NYPD shot four people - including two bystanders one who is in critical condition - and another cop over a $2.90 fare. (www.nbcnewyork.com)

Police opened fire on a subway platform in Brooklyn during a confrontation with an alleged fare-beater, striking the man cops said was armed with a knife, two straphangers caught in the fray, and one of the firing officers, NYPD officials said Sunday....

With the settlement money they are about to get ripped up for I’m sure they could.

I use PopOS on my rig which is primarily gaming. It does great and gets out of my way.

How much do y'all spend on coffee a month?

My wife and I go through about 4lbs a month using mainly Chemex and Areopress. Used to get (decent) crummy coffee at Aldi and Grocery Outlet, occasionally splurging for local roasts at the coffee shops. Still, I calculate that’s about $35 or so a month on beans, Chemex filters should probably be calculated with how pricey they...

$12. A single pack of grounds lasts me right around a month.

Identity theft monitoring services always scare me. It seems like you are dumping a huge amount of information into a single system and just hoping the vendor is secure. I have access to one but refuse to put much information in. Is this mindset incorrect?

To have one ready out of the box with linux maybe look at the System76 offerings? system76.com

Edit: just got a chance to check and they are slightly above your $1000 criteria. So maybe on his recommendation.

How are the polls done anyways? If they rely on TV ads or random phone numbers a large portion of younger generations will-not be in the sample. Seems like more technically literate populations will be missed rendering the polls useless.

Windows 3.1 saves the day during CrowdStrike outage — Southwest Airlines scrapes by with archaic OS (www.tomshardware.com)

Southwest Airlines, the fourth largest airline in the US, is seemingly unaffected by the problematic CrowdStrike update that caused millions of computers to BSoD (Blue Screen of Death) because it used Windows 3.1. The CrowdStrike issue disrupted operations globally after a faulty update caused newer computers to freeze and stop...

Is this actually confirmed anywhere though? I keep seeing it repeated and the only ‘source’ is a ?xeet? .

Favourite patient modern game?

A bit of a weird title, but basically what’s a game that’s more than a year old but still considered “modern” that you love? There’s no real strict definition for modern, I’d just like to see some discussion around great games that aren’t quite classics yet (but probably will be one day)....

Highly dependent on workplace. Many with govt contracts could feel an obligation to punish this.

Would this hot Boeing though or would that be tangential to GE whom actually builds the engines?

My understanding of the current situation is that EPA Guidelines give a lot of wiggle room / outright don’t control vehicles above a certain size. Therefore manufacturers are reducing the vehicles that actually get regulated by those guidelines in favor of monster trucks for grocery getters.

Pop has been Rock solid for me and steam gaming. Trivial to set up and the store is wonderful too. Nice that it works great for non gaming tasks as well.

Similar but only because I skip lunch

Did they ever allow for turning off head bob and blur? That game makes me motion sick to an insane degree.

As a counterpoint, I’m specifically keeping passwords with a separate service out of concern in having a single point of failure for the majority of my online persona. I do pay for proton unlimited but mostly for VPN, simple login, and email.

We use a Neato Botvac Connected (it’s an older model) and the eco mode is quiet enough that we can run it at night. I’m an exceptionally light sleeper and it has worked for me. If we are leaving the house for a while I set it to turbo and that’s loud but cleans even better.

Highly recommend Neato. I think we’ve had ours for 7 or 8 years at this point.

Bum gun is superior to bidet. Change my mind.

Saxx solves this (and I think a few other brands) by giving your balls a pouch. Super comfortable and adds the comfort of boxers.

Ubuntu broke with my Nvidia card. I went to PopOS and the problems stopped.

How has your experience been with the softmaker alternative to excel? Do all the functions translate well? I just took a peak at their site and it looks dramatically better than libreoffice but I’d never heard of it before.

BingBong ,

At the beginning of the pandemic people didn’t know much about COVID and did whatever they could to keep safe. Especially in high risk households. As better research became available many of the approaches such as wiping down groceries got used less.

I went to PopOS after finding Nvidia driver management to be an absolute nightmare in other distros. If you have an Nvidia card I’d start there.

Is there a legit Virtual Sim service?

Hey everyone. Just wanted to ask if there is a legit v sim or second number service. I need an american phone number for business purposes but every mobile app or site that claims to offer this service doesn’t work for me or is a straight up scam. Is there a realible service for a reasonable price that sells or atleast lets...

I’ve used h2owireless in the past for overseas visitors and it’s worked well.
