I want to see this video

june ,

Thanks!

Looks nothing like a lion to me.

KaJedBear , in TSMC: Chip giant delays Arizona production in blow to Biden

Calling this a blow to Biden is a big stretch. What a garbage click bait headline.

gAlienLifeform , in Netflix says people just kind of rolled over and accepted the password sharing crackdown
@gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world avatar

And their revenue is still down and they had the worst day for their stock price ever when they announced this news. People are too tired and stressed out to fight a dying behemoth that used to be good like we’re living in a Dark Souls game or something.

FuglyDuck , in Alabama GOP refuses to draw second Black district, despite Supreme Court order
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

“Fine you don’t get to participate in the next election” seems like an appropriate response?

Naw, maybe not. But then that’s the kinda shot we go for here.

stu ,
@stu@lemmy.pit.ninja avatar

This seems like the kind of thing where the justice department could be exerting pressure and building a federal case. I’d be interested to see what kinds of emails are flying around behind the scenes.

captainlezbian ,

The historical precedent is “fine we’ll run your election then and we’ll have armed troops protecting it”. It’s literally Biden’s job to enforce this

In a fair and just world, the leader of the body would be put into prison until the Court's decision was applied. Each new leader would come to this fate until the situation was rectified to the ruling's satisfaction. Essentially, it's a contempt of court condition, and the person in charge is responsible for satisfying the order. That's why they're in charge, and why they (at least in most cases) get paid more.

We seem to have forgotten that actions should have consequences other than trivial fiscal or paper declaration penalties.

RBWells , in Advocates say new Florida standards require slavery to be taught as 'beneficial'

Yeah I live here & had the unfortunate opportunity to hear the Dept of Ed try to spin this in an interview. Their spokesperson said, to paraphrase, that “No, of course not. These standards are evenhanded and show the good and the bad from an objective perspective.”

Of who? I am just so sad - my oldest kids made it though during the brief shining period of good education in my county, but I have one with a couple of years left, who is seeing it plunge back into the bullshit ‘education’ that was what I suffered through. Just butts in seats, indoctrinate don’t educate, that might lead to thinking.

prole , in Texas worker accused of being on drugs was actually dying of heatstroke

So let’s pass a law that removes any requirement in Texas to allow construction workers to drink water while they are working… That’ll fix things.

Fucking evil shit.

thisbenzingring , in Tony Bennett, US singer with seven-decade career, dies aged 96

Sad but what a life! He was one of the greatest singers of all time!

FartsWithAnAccent , in Alabama GOP refuses to draw second Black district, despite Supreme Court order
@FartsWithAnAccent@lemmy.world avatar

They did this in Ohio and Wisconsin too: Apparently the GOP can straight up ignore the law, ignore rulings, and nothing happens to them.

FuglyDuck , in Grassley releases full FBI memo with unverified claims about Hunter Biden's work in Ukraine
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

These guys are obsessed with his dick. They’re never gonna let this go.

Lenins2ndCat , in Woman suing Texas over abortion ban vomits on the stand in emotional reaction during dramatic hearing
@Lenins2ndCat@lemmy.world avatar

Was the video not in the article? I skimmed and watched that top one but saw it nowhere?

Does anyone have it? Depending on how the person comes across in the moment it occurred the shock impact of these events is often useful at getting through to people.

manitcor , in Netflix says people just kind of rolled over and accepted the password sharing crackdown

too tired? from what im seeing the vast majority of people just don’t care. they are fine with thier internet becoming more expensive and handing everything to these companies. most simply think this is the only option.

gAlienLifeform ,
@gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, that sounds exactly like tired/defeated thinking to me. Frustrating to see it play out, tho.

thisbenzingring ,

From my experience, brother in law hates it. Wants to cancel but the kids (2 preteens) watch it a lot and he just doesn’t want to use something new that he has to relearn to be comfortable leaving them alone with.

Fair, exhausted parents trying to buy a moment of peace has been a cornerstone of American capitalism since RCA used Howdy Doody to sell television sets

MicroWave OP , in 13-year-old girl kidnapped at gunpoint in Texas rescued in Long Beach thanks to 'help me' sign
@MicroWave@lemmy.world avatar

“Something [was] wrong with his eyes … scared when he looked at me,” said Vong, who recalled seeing fear in the girl’s face.

While Sablan was away, the girl – still in the car – wrote "Help Me’’ on a note and showed it to people passing by, prompting one of them to call police.

Responding officers found the girl, and she mouthed the word "help’’ to them, according to prosecutors.

Pandantic , in David Hunter guilty of seriously ill wife's manslaughter in Cyprus
@Pandantic@lemmy.world avatar

Assisted suicide should be legal, at least for incurable, painful disease (and many other things if you ask me). This poor man should not been made to kill his wife personally to save her from suffering. That is cruel to both him and his wife, who could have gone in a much more peaceful way.

Chickenstalker , in Alabama GOP refuses to draw second Black district, despite Supreme Court order
