Jury convicts man of child stealing in rural Stillwater [Oklahoma] (www.1600kush.com)

(Stillwater, Okla.) — In a remarkably rapid verdict, a Payne County jury took only 35 minutes to convict a man, who considers himself a sovereign citizen and represented himself at his trial last week, of child stealing, possessing guns illegally, and obstructing an officer in rural Stillwater.

I’m the same. I would like a little more me time or something to lower the stress level. If they’d clean up without me itemizing, or stop arguing over literally trivial things, or stop shouting at their friends on the mic. Ugh. I can handle some of that but it’s just too much. I need a babysitter but I stay and they go.

Games with characters you miss most after completion.

It’s a bitter sweet feeling afterward, but I love it when a game has characters where, after the game is over, I miss seeing a part of their lives. Be it due to the characters themselves or the interaction they have with one another, exiting their world feels more like a loss than when normally putting a story away....

Runas the Shamed from World of Warcraft: Legion. In summary, he’s a victim of magical addiction that tries to con you into helping him, then you realize he’s not in his right mind, he’s addiction fueled. He is really trying to be a good person, but he’s screwed by circumstance. By the end, you really feel sorry for him because he isn’t majority responsible for his situation. It does not end well.

Not op. I saw the good reviews and so I thought I’d give it a try. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but I am very bad at that game and die all the time. I looked up other negative reviews and some people seem to agree with me that I just need more armor or something. I don’t understand all of the positive reviews and how difficult I find the game to be. I loved MW one and two and three, but I guess this one isn’t for me anymore.

Labeling things. I write simple instructions to myself so I don’t have to remember things as much. It doesn’t have to be formal stickers. It can be some masking tape and a pen. I just leave little notes for My Future Self

Try and find a cheap deal for a meal service like hellofresh or blue apron or any other service. I didn’t want to, but my spouse did. I’ve learned some good techniques and used ingredients I would not normally use. Don’t sign up long term, just get a box or two or whatever and cancel. Once you’ve learned your lesson you can extrapolate that.

Buy two of things. If you have trouble washing something, like bed sheets, buy a second set. You can change them first, then you have some more time to wash and dry and fold the other set. Otherwise, if you only have one, then you have to wash and dry and remake your bed in a shorter time window.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I did, before I decided to buy 2. Only had 1 when growing up.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Strip bed. Wash sheets. Dry sheets. Remake bed. All as soon as possible.

Do you also have only one set of clothes?

Messed up things a doctor did to you or someone you know? / Bad experiences with doctors

Today I spoke to a coworker who had bad experiences with doctors and was seeking recommendations for a new one, then other coworkers chimed in, and so I decided to ask you guys as well. Well, not for a doctor recommendation, but about your bad experienced with doctors?...

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I was having some unusual medical issues and went to a doctor recommended by a friend. They seemed OK. I researched their treatment and it seemed OK. After a while I was having severe side effects and decided to find a more main stream doctor, a proper endocrinologist.

They were appalled at the dosage from the previous doctor. I had been started on 2x the maximum dose! Usually people start at 0.5x the dose and step up if it’s not enough.

That went fine for a bit, but I was having some discomfort administering the medicine and asked my GP. He lost his temper (not at me). The previous 2 doctors had gone straight to the simplest but most side effects solution. He explained that there are 5 different treatments for my condition! I was suffering thru unnecessary side effects because the previous doctors hadn’t even discussed these other solutions with me. I wasn’t aware of them at all.

So pissed.

The bigger the business, the more likely they make their money unethically.

I had some friends who got married and started their family at 40 years old. You’re fine.

claiming that they are still searching for the correct charity to partner

Isn’t that something you should do before you start a donation drive? Wtf?

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Yeah, but only because my joints hurt if I do anything remotely exertion related. It’s less that I feel like an adult, more like I feel old.

I'm so sick of dinky shitty devices with garbage rechargeable batteries

you always have to manage a million different cables for each one, and they all suck. why can’t we just use AAA batteries instead of these shitty lithium ones? it’s so fucking frustrating. where can I find gadgets that work while plugged in, or at least don’t need to be recharged every two fucking days?

