Yes. To get back to normality, we must pass through this extreme, which is the necessary counter to defunding and demonizing the police as opposed to holding only the bad ones responsible for their actions. We’ll be in this state until we remove qualified immunity. So it will probably take a while.

can you even imagine? in these situations the kid would be lucky if it died first. if not, the kid was kept alive by the adults long enough for it to watch the adults die, then the kid had to die alone in the tent while it waited in the cold just for nobody to come and help. poor thing. I’m terrified just writing this out.
People can’t survive in the wilderness. At least without a decent size community to support them. There are folks who make it years alone with training and knowledge, but you are always just one mistake or circumstance away from death. Humans are not built to survive alone.
The only way a small number of people survive alone is by having money and a large group of people to buy things from and have those things brought to them by the large group… Oh wait… That’s not alone… Right right. My bad.
this is what being conservative is all about. There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

Oh, I don’t think there’s cognitive dissonance at all. This goes with their pro-gun stance. “If you want to be protected, be prepared.” So, of course, you combat guns by spending huge amounts of taxpayer money on bulletproof windows. The other solution, reducing the amount of guns in the community, is not something they could even begin to entertain as an idea.
Ten bucks says that he practiced that face in the mirror. He’s trying to come off as a tough guy. Instead he looks like the old man at McDonald’s who was just told he won’t get another refill on his senior coffee after he used a slur to refer to the kid behind the counter.
The judge’s rationale is that he’d be victimized because of his appearance. If the justice system can’t trust itself not to allow extrajudicial punishment by other inmates enough to give people the sentences they deserve, isn’t that their fucking problem and not the victims’?
It could have that babyface all his life depending on genetics. The judges take was fucking dumb. Besides I hear they protect pedos in prison because no matter how they look they will get fucked up.
So all this judge did was hurt the victim. Shame on him.
Judge should join him tbh. Incompetence like that cannot be tolerated. Start throwing these chucklefucks in prison for judicial misconduct. It starts with abolishing qualified AND absolute immunity.
Parents really shouldn’t be posting videos of their kids on the interment. As someone who occasionally has to sort through applicants at work… yes, we do see these videos. We also see their baby photos and their graduation photos. If that creeps you out… it creeps me out, too.
We all act like everyone else is a stranger and we’re alone in the “city” of the internet, but the actual dynamic plays out in a much more “townie” manner. We should act more like inhabitants of a small island where everyone knows each other.
Having literally been an inhabitant of a small island at one point in my life is the exact reason I have no active social media presence that is not pseudonymous. Life is different when you know you might suddenly be recognized by a stranger at the grocery store who saw your public comment on Facebook.
