I know what you mean, but I’ve been trying to branch out into more direct media. Things like webcomics, or The Onion. I might even start reading actual gaming news sites that I like instead of getting it all second hand from Reddit.
It’s definitely left a gap, but sometimes it’s good to move on.
Haven’t logged in on Reddit for a while. It feels good not to doomscroll for hours a day. Lemmy is less addicting and less time-wasting and actually has valuable comments whereas Reddit’s comment section is mostly pure garbage that I feel compelled to upvote (probably my compulsive tendencies though). But I still use Reddit to search up stuff, however on Old Reddit I think they added a feature where they put recommended posts IN THE COMMENT SECTION and you have to scroll for a while to access the other comments. Idk if that’s new or it’s something I just noticed but that’s such an asshole design.
I sometimes wonder how today’s media is going to be seen in 10-20 years, when EVs are much faster and cheaper than gas cars so they’ve completely taken over.
“Mommy, why do the cars on TV all make fart sounds?”
There’s a vicious circle where the less public service you’ll set in a rural areas the more people will move away from it. If you want people to moove back from dense to rural areas you got to give them some decent services.
You can also have bus services to train stations. The busses would just need to be less frequent, so you would need to plan your travel further ahead of time. There is no reason we can’t service most of America with some public transport options.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !micromobility
Electric cars will still be making fart sounds in 10-20 years. They already sell cars that generate artificial engine noise and play it through speakers.
And yet the electric Mustang is totally silent. I’m still not sure how to feel about that, or the fact that someone decided that a muscle car should have an electric version
I saw a helmet cam chase from Brazil recently. Like 6 or 8 minutes, and damn. The cop and the thieves deserved some sort of awards for that action sequence. It was a riveting start to finish, but it was motorcycles. I believe the suburban area they were tearing through is referred to as a favela(?), but mi no habla Portuguese/Espanol, whatever they were speaking
