While whisker fatigue is in debate, it’s true some cats are weird about touching the bowl. I personally feed the cats on the same plates I eat from and they get water from a fountain. But I have known many cats who were fine with a bowl too. I think the main thing is the material of the receptacle. Some plastics can hold bacteria that makes their lil faces break out. :(
I also use the same plates we use, but they would still ask for me to throw out the food and serve a new batch everytime (I don’t actually throw out the food but ‘recycle’ it).
This is my experience, too. We’ve had a lot of cats (many rescues), and some really do have problems with the deeper bowls, while most others don’t. We got some shallow bowls years ago, and those work well. We tried just using small plates, but a lot of cats will push the food over the edge and make a mess, so some sort of rim is important for us.
Then there is my cat who stuffes half of his body in a 5cm diameter pudding container just so that he can reach the very last drop of it. Then wonders why he is stuck and as soon as I save him from his pudding prison he does the same again.
With open source and interoperability, this is a good thing, because then you can choose the experience you wanna have. You’re not bound to a single vendor-locked platform that’s subject to continuity issues or a degraded experience that forces you to move elsewhere and start over in terms of following/followers. You simply pack up and migrate to another instance.
This ! Also, I'm kind of disappointed how many of my peers just waited for the #reddit#blackout to pass, so they can go back to buissness as usual. Supringsingly, to me, there are a lot of people who enjoy corponet just fine.
I would wager most of nowadays instances have either fallen into obscurity or just finished existing, I think we will see instancea more focused in scalability if thr fediverse grows in popularity, whoch will kind of dominate the space.
If I had to guess for a few I would say beehaw and lemm.ee will also still be alive in some way or another, but I dont think they will keep being as big in proportion to other instances as they are now.
I think I got up to 300 or so days on my old Athlon XP Gentoo server. I have “upgraded” since then and my current server can’t go more than 2 days. I have an arduino connected to the motherboards reset button pin that resets it whenever the bash script that communicates with the arduino stops running but even that somehow still crashes at least once a week and needs manual intervention.
If Joel McHale turned out to run an international child sex trafficking ring would my picture with him indicate that I was part of the ring?
I HATE Elon, but this whole…
“See see see! There is a picture of them both at the NYC 9/11 Firefighters Fundraiser event in 2009!!! <Insert celebrity here that was at the event and pictured with Maxwell or Epstein> must also be a Satan worshipping child rapist/murderer.”
That’s what I thought. Maybe due to voltage spike in the house. But it is definitely strange. Never seen something like this since I started studying/working with electronics for the past 8 years.
That might be it. I was thinking it could the a spike in voltage that shorted the traces. But nothing else got damaged in the house, so it is less likely.
