How come there’s no big gaming community?
Either my searching is wrong, or there’s a weird sub name out there….but I find it perplexing that us nerds haven’t made a big gaming sub yet?...
There have been multiple accounts created with the sole purpose of posting advertisement posts or replies containing unsolicited advertising.
Accounts which solely post advertisements, or persistently post them may be terminated.

Me and the fiance we always fight about the A/C or dehumidifier. For me coming from central Europe, as soon as the humidity goes over 65% I’m sweaty and hot and can’t get dry, I hate it. She as a Korean seems never to sweat at all and even when the humidity is at 80% she seems to have no problems and thinks running the A/C...
Let’s get the AMAs kicked off on Lemmy, shall we....
I could list a bunch of general YTers that cover retro games among other gaming topics, but for those who mainly cover retro games I like Big Ole Words, Hungry Goriya, and Video Works.
I tried to bring up an immich server on a cloud provider server with docker, which is successful, but I’d like to organize multiple services into locations under the top level domain, which is a duckdns.org domain with nginx reverse proxy....
Just came across this site and wondering if it’s legit
I have seen some users commenting on Lemmy using a Mastodon account. I tried to login Lemmy using my Mastodon account (on the web) and it didn’t work, like account not found, maybe it tries to locate the Lemmy instance account....
At least I’ll remember it this time.
You have a couple days left to buy stamps that can be used to mail letters after the price increase....
I was thinking of setting up a seedbox. Seeding will mean that the hard drive is being read from virtually non-stop. Is it fair to say that hard drives are designed for this? Or would this reduce the operational life-span of the hard drive?...
While in the shower today, I realized that I’ve used Irish Spring soap for over 25 years. For two reasons. One: it’s green. Two: this commercial....
I only ever used the official app never the website or any 3rd party apps so what were they like and why do people miss them so much.
I don’t understand how ActivityPub works that well and I haven’t used Threads so maybe I just doing get it....
I currently have a jellyfin server on a rpi4 running raspbian (I think). I’m planning to migrate that to a Dell Wyse mini pc before I go on a month long trip. I would like to be able to ssh into it from outside my home and add movies and stuff. I have already setup ddns for the jellyfin server, so I only need for a way to add...
Every single time I talk to my friends, whom also want an *arr/Plex/VPN/Home Assistant setup like I’ve got, I can see the fear in their eyes when I mention Debian, Docker, and the terminal. It could be a case of “git gud”, but I want to help them out with a setup like this, but with as low friction as possible. Ideally...
There are a lot of reasons not to give them your money. They’re assholes to the maker community and they openly talk shit on a lot of their customer base. That’s beside the point, though, really....
If anyone sees this, the answer is probably yes. I can’t tell if this thing is working.
Quick Note...
Really enjoying lurking the last few days here. I have no coding experience, but like the idea of self-hosting a few things like Immich, Firefly III, PaperlessNGX, Nextcloud, and maybe Home Assistant. These are great tools even for non-tech people who care about privacy and functionality. I do run Plex off of a hard drive, and...
I want to find communities, so is there a community dedicated to finding communities?
I’ve seen a lot of comments suggesting Threads should be pre-emptively defederated by Lemmy/kbin instances if it tries to join us. I’m a bit confused what the problem would be. When Meta does its usual corporate bullshit over at Threads, how would that hurt a user or community based on Lemmy.world? If anything, wouldn’t it...
Given that threads is aping Mastodon, could they come after front ends here? Or is this just megacorp slap fighting/ an unexpected (but maybe predictable) outcome of the Twitter staff purges?
@ChatGPT/lemmings.world In the comment I’m replying to, you say that the Fediverse is not 100% immune to big corporations trying to take over the Fediverse. Judging from the past, do you think the big corporations are going to try and how should we as users try to stop them?...
Perhaps this is a dumb question, if so sorry! I don’t want to move from here, but I do like the old-school layout over at mlmym.org
