Hello Lemmy Android community!...
I personally can’t wait to see communities like r/hiphopheads, r/internetisbeautiful, r/listentothis, r/battlestations… join lemmy and become as active as they are on reddit. what are some of y’all fav?
Reddit is going to have their IPO. Anybody can buy shares. With enough shares, a shareholder resolution could be proposed and passed. Similar shareholder activism has forced Fortune 500 companies to divest from fossil fuels. We could replace corporate execs at will and have major site changes be put to a site-wide vote. This is...
by far my favorite console of all time since i first got it, i love pretty much everything on it. someone actually ported a game to the gamecube in the modern day (albeit it needs Swiss, a homebrew app to run) and it’s just so cool to see that it refuses to die
There are a few noteworthy ones that have significantly enhanced my digital experience. Let me share them with you:...
I’m a FOSS (free and open source software) contributor and enthusiast. So I prefer to use such products (Lemmy instead of Reddit, Linux instead of Windows, Firefox instead of Chrome, Signal instead of WhatsApp, you get the idea). Was just thinking that if everyone moved to such solutions, the tech and ad industry would lose...
I have been having some trouble doing this and was wondering if it is a common theme or there is room to make it better....
I haven’t really posted a lot to r/selfhosted (or Reddit in general), but whenever I did, there was always someone who voted my post down in less than 30 minutes after it was posted. Maybe because of this (or maybe because they were actually perceived as low quality posts), these posts never received a lot of engagement with...

I’ve made mods and basic programs (literally and figuratively), but I’ve never messed with internet stuff other than networking and mostly on the hardware side....

First of all, I’m sorry if this isn’t the best place to post this; but I’m not aware of any more general tech support / PC building / ASUS forums here that I could post this to instead....
period
My 8 year old son told me this randomly after getting out of the shower this morning.
I have had Google as an app disabled for the past 2 months. I don’t use google assistant or anything like that and I have had no issues. I’m not going to uninstall the play store, google play services or carrier services since I know those are pretty much integral to my phone....
I never really hear about this in particular. Are there streaming sites that have it? Torrents?
I thought all apps were broken on July 1st?
I’ll start, mine will be Google Notes, 1Password and WhatsApp.
What is an instance? what is a federation? what is a server? can someone please describe in simple terms how this all runs and how we as users navigate it?
I am not sure if it the right place to ask, but I wanted to ask if there a platform that deals with video uploads, specifically gaming....
Since it seems to be a common question for many new users.
First post. Majorly a lurker on reddit, and now that I’ve switched to Lemmy, most likely will continue to stay a lurker....
