I highly recommend getting jobs adjacent to social media with full time contract. Sometimes it’s insanely busy, much more than a person can handle, but if you can manage the stress, there’s many slow days where you can just play games.

The entire main story and ending of Cyberpunk 2077. Had me straight up nasty crying under a shower, which I’ve never done before or since. I’ve been born sick with different degrees of it impacting my life, including being close to death and barely if at all able to move. Losing control over your body with no hope of help, and people not caring or doing so performatively, unable to relate, hit too hard.

Ironically, I think the game is badly written and the irony of an anti-corpo setting being ruined by corpos pursuing big “celebs” instead of spending the money on something useful, with said “celebs” playing really fucking badly (shoutout to the director of voice acting, since they’re technically responsible - everyone speaks so slowly and oddly it’s really hard to listen to - awful job). I really need to just focus on small games, because the big titles are always re-shitted shit made to be liked by everyone, but impossible to enjoy if you’re someone.

Yes, awful. I’m a big Keanu fan, literally had John Wick merch and took days off to see new movies when they premiered. His performance in Cyberpunk 2077 is so bad I genuinely would pay 100 euros for a DLC removing the current main story and replacing it with else. I like the side stuff in the game, but Silverhand drives me crazy through extremely poor performance.

He’s a good body and face actor, but his speech is poor, but the Cyberpunk 2077 voice acting director clearly didn’t help, as many other characters suffer from weird speech pattern and slow speech.

In all fairness, I genuinely don’t think he’s bad for the sake of it. He suffers from the same issue I do, which is a voice VERY void of emotion (I tried voice acting myself, but I sound dead whatever I say, including on a daily basis, so it’s just how some people sound).

I need a 6 hour shift. 8 hours is useless. I’m not even efficient for the 8 hours. Any time above 6 hours is just power tripping, because the employees don’t even work through it, it’s just the employer demanding you are at work for that much. If I recall correctly, studies clearly show people are far more efficient with less week work hours. I have so many coworkers who stay at work longer, but they absolutely do not work. They go around chatting, playing guitar, foosball and generally fuck around. I hate the culture where being at work is valued so much more than working.

What shitty things have your favourite bands/artists done?

Discovered recently that Electric Wizard were kinda dicks back in the day. “At the time, we were pretty bad people. I got arrested for arson of a car, outside a police station. Tim [Bagshaw] went to nick a crucifix off a church roof so we could use it onstage…”...

I always see The Offspring as quintessential unreliable narrator.

I mean, how else can you listen to the band?

My friend’s got a girlfriend and he hates that removed

Used to be a big XFCE fan, but I was experiencing icon scaling bug which made all my icons pixelized and hard to read. I solely use KDE now. I used to like Gnome, but it feels like they’re working their hardest to make the DE as bad as possible for power users and make it look like a nasty mobile UI.

Rental online prices of old movies are too high.

To rent a movie from 2005, I need to pay 4 euros. A standard with ads Netflix subscription is 5 euros or lowest tier without ads 8 euros (so 1,25x or 2x the price for unlimited access). I’ve encountered this multiple times. I’d be open to paying, but it just doesn’t add up for me. So what do I do? Sail the seven seas....

I’ve been doing something akin, but then read most of household species cannot survive outside, so you’re merely changing the site of death. :(

Sprite ,
@Sprite@lemmy.ml avatar

Of course. Sorry for not responding quicker, I was asleep and then cozy in the bed.

livescience.com/55270-can-indoor-spiders-survive-…

If the spider is a native to the area, it will likely be able to survive outside, Crawford said. But if the spider is a transplant that’s become a house spider — even if its ancestors made the voyage to the “new” place decades to hundreds of years ago — odds are, the spider will perish outside, Crawford said.

That’s because most spiders are adapted to specific places and temperatures, Crawford said.

“The American house spider (Parasteatoda tepidariorum) [is] probably native to northern South America,” Crawford said. “It undoubtedly lives outdoors just fine if your backyard is in Brazil or Guyana.” Even species that moved from one climate to a similar one seem to have trouble. Take the giant house spider (Eratigena atrica), a native of England. It traveled west when the British settled British Columbia, Canada, and the species later made its way south, to Seattle.

Now, E. atrica can be found in houses across parts of the northwestern U.S. (including this reporter’s childhood home). But the species is hardly ever found outside, even though Seattle’s climate is fairly similar to London’s.

“You would think it could survive outside, but we never find it in natural habitats around here — just [in] man-made habitats, such as buildings, brick piles, junk piles and retaining walls,” Crawford said. "So, it does, in fact, survive to some extent outside of buildings, but always in a man-made shelter."

