athos77 , in Judge Chutkan says Trump’s right to free speech in January 6 case is ‘not absolute’

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is how Trump wants to be able to spout whatever bullshit he wants to about these cases. And since the prosecution isn't allowed to talk about it, Trump's version will be the one that gets press coverage and poisons the jury pool - or at the very least files up another group of stochastic terrorists who want to shoot Biden, Harris, Obama, Pelosi, the prosecutors, judges and juries. Or, y'know, are willing to settle for mass-murdering blacks, Hispanics, Jews, protestors, socialists, teachers, librarians and whoever else has been vilified by reich-wing media.

Imgonnatrythis ,

So not an osteopath.

SulaymanF ,

Osteopaths in general are good and competent physicians, she’s just insane.

bluu ,
@bluu@lemmy.world avatar

Doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO) are legitimate doctors (at least from my experience in the US healthcare system). They function identically to doctors of allopathic medicine (MD) with the rare addition of osteopathic manipulation. But their standards of training and credentialing are essentially the same. You’ll find crackpot DOs and MDs if you look for them.

Source: I am a M.D. in the US.

Trebuchet ,

My bad, I had no idea. I assumed it was a similar system to that in my country.

She probably shouldn’t have driving or fishing licenses either.

Did she ask to speak to Ohio’s manager?

AllonzeeLV , (edited ) in Judge Chutkan says Trump’s right to free speech in January 6 case is ‘not absolute’

He does what he wants anyway, yet everyone is too afraid of incarcerating him for it.

The motherfucker loves testing boundaries. The only ones he’d have to respect are physical, ie walls he loves so much. His whole life has been walking past rules, norms, and shouldn’ts, taking what he wants, and bragging about it.

Walls, preferably 4 of them surrounding him pending trial based on his lengthy prior record of ignoring court orders.

But Old Man Richie Rich will of course die comfortably in his bed while poories of color continue to get summarily executed for looking suspicious.

The absolute worst case for him is compassionate house arrest in the lap of luxury. Funny how the courts always seem to reserve their allocation of compassion for wealthy felons despite our “equal protections under the law,” isn’t it? His bone spurs ache too much for big boy prison, plus his affluenza is acting up. And even that is highly unlikely in our rigged, corrupted judicial system.

treefrog ,

I knew old men in prison that could barely walk. He’s not ill enough for a compassionate house arrest.

My understanding is the secret service detail for life is what’s making prison unlikely. Not his health.

And if it is his health, he has no business running for a second term.

gAlienLifeform ,
@gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world avatar

Oh ffs, what is the secret service’s issue? He would be in federal prison, and if that’s a safe enough place for everyone else it’s safe enough for him. It’s not like they’d have to worry about snipers. And if they don’t like the idea of working in a prison as glorified DOC employees every day they can quit/get fired, I’m sure they’ll be able to find some other security work that lets them have periodic scandals with drunken driving and sex workers somewhere.

Zirconium , in This doctor said vaccines magnetize people. Ohio suspended her medical license.

I don’t know how we’re expected to just take this seriously? Any conspiracy theorists should have more evidence than “physician said it makes you magnetic and got suspended”

inclementimmigrant , in Disapproval of Elon Musk is top reason Tesla owners are selling, survey says

I own and still like the model 3 that I own but I’m not about to sell it just because Elon’s douchecanoe, that’s just dumb. Now I can guarantee that the next EV I get will not be a Tesla though because Musk’s action and values go too counter to my own now.

GodIsNull ,

But the rest of the car industry is fine and dandy?

chic_luke ,

False dychotomy. They’re not stating the rest of the industry is exempt from capitalism, but that they don’t have a loudly fascist-adjacent individual as a leading figure and, if I may add, they have better build quality and reliability than Tesla’s. At this point I have yet to meet in real life one single Tesla user who is happy with their purchase. Long before the Elon and Twitter drama, I recall one of my CS profs talking about their Tesla saying something like “The software and the self-driving features are what make this car valuable on the market, but, taken it as a car, it sucks compared to everything else”

nilloc , (edited )

The way they iterate on production cars means they can have much improved parts as time goes by. But they don’t tell anyone that they’re doing it, and can just as easily fucking yup an iteration and you’d have no idea it’s only on the few hundred or thousand cars made the that same month.

Finding parts is a nightmare and both production speed and treating cars like beta software is making it even worse.

The only thing that makes a used Tesla worth buying is the battery and drivetrain. Parting this parts out to car conversion is already a profitable business. The rest of the car is recycling.

This has been the case forever. Why is this ‘news’?

recently. not olds. news.

atzanteol ,

That’s not the only thing the story is about.

geekworking ,

Free speech has always had a line that is fluid until ruled on by a court.

This is news because the judge just drew the line regarding this case.

She is not going to even entertain any free speech bullshit if he leaks any privileged discovery information.

Stinkywinks , in What to know about Portland's "bare as you dare" World Naked Bike Ride

Is there a point? Are they protesting clothes? Is it not considered public indecentcy? I got a ticket when I was younger for mooning a cop. Can I get my 150 back? I hear if you piss in the bushes you can get a sexual predator charge. Idk how true that is.

GiddyGap OP ,

Public nudity is illegal in Portland, although court rulings have allowed it in instances of protest.

If you happen to stray from the group’s route in Saturday’s event, don’t fret: The public indecency ordinance does not apply to the Naked Bike Ride, the Portland Police Bureau confirmed to Axios.

Stinkywinks ,

So guess it’s a protest for cyclist safety, against oil dependency and in support of body positivity. I feel like it would be more unsafe naked, road rash will sure hurt. I’m not sure naked bike riders are going to stop climate change or get people to make more bike lanes. Especially if they already said, “go for it.” Id do it for fun though lol.

distantsounds ,

You can do it just for the fun of it. I did it a few times (not portland) & it’s one of the most fun liberating things I’ve been a part of. It’s very positive event and a good time. It does confuse some people i suppose
