I’m of an age where everyone I know uses Facebook and have lost appetite for new social media… it’s effective enough to communicate and post events etc… if it’s not broke…
For context my social media journey started with geocities ( many here weren’t even a glint in their fathers eye then 😂)
I’ve done geocities > bebo > MySpace > Facebook + instagram + twitter + reddit … now I just do Facebook, instagram( mostly for cars and bikes)and lemmy.
The only thing keeping me on Facebook these days is marketplace. If that wasn’t the main thing people in my city use to post used items I would have deleted it ages ago.
You’re not wrong. The inertia people have towards this stuff is unbelievable sometimes. You will be fine without marketplace. You’ll survive if you don’t see fresh content on Reddit every second of your life. People act like FAANG is fucking Kuato growing out of their abdomen, inseparable but through pain of death.
I get your point but you have to convince ALL the people selling stuff in marketplace to post it anywhere else that isn’t meta. There is literally no other app or community online in my local area. It is not a “perceived majority” it IS the majority.
All the “middrif/glasses/office/has limbs-moe” communities. All the porn, furry, and celebrity stuff. Also Star Trek and Linux. Not because they were bad, but I felt like that was all I was ever seeing. Also the sports/team communities.
That’s not true at all, for Linux users or vegans. The problem is that there are people some that feel a sense of superiority because they use Linux or are vegan and they just won’t shut the fuck up about it.
It doesn't work, as what is being shared here is not the post itself but a link to it. You cannot "re-post" other people's content into threads in the Threadiverse - they'd have to submit it themselves by tagging the community.

Impeachment is not the same as being removed from office. It is the first step to the process however. Impeachment is the bringing of charges against an official in office. Once charges are brought, a trial must be held on the Senate with the Chief Supreme Court Justice presiding. If the trial ends in a conviction, the result is removal from office. However, the Chief Justice for nearly the past 20 years is a staunchly conservative man appointed by the 2nd bush administration in 2005.
Impeachment was never really a threat to Trump while in office. Just a way for Congress to tell the president that they know the bad shit he’s doing and they don’t like it. As long as the supreme court remains absolutely stacked with conservative appointees, there will never be a removal of office of a favored Republican president.
