flossdaily , in ‘Corrupt as hell’: Clarence Thomas faces fresh calls to resign after more billionaire gifts revealed

If Republicans had even a single ounce of integrity, they would be demanding he resign.

But they would rather have an openly corrupt judge that votes their way on every single than to allow Biden to nominate an honest moderate.

KroninJ ,
@KroninJ@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not sure about the majority but my dad has this mentality that liberals are the corrupt ones and you’re delusional if you think Republicans are corrupt in any way.

Showing him this new from many different sites only results in “the libs are behind this and just trying to discredit the other side.” (But an article on a conservative site that can’t be found anywhere else is completely legit) There’s no reasoning with that type because reasoning isn’t there anymore.

flossdaily ,

I’m sorry that this cult has poisoned your dad.

KroninJ ,

On the plus side, I haven’t had a great relationship with him my whole life. I’ve cut him off from my life several times and the only reason I started talking to him again was because he seemed different (from previous issues between us) at his dad’s funeral. He has at least followed my stipulations I set if he wants to continue to talk to me.

Sorry to hear about your best friend. Hopefully it’s still one of those good relationships ‘as long as politics don’t come up’ kind of thing. But that’s a difficult one nowadays.

I want that on a t-shirt. ‘Jesus was a beta cuck socialist’.

flop_leash_973 , in Pastor alarmed after Trump-loving congregants deride Jesus' teachings as 'weak'

I told someone awhile back that in my opinion a lot of the people in positions of influence don’t really understand or appreciate the danger of playing with the type of fire supporting or indulging the ideas that Trump represents brings with it.

It is not as big a leap to go from supporting prosecuting women for having an abortion to save their lives to getting the idea that Governor Abbott has a weak bloodline, due to being in a wheelchair, and should be removed so he is not a drain on the state resources better used for the betterment of the strong as those supporters seem to think.

Essentially they severely overestimate the control they wield over the leopard that will eventually eat their face.

Taako_Tuesday ,

How the hell did I never know Greg Abbott uses a wheelchair

flop_leash_973 ,

Kind of makes his support for such hard right policies seem even more tone deaf doesn’t it? He is literally supporting something that it is not hard to see will come for him, and those like him.

No, it makes perfect sense. It’s along the lines of Clarence Thomas siding with getting rid of Affirmative Action even though he was a recipient of it. It makes perfect sense once you remember conservatives think they are special, and live by “Fuck you, I got mine.” They got theirs, and they do not at all care that people coming after them can’t get the leg-up they got.

The articles you link not only don’t make your case, but seem to oppose it.

The Congressional shooter was protesting taxes and fired at his local congressman.

Your other link details a bunch of cops responding with deadly force to protesters.

Which part of this is supposed to show that liberals are violent or approve of violence? Not a huge fan of liberals myself, but they aren’t out there conspiring to kidnap governors or making pipe bombs to threaten Congress. Liberals aren’t stockpiling guns and sending threatening letters and manifestos to politicians.

Right wing nationalists are doing those things and they are getting off too lightly if they are even punished at all so the problem is getting worse, not better.

Mdotaut801 , in Disapproval of Elon Musk is top reason Tesla owners are selling, survey says

    Imotali ,
    @Imotali@lemmy.world avatar

The top end Tesla loses blow for blow in all bit range (nominally) and charger availability (which is changing) to Porsche… for $4,000 more.

Oh and the Porsche’s frame was formally an ICE so it’s a tried and tested frame that’s received multiple iterations to hone the design.

Tesla’s would be nice if they were priced $15k cheaper… and they’d still be piles of shit that spy on you.

    OppositeOfOxymoron ,

The vehicles are decent, the service is terminally putrid. Bad alignment from the factory ruined $5k in tires, Tesla offered me $500 off the cost of replacement.

I took it in for another issue, and when I told the tech about how the car burned through the inside edge of the tires on the car, he said “Yeah, they do that.” and followed it with a recommendation that I get wheel alignments TWICE A YEAR.

    MetricIsRight ,

I work in the rim and tire industry. We have anywhere between 10-14 installs a week (just tires or tire and rim packages etc) we deal with a LOT of Tesla’s. They ALL do this. Alignments barely help, they are heavy cars with very poor suspension geometry. I know for the model S there was an aftermarket company that made a kit to fix the excessive camber in the rear to alleviate the tire wear issue but I’m not too sure on other models. I see and work on at least 3 Tesla’s a week, seeing what I’ve seen, even if someone offered me one for free. I would trade it for another EV.

    OppositeOfOxymoron ,

I get that the cars are heavy, but the tires should wear evenly - 80,000lb tractor trailers don’t burn through the inside edge of tires at 25% of their usable life… As far as suspension is concerned, they did replace parts in the rear to allow them to better adjust the alignment, and I’ve put fewer miles on the vehicle this year, plus had a warranty repair that required re-aligning all tires again… But I’m going to be super pissed if it happens a second time.

Mdotaut801 , in Pastor alarmed after Trump-loving congregants deride Jesus' teachings as 'weak'

How is this pastor “alarmed” about what comes out of the orange cunt’s anus-esque lips? Doesn’t he know who he voted for and keeps up on current events or….?

Pat , in Disapproval of Elon Musk is top reason Tesla owners are selling, survey says

This simply says that Elon succeeded. Guys a shithead, but his goal with Tesla was to kickstart the progress of electric cars. Tesla can go under for all I care, they did manage to get other companies to care about producing EVs and now there are tons available. They're no longer a monopoly on electric vehicles and I'm quite happy about that, people have choice now.

    ashok36 ,

Tesla is as much a battery company as a car company, yeah. If they can sell batteries to all the other car makers they still win.

Twitter/X is surely legally complicit in this. Thought you guys over there had the FBI for this? Surely you can all report them to the FBI and tr and trigger an investigation into the website’s management?

    Hype ,

The FBI serves the government, not the people. Reporting things to the FBI as a citizen only works if what you are reporting aligns with the current goals of the FBI. If the government is ok with what Twitter/X is doing, the FBI doesn’t give a shit. Behold the highly effective bribery lobbying system.

The medical community needs to come down harder on these people, if you ask me. It’s not a free speech matter when junk science is being proliferated and causing people’s deaths, and there should be professional and legal consequences for people who do this.