What to do

If you see a spider creep across your bedroom, don’t squish it — but don’t throw it outside, either, Crawford said. Instead, move it to another part of your residence where you don’t mind having spiders, such as the garage, he suggested.

I cannot find a way to “tag” you, but if you’re curious, I made a response to guyrocket with the information as to why it is how it is.

tl;dr The spiders who will die when thrown outside come from different regions where they can thrive, but where they became house spiders, they cannot thrive outside.

I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m one of the few people who avoid / completely cut off caffeine (I have the gene for caffeine giving me anxiety - DNA test shown as much, cannot find info via a quick search to back up the DNA, but it’s what my health DNA test said and I’ve been experiencing extreme anxiety whenever consuming caffeine). I’m 25 and a few months ago I was asked to give my ID when buying an energy drink, because the store has a policy of needing to be at least 16 to purchase it.

From experience I can also say, if you feel pain from the wound, it’s likely due to it being too dry.

Sprite OP ,
@Sprite@lemmy.ml avatar

That’s why I share. :)

FYI, surgeons also tell me not to use soap when cleaning wounds, because it further dries the area out. I’m always told to simply use clean water.

I’m currently using some antiseptic gel as the wound isn’t fully closed. When the wound closes (so skin irritation without entrance under it), you can use silicone-based things or petroleum (e.g. vaseline). They may be applicable even earlier on, but surgeons told me not to use them until the wound itself is closed, and I cannot find information quicker, as all results mention scar treatment (silicone sheets can be used long-term on a freshly healed scar to help it heal better afaik - gels are said to evaporate too quickly to help). They help healing when there’s no more risk of wound opening and prevent worse scarring, plus definitely reduce pain if it’s caused by dried out wound.

Sprite OP ,
@Sprite@lemmy.ml avatar

I found your comment so hilarious. 😂 Not everyone has seen your movie.

I wish it was widely known, hence sharing. Only one surgeon told me of this, but didn’t explain, just mentioned long-term better scar outcome, not healing itself. I looked into it and do my best to accommodate wounds since and been having far better experiences.

Sadly, .world won’t see my post, because I’m banned there. I hope someone crossposts to their communities so they may see.

Oh, I like this one too, at least on paper, specifically the one where they’re in the form permanently.

discussing the spoiler stuffI’m not into Marvel so I didn’t know Hulk was perma-Hulkd. I also didn’t continue watching the Owl House, because I’ve heard they cancelled it. I might have to look up when I last watched and catch up, because it sounds really cool. :)

Sprite OP ,

Sounds cool! Any examples of movies with it?

Sprite OP ,

On that topic, I deeply appreciate when movies don’t add romances which add nothing to the story.

There’s shredded people with double chins. Studies show people who are of overweight BMI (not obese) have the longest lifespan anyway. Let people live.

Sprite ,
@Sprite@lemmy.ml avatar

Sure!

jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…/1555137

Relative to normal weight, both obesity (all grades) and grades 2 and 3 obesity were associated with significantly higher all-cause mortality. Grade 1 obesity overall was not associated with higher mortality, and overweight was associated with significantly lower all-cause mortality.

Sprite ,
@Sprite@lemmy.ml avatar

If I’ve read it correctly, being overweight is “healthier” for longevity. My understanding of science is that being overweight isn’t unhealthy, quite the opposite, but its closeness to obesity is the true danger. So it is healthy to be “overweight” according to BMI, but it’s close to being obese, which is very unhealthy, so if you don’t watch yourself, you could hurt yourself. Aiming to be in the high “normal” BMI or low “overweight” BMI is probably the most reasonable approach. But it may be more difficult for people who build muscle to tell what that is for them.

The negative response was to my posts on Asklemmy so you’re not missing anything via blocks. I have bots disabled by settings, unless someone didn’t declare that should cover all.

Sprite OP ,
@Sprite@lemmy.ml avatar

Can you tell me what are the gay communities active enough you’ve noticed them? I didn’t see a single one. :(

Sprite OP ,
@Sprite@lemmy.ml avatar

Or just communities. IDK how they’ll implement it, but I cannot imagine any use for myself where I don’t risk losing good content, so I’ll just keep selective blocking.

Sprite OP ,
@Sprite@lemmy.ml avatar

I’m not a furry, I just wish I’d see any gay posts at all. I assume .ml has no gay content as it blocks nsfw instances and I assume gay topics may be on nsfw instances. :/
