I’m not against this article being written, but I want a filter so I don’t have the mental image I now have.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Agreed.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I’m just the opposite. I enjoyed the movie but not the book.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Starship troopers. I say this not because the movie is bad (it’s not, I think it’s exactly what it meant to be and did it well), but that the movie and the book are thematically opposites. The book is very pro military authoritarian. The movie is a satire of that.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

haha, yes, in some sense :D

The loss of certainty in one's one abilities and the lack of trust in institutions

To know what I am talking about, let me give you an example. I have this friend who went crazy over the vaccine issue. She’s done so much research into it that I feel like I can’t talk to her about her vaccine skepticism. Whenever I start to talk about something, she would drown me with a ton of articles and youtube videos...

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

It’s not poorly written. I understand it bc I feel this way, but I’ve come to a different conclusion.

I’m OK not knowing everything. I’m not ecstatic about it, but I’ve settled with the idea. Experts exist for a reason and I have to trust in that. I can’t research every issue to a college degree level. I gotta make dinner for the kids.

Let your friend have their vaccine research but just don’t bother talking about it to them. Accept the fact that you don’t need to understand every facet of reality to live thru it.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

We don’t need to recreate the same shitty subs from reddit that just exist to make fun of people.

That’s literally a sub that hexbear has. Dunking on libs. That’s one of the core tenets of hexbear. (I’m not pro or anti hexbear, but they espouse the literal thing you’re defending them for.)

Not counting games that were unfun because of bugs, what’s the most unfun video game that you’ve played and what made it unfun?

Most of the video games I’ve played were pretty good. The only one I can think of that I didn’t like was MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo DS. Dropped that pretty quickly. It was a long while ago, but I’ll guess it was because there were too many fetch quests and annoying controls.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Myst. I know, I know. One of the hallmarks of video games. I hated it. I like games that give you a path and let you figure it out. I’ve hundreds of hours into Factorio and it’s kin. Portal! A puzzle game, Portal gives you A and Z and lets you figure out how to get there. Myst doesn’t do ANYTHING. Nothing was obvious to me. I didn’t understand where the A to Z was. I couldn’t find A, Z, or any of the other steps. None of it clicked. Years ago, I watched some parts of walk throughs and I did not understand how I was supposed to know the things they were doing. None of it made any sense to me.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I’m waiting until it’s out of early access. I don’t have time these days to beta test games.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

How does hades give you options if you die a lot? I’ve just started playing.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

That’s pretty neat!

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Diablo 4 at launch was decent. It’s been downhill since. The first patch sucked. The next patch (season 1) walked back half the changes, so it wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t fun. Waiting on season 2. Contemplating POE.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Wayfinder. They released into early access and it’s very early. Needs more time to cook.

Palia. Interesting concept, but the launch reviews say it’s kinda shallow. I’ll check in a year or so to see if it’s got any depth.

Diablo 4. It started pretty good! Then went to the shitter and hasn’t recovered.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Whoa. That world design is very reminiscent of Secret of Mana, which I loooove.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Internet comment etiquette would love this guy

Your dreams are a gateway into a parallel universe -- Can you prove it?

Your dreams and imagination evolved as a view into another universe. As with the current beliefs, you cannot decipher technical information – no words in books, no details of how devices work, so even if you can describe things you see from another place, you could not reproduce a working version....

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

even if you can describe things you see from another place, you could not reproduce a working version.

If you can’t functionally use any information from the other universe or vice versa, then what’s the difference between a real universe or a fake one.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I’M ESCAPING TO THE ONE PLACE THAT HASN’T BEEN CORRUPTED BY CAPITALISM… SPACE!

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

YOU EUTHANIZED YOUR FAITHFUL COMPANION CUBE FASTER THAN ANY TEST SUBJECT ON RECORD. CONGRATULATIONS.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Lol, no. Type the quote into YouTube. You won’t regret it.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Been playing Nintendo since I could remember. That’s like everyone else’s story.

However, I took a break. 1st kid was born and I wanted to focus on them. 5 years, no gaming… But Factorio… You see, that’s where the trouble began to grow. That factory. That damned factory.

edit: fellow engineers, check the FFF blog, they’ve released news of the expansion!

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

It literally won’t go on sale. The devs are on record saying so.
