Is there an easy way to see if something is an instance or community on the fediverse, or ‘just’ a forum on the web? For instance, would it always be mentioned in a sidebar? I know there are lists of instances, but i am hoping for something easier. I might be overlooking something glaringly obvious, but i thought i would...
Recently I am considering more and more moving my primary pc to a Linux distro. Somewhat for privacy issues but also to have more control over my system and to reduce the amound of advertising that windows keeps cramming in my face. Specifically I’m looking at Zorin. I was wondering what thoughs people here had on it....
Hi everyone, I’m excited to announce one more release before I take a short break. I have some other stuff starting up, so I won’t be pushing out new features as fast, but I’ll still be around to manage the project. (more at the end)...

I have had numerous cases where a non-Steam game would run perfectly through Steam with Proton but the same game wouldn’t even launch through Lutris, even though I used the exact same Proton version. How are they different? Is there anything that Steam does in the background that Lutris won’t?...
I feel in the suburbs where you have cookie cutter houses that all have garburators it must add a little bit of load. How does it compare to municipally run composting?
Following the last thread about some update of the description (lemmy.ml/post/3724195), I just wanted to point out that there only moderator we have has been unheard since 8 days (last comment was here: lemmy.ml/comment/2503991)...
Please drop some links for the soldering irons y’all use, mine is apparently lost in my parent’s attic, and thinking of, probably too large for console modding....
I’m looking for an automatic way to search for an instance that blocks another instance. Instead of manually checking the blocked instances of multiple instances until I find the one that blocks the instance I don’t want to see, I’m wondering if there is a more efficient and automated method to identify such instances.
After my last post on here asking about convenient streaming options at higher resolutions, I got a few comments recommending Stremio with Torrentio and Real Debrid....
I’ve been thinking about putting some stuff that I can only find on direct download sites up as torrents, but most places I can access either have fake sign up/login links, or have very strict rules, like torrentgalaxy requiring at least 5 uploads per month for 3 months
Im too young to remember pre-crisis age (before 2008) so I dont know if its new “normal” on market. Its a scheme that takes advantage of rapidly changing prices of everything....
Wow, what a great adventure! If you haven’t heard of it, it’s about an English sea captain who gets marooned in Japan around 1600, and has to adapt to Japanese culture. Lots of politicking, romance, and decapitation. Very loosely based on real people too....
That may seem like an oxymoron, but I’m looking for some sort of server that I can self-host where I can edit blog posts and whatnot, but that then deploys to something like neocities (or any other pure static host)....
I’m doing a bunch of AI stuff that needs compiling to try various unrelated apps. I’m making a mess of config files and extras. I’ve been using distrobox and conda. How could I do this better? Chroot? Different user logins for extra home directories? Groups? Most of the packages need access to CUDA and localhost. I would...
