That's kind of the only reason middlemen middlepeople exist. To buy things for a lower price, sell those same things at a higher price, and keep the difference.
There is a level of value being added when the middlepeople handle transportation, logistics, ensure availability, etc. It isn’t only buying and selling in a vacuum like the stock market.
That said, a lot of them take far more value than they add, which is a problem.
Agreed for most cases. But for the medical industry, pharmacy benefit managers, which are largely owned by the insurance companies, do nothing but drive up the price because they are acting more like a monopsony. So it’s a case of the insurance companies often getting paid two (if they own the pharmacy benefit manager) or three times (if they own the clinic) and adding an extra cost each step of the way.
Sorta. As a middleman who works his ass off to make other people’s lives easier, it’s not quite as black and white. My job is kind of unique, though. We are geographically located in the only access point for a niche market. Our vendors physically cannot supply our customers, so we middle.
I’m sure there are a shitload of useless middlers suckling off the consumer’s teat, but sometimes we are necessary.
“Shattered”…way to reach for clicks! Anyways, I agree with the sentiment. Last year, here in Texas, Greg Abbott decided to eliminate the local rules that mandated water breaks. I’m still don’t see the benefit of that action, since we’re breaking heat records on the reg these days 🤷♂️ it makes me thinks it’s a way to get rid of the “undesireables” so he can lease prison slaves for much less $$?
Guys it’s fine he said he like, thinks it’s a separate thing and stuff. I’m sure the new god king powers will be fine as well, don’t forget that other guy was a bit slow in the debate!
I have no sympathy. I’ve dealt with a lot of difficulties being gay, and yes in some ways the fact that I get less real political options sucks, but the solution isn’t to decide that it’s ok with fascists when they’re gay.
I see all these “heat advisories” being issued where I live and elsewhere, for temperatures around 98-100 F. How much you want to bet in a few years those temps won’t be classified as heat advisories anymore, and it will be because corporate lobbyists managed to keep heat protections away from U.S. workers dying in the heat.
We went from bins to no bins and now back to bins. Not sure when NYC originally quit using metal trash cans, but that was a thing back in the day. Where I lived we used metal bins until the late ‘80s and then had to use municipal containers in the ‘90s.
Wow 3 million people had to endure their security Kabuki in one day? So glad we have the TSA as a safety net for all the out of work theme park gate keepers.
On one hand, kudos to figuring out how to do this. On the other hand, aren’t scalpers reselling at a much higher rate in order to make profit? Aren’t ticketmaster’s costs already outrageous? Regardless of the outcome of this case, consumers still seem to lose…
