And it only appears to check the size of downloaded assets and then whether the hosting provider is known to use renewables. Indeed not terribly exhaustive or useful.
Say you made this, but insulated… does a car battery have enough structural strength in the terminals, though? I imagine you’re left holding a handle with two terminals and half a cell stuck to each.
Yeah, they’d be fine. It’s surprisingly difficult to break them apart. The load would spread out to almost the full width of the battery on either end (ie the plates attached to the terminals against the underside of the lid). Some of the models I ship use plastic straps that hook onto the seam between the lid and base and you can really toss em around before they take damage. (some people are less than gentle with parts :/ but I’m not the manager so 🤷)
Some of the larger batteries with screw terminals might not survive, but the ones where these clamp style are used would be fine.
I’ve gotten some from a brand called “Duco.” I don’t know anything about the brand except that they’ve been decent sunglasses (though they do scratch easily) and relatively inexpensive (though their price has gone up).
It’s fun what polarized sunglasses do though, tilting your head makes some things appear differently. Like tinting on car windows or asphalt on some parking lots.
Because she wasn’t. She was the first woman to fly Solo across the Atlantic. The fated flight would have seen her become the first woman to Fly around the world, no mention of being Solo.
Do they force you into it anyways? Two jobs ago I told them that all the time. They used to make us fill out a career advancement plan every year, and every year I said “I’m exactly where I want to be”, but every 6 months they’d stick me at the head of some team and I’d have to do that for a few months until I weasled my way out of it.
The only good guys in this conflict are the innocent uninvolved citizens on all sides. Aside from that, everyone involved, including those on the ground on the conflict, those in the situation rooms, and those both funding and manipulating the situation from outside are all the bad guys.
Anyone who tries to paint this as a simple moral conclusion, and not as one part in one of the most complicated and difficult geopolitical situations on the entire planet, is either an idiot or part of a propaganda campaign, knowingly or not. These trite oversimplifications are insultingly reductive to the situation, do nothing to help any of the actual potential victims, and only serve to foster both misinformed reductive thinking and harmful attitudes towards groups without the full context to reconcile these impressions.
There is an information war being waged by many forces on all sides of this conflict right now; be wary of anyone who encourages reductive thinking on complex issues when lives are on the line.
You’re 100% right, and your view aligns very closely with mine. It’s also very well worded; nicely done.
I’m extremely frustrated with the loss of innocent lives. I realize my meme is oversimplifying, but that is inherit to the format of memes themselves. In this case my meme serves to vent my frustrations with an appalling situation and to serve as a jumping off point for deeper conversations.
No matter the frothing at the mouth, anyone not directly involved in the decision making process of this ‘war’ is essentially powerless. We can pressure our governments to not fund a given side, but that’s about the extent of it.
My siblings and I worked out a system that essentially boiled down to first come first serve, but after at least an hour the others could ask for the remote. Any disagreement led to an informal vote on what to watch, the one with the remote had to oblige
