And is anyone going to do anything about this man?

AshMan85 , (edited )

Yeah… they are impeaching him.

NABDad ,

I’m not going to hold my breath.

Sanctus ,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

With the Republicans holding the House? Lmao

PythagreousTitties , (edited )

Who held the House during Trumps impeachments? I honestly don’t remember, but I guess I’m assuming it was the Democrats.

lennybird ,
@lennybird@lemmy.world avatar

It was, and even if they had a slim majority it doesn’t matter. To actually remove a Justice they’d need a 2/3 vote supermajority in the Senate.

PythagreousTitties ,

Thanks. Yeah it’s not going to happen, sadly.

(And thank you for not harping on whatever the hell that autocorrect error was lol holy hell)

AshMan85 ,

Didn’t say it would work.

Texas_Hangover ,

Impeachment him?

Hugh_Jeggs ,

Yes, I went to the doctor today to see if he could treatment me too

acockworkorange ,

The Supreme Court just granted immunity to President Biden, so he can send him and the other traitors to Guantanamo without fear of legal repercussions. Of course not, nothing’s going to happen.

Jax ,

This seems to be a common misconception.

The Supreme Court did not give Biden immunity. They gave the president immunity for carrying out official acts. Who determines what an official act is? The Supreme Court.

Biden doesn’t have immunity. I’d argue he doesn’t have immunity as president, either.

catloaf ,

True, but Republicans seem to have taken the position that you can do whatever you want while the consequences work their way through the courts.

Jax ,

And if Biden were a conservative he’d have immunity.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Biden would die of old age before he ever saw a prison cell.

ikidd ,
@ikidd@lemmy.world avatar

So… next week?

SkyezOpen ,

He has it if he wants it. He just has to gulag the justices. By the time the case makes it to the supreme court, it’s all his own people. “Oh why yes, a president certainly can gulag whoever he deems an enemy of the state.”

AmbiguousProps ,

Kind of hard to rule from a jail cell, and I’m guessing that he’d have died of old age by the time something like this was ruled on, regardless. I say, go out with a legacy of giving the court (and the GOP) what they deserve.

acockworkorange ,

That’s the thing about this though. I’d like to see them try to prevent that from within Guantanamo. It’s not legal neither moral, yet it can’t be stopped using the law.

betterdeadthanreddit ,

Will no one rid me of this turbulent “justice”?

Okay… So he went to Russia in 2003. Considering that the consensus in 2003 was that Russia was still on its way to becoming a democracy I am not that offended by it personally.
“Putin’s hometown” being St. Petersburg, which is the 2nd biggest city in Russia.

What is more worrying is all the things that happened since 2003.

It means he has been getting gifts from Harlan Crow for at least 20 years.

Are these guys like lovers? They are sure close.

MegaUltraChicken ,

They all go to a secretive 2 week slumber party in California every year where they don’t allow women. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if these two had some sword fights. Sorry for conjuring that visual for someone.

SkybreakerEngineer ,

Not just any slumber party, Bohemian Grove. Famed among all the conspiracy theorists for being the main place where “they” sacrifice kids to Satan… but when it’s their boy taking selfies there, not a peep.

PythagreousTitties ,

It’s a pattern.

cygnus ,
@cygnus@lemmy.ca avatar

Yeah, describing St Petersburg as “Putin’s hometown” is pretty manipulative. It’s a beautiful city, historically a popular tourist destination and home to one of the world’s best museums.

nilloc ,

Probably not cheap to chopper into and stay at either, which is the main point, but apparently not sensational enough alone.

ShinkanTrain ,

I’m surprised they didn’t call it Leningrad to drive home the point. Dude’s a turd, there’s no need to make shit up to make him look bad.

evergreen ,

It’s probably how they obtained kompromat with which they can control him.

Someone should suggest Clarence play a game of solitare. If the Chinese can Manchurian someone, I'm sure Putin's got something similar.

He took a fucking helicopter trip to Putin's palace. Literally. How is there anybody who can't see the writing on the wall? This man is beyond compromised.

Come on my dude. They are probably just friends and ol’ Vlad was just giving him a belated or early birthday gift over a lovely brunch of blinis and caviar.

And if anyone is wondering why there’s no “end sarcasm” indicator, it’s because the sarcasm should be so fucking obvious that no one currently alive on this planet with access to the internet should be able to misunderstand it.

Drusas ,

I do find it rather odd how we Millennials and Gen X had little trouble understanding sarcasm on the internet, overall, but over the last couple of years there's suddenly this huge push that we need to use '/s' to make it extra super obvious. Does Gen Z not use sarcasm?

Klear ,

Hmm, it never occured to me it could be a generational thing. It was a thing on reddit, but there was also a lot of pushback and ultimately good sarcastic comments tended to survive. It feels much worse here, which I attributed to demographics.

aStonedSanta ,

It’s for neurodivergent people imo. I sometimes have trouble with it. Plus. I’ve seen some shit on the internet. It’s hard to know these days 😆

JovialMicrobial ,

Poe’s Law gets us all once in awhile

Drusas ,

Lots of neurodivergent people learn and enjoy sarcasm. But it does stay a little hard to recognize, yes. Adding the '/s' kind of ruins the joke, though.

aStonedSanta ,

Oh. I love and enjoy sarcasm. I do not pick up on it well in text because you are all strangers so the nuance for me is cloudy if that makes sense. I also browse /all and uh im generally really stoned. Lol

Lucidlethargy ,

It seems the Russians won the war after all, as I look around at all of these clearly compromised people running our country, or trying to run the country. Half our political system is ensuring they do this without any criticism whatsoever.

The idiots have all but won. Idiocracy is becoming a reality, and I say that with no humor or jest whatsoever.

I mean, this is just shit journalism. That guy is clearly a money grabbing cunt but one look at the article tells you that he was given a private cruise round the Baltics, which is an extremely common route and would have stopped in Estonia, Latvia etc before ending up in St Petersbourg, the same as dozens of cruise ships every day.

Then a private helicopter flight to one of the most popular tourist spots in St P’s

Yes, the guy obviously needs investigating, but headlines like that are just fucking infantile ragebait and detract from any point the ‘journalist’ was trying to make

Statick ,
