Some countries have limits to nfc payments with a card. Finland has 50e but with a phone no limits (unless the bank limits).

AnonStoleMyPants ,

People like to use things that are used by many people. Not that surprising.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

I guess it is more following of people of certain topics that talk about them in twitter. Like someone follows few people abour their hobby, some politicians maybe, and people of other interests they have. I haven’t really gotten the idea that people use it to talk to friends per say, or follow them, but for sure people do that as well but maybe it is not the main point.

Though I could be spewing shit because I don’t use it. Just the vibe I’ve been getting over the years.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Thank fuck.

Though they’ll make opt-out soon enough, when the backlash has dwindled down.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

I doubt most Windows users care enough to hate it.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Started Valheim again with a friend of mine. Having a blast! No mods but we kinda wanted to add a few for an immersive no-map run.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

More like finding bugs and exploiting the hell out of them.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

No, the shicken egg was a shicken egg even prior to you eating it. The act of giving it a name is irrelevant. The proto-chicken could’ve lain a hundred eggs, each becoming a new “chicken”. If 99 of them die off and are never born then that does not mean they didn’t exist. It just means they did not exist in a way where we could’ve given them a name.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

But that same argument works the other way too, no? If you define a chicken egg as an egg that came from a chicken, then if you have a dozen of eggs you cannot know whether they’re chicken eggs or whatever eggs unless you know specifically a chicken laid them. Even if you take a dna test of it and it comes back as “a chicken”, you cannot know whether it is in fact a chicken egg.

In the other definition you are capable of determining whether the egg is in fact a chicken egg by its contents.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

I don’t get it. Actually well working AI NPCs sound fucking amazing. To have an actual conversation about anything in the game by typing your questions? That’s like the wet dream of an RPG.

Have writers write the background info, some lore stuff, “books” about stuff in the game etc.

I want to have a conversation with all the NPCs and choose from four premade questions about a quest I am on.

And yes, obviously they have to work well or they’re extremely awkward and anti-immersive.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

He is proposing not to break them and work toward changing the law first.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

And now they nuked the entire IA.

Well done.

Intentions were probably correct but this result is kinda ass.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

I started playing Enderal, the full overhaul mod for Skyrim. Seems quite fun. Maybe 10h in now.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

And definitely a lot of it is just that people have gotten used to it. People think they have insomnia because every time they try to go to bed early they can’t sleep but they’re doing it the wrong way. They should wake up early and go to bed when they start to feel sleepy and work on sleep hygiene (including even a short walk outside). It won’t be fixed in a day.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Could be fun, I’ll take a gander, thanks!

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Yup. Currently working at a company that has machines still running ms-dos due to them being critical and still working fine.

Well they’re fine until you can’t find replacement parts on Ebay anymore.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Your spoiler for the signature is broken BTW.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Dunno, I got entirely different results. Reddit, homeairguides, forbes, a bunch of listicles like consumerreports, wired, ny times, cnet and whatnot, and other websites.

AnonStoleMyPants , (edited )

Full price books? Digital. Then second hand physical (rarely) and books from a library.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Yes, and for quite a few money doesn’t even change anything. People are different.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Try out different plant based milks (oat, soy and almond al least), but start with barista versions, they’re usually higher in fat content and do not curdle as easily.

They’re all very different and brands differ quite a bit, so you might need to do some experimenting. Check your go-to grocery stores and see what they have the most of. 10 brands of oat milk? Probably a good starting point.

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

This is a good one and I think blooming does help too in general but that also depends on when the coffee was roasted.

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

I use Hario switch too but manually brewing like a V60, so I keep the flow off during blooming (add like 2x of grind weight in water and wait for 30secish) and then do two pours, about half and half of my entire batch.

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

Upgrading grinder can definitely help with fines, and btw manual grinders usually give you way value for your money. Also some coffees do make more fines than other ones, like I mentioned in the post that Ethiopian coffee tends to make more fines.

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

Yes I agree with blooming, though it depends quite a bit on when the coffee was roasted. Old coffee? Eh probably doesn’t matter (though I do it anyway).

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

Basically that after blooming with small amounts of water you pour 40% of your entire brew size, wait, and pour the remaining 60%.

