Sounds like conservapedia, but that looks like this:

I tried the “search within pages”, but it just gave me the worst idea ever, followed by articles not about the US:

The most hilarious part of that to me is that he put it all the way at the bottom, even below the references.

I really wanted to try Forza Horizon but the closest game like it I could get my hands on was NFS Heat, which I had a lot fun playing. Riders Republic was also fun if you want a non car racing game. I guess I’m just into open world racing.

The only day on the Israeli calendar.

    MisterScruffy ,

The victims fought back, which is not allowed

    Kusimulkku ,

Not sure fighting back was the best move in this case, since it caused this sort of response. But it’s not really for me to do that math

    MisterScruffy ,

There are no good moves for the oppressed group in an apartheid state. Nelson Mandela was considered a terrorist by the US for fighting against the South Africa apartheid state

    Kusimulkku ,

No but some actions have a bigger return than others. To me the October 7 attacks don’t seem like they gained much consider how many have died, but like said, it’s not for me to calculate that or decide if it’s a good exchange. Maybe Gazans consider it a good outcome, I dunno.

    andrew_bidlaw ,
    @andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works avatar

Gazans are disposables for every party involved besides gazans themselves. Both Hamas heads elsewhere and Bibi’s admin had a streak of luck with these attack and response since it gave them a reason to be and get international support. Although this situation wasn’t okay since the formation of Israel as a state, I don’t side with people who want either Palestine or Israel to become undone since both exist for longer than I’m here, but what I miss is a peacekeeping mission that’d at least stop the bloodshed and it’s funding.

    Kusimulkku ,

It might be hard to get a peacekeeping mission going there since many countries would never want to get involved in the political clusterfuck that Israel/Palestine thing is. You’d need a country that’s acceptable to both sides and who wouldn’t mind getting involved when things get tough. What to do when one side strikes against the other and so on.

    andrew_bidlaw ,
    @andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yep, moreso after Balkans and after US leaving Afghan. No one wants to take responsibility and send their guys as a mere body shield, especially as other countries are not prepared to react on their troops being killed by either side, especially Israel. That, though, is the only way I see these attrocities getting stopped, because I don’t see any economical mechanism slowing down the genocide of gazans. In spite of all shit US and UN had for being involved in foreign politics, that’s the time they can do good and save people, and it’s kind of dishearting that it’s the time they’d not as long as it’s possible.

    Gerudo ,

There is fighting back, and then there is their response.

Think of it like the Proud Boys went to Mexico and gunned down a small town and took hostages back to Texas. Mexico attacks the Proud Boys in response, then starts wiping out hospitals, schools, residential zones in Oklahoma and New Mexico, places and people that have nothing to do with the Proud Boys. And the world stands by and watches.

    finitebanjo ,

The vast majority of Palestinians killed were women and children. Israel didn’t fight back against Hamas, it’s goal is Genocide and if Hamas disappears then Israel won’t have their precious excuse anymore.

    Mouselemming ,

Buncha actual Hamas adults attacked Israel and killed 815 civilians

“they include two infants, 12 other children under the age of 10, 36 civilians aged 10-19, and 25 elderly people over the age of 80.”

A response was appropriate. But THIS response is Vlad the Impaler levels of overkill. Israel of all nations should know that a brutal genocide will turn world support to its victims and radicalize its survivors.

    lunarul ,

But THIS response is Vlad the Impaler levels of overkill.

I resent the comparison to one of my country’s most beloved leaders.

Katana314 , to games in People seem to really dislike Destiny 2. Why haven't they ended it yet?

I honestly tried to get back into it with an old account. Apparently, the entire world went up in power level with no exceptions, but not my character - meaning there was literally not a single enemy I could kill across the PVE environment to gain better gear/levels to contend with enemies.

I did not feel like making a new character or redoing the tutorial so I decided to not even bother, taking it as a sign the game was poorly thought out.

At the moment Assetto Corsa and Wreckfest.

Assetto Corsa because it’s a simracing sandbox. I’ve modded it to hell with Content Manager and CSP. I also have a lot of paid mods for mainly formula cars like the RSS Formula 1/2/3/4 cars and the VRC Formula E cars. The AI is the perfect level of silly to cause absolute mayhem with the right settings, but also pretty interesting races when you want them to behave.

