I was thinking:

One of the best Reddit posts even was on falling through the atmosphere of Jupiter in this fashion.

Both witty and informative.

I just had an idea that people smarter than me have probably had long before I heard of Lemmy.....but I don't see it implemented, so I'm sharing it anyways!!!

Ok, so one of the bigger problems I see on Lemmy is the fact that I subscribe to dozens of different communities, but my feed is always the same. News news news technology technology technology....

France bans extreme-right and radical Islamic groups ahead of polarizing elections (apnews.com)

PARIS (AP) — France’s government on Wednesday ordered the dissolution of multiple extreme right and radical Muslim groups, four days before the first round of high-stakes legislative elections that may see a surge in support for political extremes....

Unfortunately the French left wing is so divided on ideological grounds that they put themselves out of any electoral range

For everyone not wanting to read the article, he lived. They checked his intestines for injury and sewed him back up.

The last sentence is the best though:

"While wound dehiscence is a well-known complication, this case is important because evisceration through the abdominal surgical site after cystectomy is poorly described in the medical literature,” the article concludes.

Like you I don’t give any fucks about what people choose to to with their bodies.

I don’t like it either that people’s choices are the subject of so much enragement. I really don’t have to understand why cars need loud exhausts, too. Those do annoy me.

I feel like a healthy perspective is whenever someone gets on your ‘why the fuck would you do that?’ detector is to ask those people why they do it, and not assume the reason and remain being annoyed.

Pls show me where I can get some of this sponsorship money. I’m not usually one to hate train, but this fellow makes it easy, so I’ll take my easy money.

I need some extra information on step 4. I’m kind of needy of others’ perceived opinion on me and convinced that ‘number go up’ will convince people of the quality of my ideas.

As such I want to inflate my imaginary numbers, with as little effort as possible. So doing steps one through three is too much hassle.

Where could I aquire me a bunch of upclicks to fill my empty husk of a soul?

Weary Lebanese brace for war after new Hezbollah threats (www.reuters.com)

BEIRUT/SIDON, June 20 (Reuters) - Lebanese product designer Tara Tabet does not want to see her country pulled into a full-scale war with Israel, but like many of her compatriots is bracing for possible conflict after new threats by armed group Hezbollah against both Israel and Cyprus....

I feel like the tankie brand of leftism shouldn’t be called that. Their embracing of technocrat totalitarians kind of puts them out of the left field.

I don’t incessantly complain, but my Lemmy experience had improved massively by banning the most notorious instances.

Thank God for all the good people with guns to provide safety, am I right?

Akasazh ,
@Akasazh@feddit.nl avatar

It’s more the whole ‘having guns for safety’ idea is a bit absurd.

You got downvoted but it’s a valid question. They don’t state that the wine was fortified, however, but the comparison to sherry does suggest that.

In my reading is only compared to sherry because it’s from the same region.

The military program started under former President Donald Trump and continued months into Joe Biden’s presidency, Reuters found – even after alarmed social media executives warned the new administration that the Pentagon had been trafficking in COVID misinformation. The Biden White House issued an edict in spring 2021 banning the anti-vax effort.

I think this is important to note. Even though the Biden admin eventually stopped it, it could have been done sooner.

Probably more etymologically so as you might expect.

You’re probably thinking of Chevrolet, which is derived from chevreuil, french for a deer.

They just did with marijuana, so there is progress

China state hackers infected 20,000 Fortinet VPNs, Dutch spy service says (arstechnica.com)

- Hackers working for the Chinese government gained access to more than 20,000 VPN appliances sold by Fortinet using a critical vulnerability that the company failed to disclose for two weeks after fixing it, Netherlands government officials said....

Looks great, though pasta purists may argue that your cheese substitution would not make a true amatriciana

Akasazh ,
@Akasazh@feddit.nl avatar

The argument isn’t about that EVs are bad. The argument is that the Chinese government subsides the manufacture of them, so they can outperform western car companies, in order to capture the market.

Akasazh ,
@Akasazh@feddit.nl avatar

That’s not really the point. The important metric is the price of Chinese EVs in Europe compared to EVs from European car makers. That’s why the tarrifs are instated.

Akasazh ,
@Akasazh@feddit.nl avatar

Hey I’m not defending the decision, I’m just clarifying the reason they were put in place.

Akasazh ,
@Akasazh@feddit.nl avatar

Now you’re being obtuse

Akasazh ,
@Akasazh@feddit.nl avatar

I do agree with you, unfortunately the climate is always trumped by the business climate.

On the other hand let’s not hail the Chinese government as being climate minded. Their industry is cheap partly due to climate and worker safety not being regulated as much.

My pick would be fury road. The early ones at least have the appeal (imho) of being a low budget movie with a relatable plot

Then it suddenly gets a gigantic budget with a plot that is basically a back and forth in the desert.

I remember with mobile phones you’d have an app that was called shave or something like that.

It would play the sound of a shaving apparatus and you’d run your phone across your cheek pretending to shave
