I think the way to respond to this is not to acknowledge it. Just keep challenging him to “the” agreed debate on abc. Keep saying he’s too chicken to debate you.
Every time you expose yourself to the virus is another roll of the dice.
Efficacy is just an average of everyone’s experience. Some people use a mask every time they go out, and infrequently leave their home. Other’s are regularly exposed to the virus by choice, or by necessity.
The left never told you the vaccine would be an impenetrable wall. Especially infection is kinda hard to prevent. The vaccines drastically reduce hospitalization and death though.
I also know people who get it over and over again. All they do is go to work and then go home. They see a few people on the weekend but mostly just their grandchildren. I used to blame them for it (not out loud of course) but now I just think they are just more susceptible to covid than most others.
Either way, I hope you fell better soon. Hopefully, after a few months, you can get a booster which may raise your immunity.

May I ask why? Legit question. I still occasionally see folks masking and such in my area, but the vast majority of people have gone back to pre-pandemic behaviors. Cases still pop up here and there but most folks treat it like flu… if you get sick, stay home until you’re better.
If you’ve got an immune issue, I get it. But otherwise, why bother?
Because being sick is inconvenient and I’m a busy person with shit to do.
If it’s something like BART during commute hours, I wear a mask. Before the pandemic I was sick once a month from riding that stupid subway. Now that I mask in tight crowded places, that happens much less often.
You do realize that the mask doesn’t really protect you, it mostly protects others from getting sick from any diseases you might be carrying. So masking only makes sense if you’re sick, not to prevent yourself from getting sick.
Simple for me: I loooove food. I hate colds, because then I can’t taste. Between 2020-2023 I never got a cold where I’d normally get one 1-3 times a year.
I haven’t gotten one in 2024 yet either. I will gladly wear a mask in public places and use hand sanitizer if it means a lower chance of getting a cold.
Damn, I’m sorry people need to be reminded of the terrible toll COVID has taken.
I wear a mask every time I’m indoors with people because, despite the vaccines, every case is an incubation opportunity for the virus to mutate a way around them.
Because it (n95, kf94, etc) helps protect myself from getting other airborne diseases like the flu, especially in crowded places like concerts. I also live in a place that has some type of allergen (pollen, ragweed, etc) all year round, and masking outdoors helps reduce the impact of allergies.
COVID might stick around in your organs and causing a plethora of bad (even fatal) long term effects even when asymptomatic. It’s not anything like flu.
Besides other people 's excellent points, there’s the matter of keeping loved ones from getting it who are more vulnerable. My spouse is fully vaccinated but I’ve seen him hospitalized too many times for what started as a cold or flu and became pneumonia. Neither of us has ever caught COVID and I intend to keep it that way.
Depending on the venue it’s absolutely straightforward sense to wear a mask. Airports, trains, concerts, generally any crowded poorly ventilated indoors.
Uhh have you heard of long COVID? More and more people are becoming disabled because of this. Before too long it’ll be more common to have it than not.
I have a toddler who brings home new sicknesses every damn week, it seems, and I work in a small enclosed shop with my coworkers, customers coming and going all the time, and a 90 year-old boss who might well die if he gets sick. I’m the primary threat to all of them, so I never stopped wearing a mask at work.
At least for covid, hand sanitizer is completely useless, though. It’s not transmitted via smear infection (or at least very very rarely).
For other stuff it might be helpful, but even then moderation is a virtue, since that stuff dries out your skin and might create more open wounds - ask any nurse.
I’d love to give you a Dixie cup of apple juice and a Graham cracker, and a little square of carpet so you can be comfy with a full tum-tum during story time, but I don’t know where your kindergarten is.
The fact that its Carter doesnt mean a whole lot, hes already one of the nicest guys to come out of America. It would be more of an endorsement of someone like Bush were to be disavowing Trump

Trump tried to not lower the flag for the officers killed during the insurrection, he tried to not lower the flag when a member of Congress died (McCain) he will try to do the same when Carter dies, if that day comes may every peanut forever sour to his touch. Kidding aside, Carter worked for this country, that can’t be said for the person he refuses to vote for.
If you live near a Costco you can get socks and underwear relatively cheap. I think the last time I bought a six pack of boxer briefs it was like 10-12 bucks
No Costco, but we have Sam’s. I’m usually better at seeking deals, but I happened to have my kid with me when we were running another errand, so I didn’t get to do my usual strategic pricing. I just had no idea underclothes were one of the things I need to be strategic about. Anyway, I hope his butt is comfortable this school year!
It was two packs of Hanes and UA socks that were on clearance. I had sticker shock at the total, but it guess it works out to around $20ish per pack which is about on par with my expectations. My kid is 16, and if I didn’t intervene, he’d shove his foot into moldy old socks from when he was 10 and never complain. So I try to get him to go clean out his drawers as part of our back to school shopping.