Wreckfest is a joy on the Steam deck and for casual mayhem. It still has a nice driving model imo, while remaining casual. The maps are optimized for crashing into others which means you’re never safe.

Oh man, every Palestinian had an ID number? Man those could have just been tattooed on every person to make sure Israel could keep track of them better.

No idea why Israel didn’t think of that. Seems obvious to use in your fenced in area that everyone has to be carefully released from for either work or because they died.

Holy shit… Never thought of it like that… But yes!! - just check out the comments referencing IBM!!! They’re still just fucking chugging along, line go up for IBM stockholders, as if it was no fucking big deal to make the very goddamn punchcards and tabulators that led so many Jews to their horrible, untimely ends in all those concentration camps. And now, I guess “business” is good again…

    KillingTimeItself ,

i mean, are we that deep? The nazis managed to kill like 6 million jews, idk how much of a population percentage that is, but so far we’re up to like 40k dead. and like 200k displaced? half a million displaced? Something like that.

    ScruffyDucky ,

    mightyfoolish ,

I pray Intel implodes after the recent news that their CPUs have an oxidation issue.

    PM_Your_Nudes_Please , (edited )

Is it oxidation? I thought it was a voltage control issue, where they randomly sent too much power to components and burned them out. And over time, those burnt out components and errors would compound and your CPU would essentially get Alzheimer’s.

    mightyfoolish ,

I can check later. I distinctly remember “oxidation” from a GamersNexus video but I could be remembering wrong.

    KillingTimeItself ,

the oxidation is likely caused by the voltage problem, it’s one in the same.

    _____ ,

Nah. Too many Intel fanboys. I know dozens of braindead gamers who insta buy Intel because (a decade ago) Intel had the best performance. I imagine they have thousands of equally braindead customers.

    KillingTimeItself , (edited )

intel has an israeli fab, so that’s why.

    TimewornTraveler , (edited )

every American has an ID number too… I get the comparison you’re making but I don’t think birth certificates are inherently dystopian. there’s plenty of actual shit to be mad about, such as 14 pages of dead babies, without having to complain about mundane shit

    Krauerking ,

LOL yeah I know. They actually are helpful for any developed country but seeing a document of a list of 34,000 dead humans from newborns to “old” that Palestine is trying to prove were real by using the identification numbers and knowing how Israel uses their labor force and tracks them made me feel the parallels to a historical use, a little heavily.

I kinda figured they should just go all the way with it.

fleton , to linuxmemes in One big happy family.

Just curious does anyone actually care about what distro people use or more just a meme?

    miau ,

Definetely a meme at least among my friends and coworkers. Just a friendly banter akin to prefering console vs pc or supporting one sports team rather than the other

    OR3X ,

There are a not insignificant number of people in the Linux community who feel that the more user friendly focused distros are for “beginners” and the distros that less so are for “experts” and there is a lot of elitism and gatekeeping that goes along with that sentiment. In reality they’re all running the Linux kernel so they’re all equally valid options. Use what works best for you and ignore the chuds who try to tell you otherwise.

    dejected_warp_core ,

The only time I’ve encountered people that care a little too much about what distro is being used, is right after having transitioned to Linux; the sheer liberating potential of the thing can make you lose your head.

I’ve come across a lot of professional bias about Linux distros, but that’s usually due to real-world experience with tough or bad projects. Some times, decisions are made that make a given distro the villain or even the hero of the story. In the end, you’ll hear a lot of praise and hate, but context absolutely matters.

There’s also the very natural tendency to seek external validation for your actions/decisions. But some people just can’t self-actualize in a way that’s healthy. Sprinkle a little personal insecurity into the mix and presto: “someone is getting on great with that other Linux I don’t use, so Imma get big mad.”

    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PyPy

Their greatest mistake was not naming it Ouroboros.

    BatmanAoD ,

The reason C becomes relevant to Python users isn’t typically because the interpreter is written in C, but because so many important libraries (especially numpy) are implemented in C.

    _stranger_ ,

Oh for sure, and some of those are not ok with swapping the interpreter out 🤣