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I assume op was talking about rechargeable AAA batteries. At least then they’re hot swappable.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

That sounds like you need better brand. when the inventor got 500 cycles on their patented design 60 years ago… en.wikipedia.org/…/Nickel–metal_hydride_battery

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I wish I liked them. They seem super convenient. I’ve never felt full drinking a meal instead of eating it. I think that feeling of fullness is critical for me.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Coffee. I found a coffee shop I loved 20 years ago and have been buying beans from them ever since. Sure, it’s 2x-3x times more expensive, but it’s worth it to me.

Toothpaste. I have sensitive teeth and the off brands just don’t cut it. Heck, some of the name brands don’t.

3d printing filament. Printed Solid named their line after their dog, so I have to. I will still branch out for stuff on sale, but the majority of my stock is Printed Solid.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Sensodyne is what I use. The bog standard version. The other versions don’t work as well for me.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

My spouse said yes when I asked them to marry me. Still don’t know why anyone would do that to themselves.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I played it a year or two ago and found it really lacking in interface. It was really difficult for me to understand what was going on. Has that improved any?

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Hardspace Shipbreaker. You’re a wage slave in an orbital junkyard breaking down ships and recycling them… with lasers. They’re essentially a puzzle game in 3d, because you have to break the ship parts into their respective bins, but they’re all stuck together in weird ways that explode if you do it wrong! The soundtrack is so good (Americana blues, Lotta banjo) that I got it on vinyl.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Blizz always has great ideas and then falls flat in execution. I say this as a WoW player. It’s ok. If they can pull off these ideas, which they absolutely have not proven, then this could be good. I remain skeptical.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

You have a point, but I think WoW succeeds in spite of itself. They promise big things then deliver a fraction. It never lives up to the hype, IMO. I think it’s that there’s nothing better, and if there was, it’d have to be a LOT better because of sunk cost fallacy. 80% of the reason I play WoW is because I have always played WoW. I like my stuff and friends there.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Well, crap. I use mint to track net spending and give me a forward budget. Time to find something new, I guess.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I understand the weird feeling of relief when someone dies. I know that sounds terrible. My situation was not yours, so I’m not directly comparing. One of my parents had long, slow cancer. Watching them waste away, choosing to fight a symptom or not, was draining and difficult. In one sense, I enjoyed all of those final moments and would give anything to have more. I miss them dearly. However, I’m glad they’re not suffering. It was difficult at the end. Their quality of life was not good.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

The pixelated characters against the high-fidelity 3d background is messing with my head.

Did you read the article?

On October 5, Popular Information analyzed publicly available crime data for the stores Target is closing in New York and San Francisco. This data revealed that stores that are being closed had lower levels of theft than nearby stores that have remained open. A report by the Seattle Times of the stores Target is shuttering in the Seattle area follows a similar pattern.

Allen Pan keeps asking this question on the Safety Third podcast and it’s hilarious.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Maybe? It’s been decades since I read it, but I remember enjoying Hyperion and fucking hating Fall of Hyperion. It felt like Hyperion was amazing and well thought ought but then Fall was just mailed in.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

As long as they edit it a bit. IMO, it felt like Robinson was paid by the word and padded the crap out of the novels.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

I don’t see what making a film or TV series adds to any book, all they ever seem to do is a disservice to the original story in the attempt to squeeze as much money from it as possible.

It’s that last part that effs it up. For example, I really liked Luhrman’s Romeo+Juliet. That was a creative interpretation. I enjoyed Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I thought the books were decent, but the movie captured the best bits, IMO. Early seasons of Game of Thrones were good. I like some of the changes made to move the internal dialog to conversations. It gave the side characters more life.

It’s when the artistic vision is cast aside in the name of profit, then the work of art suffers.

Wheel of Time

I’ve heard it’s bad. I can’t personally say, never watched it.

GrayBackgroundMusic ,

Anything to do with Pern. Some good high fantasy and tech mixed. Might be a harder sell to the general public. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonriders_of_Pern

The Brainship series (The ship who sang). This would go over well with the Star Trek, Star Wars fansbase, I think. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ship_Who_Sang

The Vorkosigan saga. This would also go well with the Star Trek/Wars fanbases. More political than Brainship series. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorkosigan_Saga

The Dragearan books about Vlad Taltos by Steven Brust. Especially the first few. High fantasy mystery novels. This would be an easy sell, IMO. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Brust#Vlad_Taltos

This made me realize I haven’t read any new books in a while.