Some people say that the first pour determines how sweet the coffee is and yeah, I have a hard time believing it.

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

Point being that yes, if you keep everything else the same the pouring technique does make a difference. But if you take each technique and optimize grind size and temperature for that technique you will get the same result.

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

French press is great! Try sometime to let it soak for longer time, like 10min and don’t push the plunger down but slowly pour through it using it as a sieve. You’ll get quite a bit cleaner cup!

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

Sure, not arguing that. I am arguing that unless you get lots of clogging due to the fines it doesn’t matter.

AnonStoleMyPants OP ,

Yes, good points. I really should’ve been more clear in the post that I do not mean that everything relating to technique is fluff and that nothing matters; blooming being one of the big ones. Merely that if you take a 10 common methods you find, you’ll get the same output after you optimize temps and grind.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Black Russian is my thing most of the time. Also gin sour without egg is great.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Got a robo vacuum (Roborock q revo). Amazing stuff. It runs every day and the first floor has never been cleaner.

Air fryer has been fun though I’m still trying to learn what works well with it.

3D printer (Bambulab A1)! So fun.

I just realised that I’ve spent like 2k on gadgets in the past two months oops.

Though I really really want a rice cooker but haven’t pulled the trigger… yet.

Something a bit cheaper is this home made bread that needs no kneading and is amazing.

3dl water (1.3 cups) pouch of dry yeast (11g, 0.38oz) 1tsp salt 1tbs maple syrup (or whatever syrup) 2dl of dried oats (0.85 cups) 5dl of wheat flour (2.1 cups) 2tbs neutral oil (haven’t tried olive) Seeds if you like!

Mix up dry ingredients. Add lukewarm water and mix (add a splash or two extra if it looks like not everything is mixed into the dough). Do not knead, just mix. Add oil and mix slightly. Put a baking sheet in a bread pan and pour the dough in it. Add a spritz of water on the dough surface (not necessary though). Cover and leave in room temperature for 30min. Bake at 175C (350f) for 45-60min.

I think I’ll make one.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Yeah maybe, haven’t really looked at what I could do with one. Though they’re probably a decent bit more expensive.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Chili and bean soups sound great, I’ll take a look, thanks!

Performance reviews are just employers controlling the narrative when employees are underpaid

Right?
If you underperform, brutal negotiations ensue … prove your value or the deal is off.

Buuut, if you’re overperforming, you get gold stickers and praise, and the possibility of a pay bump through a process controlled by the employer …

instead of you telling the employer that they have to prove their value or the deal is off.

Instead over performing then becomes the expectation.

@workreform

AnonStoleMyPants ,

instead of you telling the employer that they have to prove their value or the deal is off.

What?

Performance review is from the employers side, obviously.

There is nothing stopping from you to walking into your boss’ office and telling them that you’re not getting paid enough for the work you do. Then either they pay you more or don’t and you find a better job.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Yeah, so problem isn’t phones. Problem is that teachers don’t have enough authority. If teachers cannot take away the phone, then just toss them out.

I feel like this “ban phones” is getting common but it does not fix the actual problem of teachers not being able to keep discipline in class.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Also all the artists that made comics from posts and responded with only pictures. There were few of them and they were always amazing.

And Andromeda321 for anything space.

And poem for your sprog.

And probably many others!

Good times.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Taking responsibility of how I use the tools that I use? How dare you.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Thankfully you can right click the “back” button and it’ll give you a list of couple of last sites and you can just so it from there. It is still annoying though.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Man, I wish I could chromecast netflix from my phone but apparently Netflix now requires you to use their app.

I should get smarttube though.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Man, and it works great. It is waaaaay more common to find good answers to a question from a bunch of randoms on the Internet than trying to get an actual answer from a random website. Sometimes you find bs but you can usually quite quickly filter it out, and it gives a good basis from which to then continue to search on the topic.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Oh yeah that’s true, I should try it as I use it as my main search engine nowadays.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Same here, seems like the exact same thing I’ve used for a few years now.

Edit. Apparently the sale just happened last December. Some discussion here: github.com/SimpleMobileTools/…/241

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Fossify gallery is a fork of it BTW, works and looks exactly the same. I swapped mine to it.
