I do too, but I wonder what kind of mental problem that guy has to invest money in lawyer and court fees, plus tons of personal time, to get this going.

trolololol ,

I’m missing understanding some things here, but how much is the case about to handout in money? And shouldn’t the guy here split it between himself and lawyers?

trolololol ,

Ìt used to be when Dick Cheney said so, usually when he noticed some oil fields crying for freedom. Not sure who’s calling the shots nowadays.

trolololol ,

Yep it’s part of it to generate the sound track

One of the videos show the voice changing in mid sentence

Argentina asks to join NATO as President Milei seeks a more prominent role for his nation (apnews.com)

Argentina formally requested on Thursday to join NATO as a global partner, a status that would clear the way for greater political and security cooperation at a time when the right-wing government of President Javier Milei aims to boost ties with Western powers and attract investment....

trolololol ,

Just a reminder that NATO used to stand for North Atlantic yada yada. Should I expect Japan to relocate to Atlantic Ocean anytime?

trolololol ,

Next do mars. I’ve heard of some routes that take years.

trolololol ,

Only if it’s February

trolololol ,

Yep, relativity accounts for a difference of like 50ms drift per earth day. I would assume that it’s forward drifting if you’re on earth but backwards if you’re on the moon.

Take that, timezone whiners!

trolololol ,

Ok so now they must split it all into 10 timezones? 😂

trolololol ,

Yep, and the math gives different results based on if you’re on the moon or on earth.

Do you encrypt your data drives?

Fellow selfhoster, do you encrypt your drives where you put data to avoid privacy problems in case of theft? If yes, how? How much does that impact performances? I selfhost (amongst other services) NextCloud where I keep my pictures, medical staff, …in short, private stuff and I know that it’s pretty difficult that a thief...

trolololol ,

Oh it’s a scenic ocean view instead of desert followed by dirty roads. I wonder which one should I pick.

trolololol ,

Something something American exceptionalism

I’m out

trolololol ,

You just check mated yourself, mate

trolololol ,

What about North South whales?

trolololol ,

Oh so cute! Is that why we hesitate to give them any autonomy?

trolololol ,

Nope, they meant that Texas is supposed to be a country.

Like brexit on steroids, it would be cool to watch. buys a container full of popcorn

trolololol ,

You have highways?

trolololol ,

Yeah nah

trolololol ,

I’m here to troll not to problem solve. Wrong time wrong place. Also by your logic Russia would bring their states too. And China. Big party.

Btw what does NATO and UN do anyways? Write strong worded letters, right. It’s like a book club for diplomats.

trolololol ,

You have people who can drive things on roads?

trolololol ,

With all the productivity increases over last 100 years, the ruling class finally realised that they don’t need as big a society as before in order to serve their needs.

As a result, they tried hiring Thanos. When that failed, they had an idea: enlarge the prisons.

These are the stories of these poor souls

Dum dum (in SVU opening style)

trolololol ,

Give us the facts then and skip the journos opinions

trolololol ,

Yep, it should have said counter-counter-attack to Iran. Btw attack on Iran after attack on Lebanon after genocide in Gaza is ok, Biden approves.

trolololol ,

What duck heads

Should I call customer support every time I’m about to cook dinner?

trolololol ,

I wish you said it’s supposed to be cleaned before using. What good is it in knowing it was disinfected after it’s last use … 10 months ago?

trolololol ,

As someone allergic to dust and averse to cancer, I’ll mute this cursed thread and sign up to a normie cooking sub 😂

trolololol ,

Unlikely but bound to happen eventually? Sure

trolololol ,

I was confused before this, and it didn’t make it easier

trolololol ,

Hannah Arendt would like a word with you, and you’ll be crushed when it’s over

trolololol ,

Ah yeah, the only ones that like to show off

Ftfy

Yk how these communistic countries love to show off

Also you can do riscv and backdoors.

trolololol ,

So, since I live in Australia, it means no changes. Got it.

that ain't legal either (lemmy.ml)

transcriptScreenshot of github showing part of the commit message of this commit with this text: Remove the backdoor found in 5.6.0 and 5.6.1 (CVE-2024-3094). While the backdoor was inactive (and thus harmless) without inserting a small trigger code into the build system when the source package was created, it’s good to...

Another speculation from the suse team was a private company with intent to sell the exploit to state across actors

I think there’s lots of known backdoors that are not publicly disclosed and privately sold.

But given the history of cves in inclined to believe most come from well intentioned developers. When you read the blogs from the Google security team for example, it’s interesting to see how you need to chain a couple exploits at least, to get a proper attack going. Not in this case, it would make it very straightforward to accomplish very intrusive actions.

trolololol ,

Ah, death by snu snu. I can see you’re a fellow soul.

trolololol , (edited )

Would they be like a sticker on the turd with the message, or more like a 3d printed brown thing?

trolololol ,

Pfff just randomly replace tabs with 4 spaces and see the world burn

trolololol ,

Your editor is happy with either, but is it happy with both?

Dell is so frustrating

Dell has got to be one of the most frustrating companies that put out a linux laptop. They put out a laptop certified for ubuntu but then never support newer releases. A big part of their hardware is always proprietary drivers like webcam, fingerprint reader etc… Then you update to a new LTS release because lets be serious...

trolololol ,

I’ve been more fortunate than you apparently. I’ve got a xps15 5520 which is not officially supported, but thx to the return policy I felt safe to buy it and give it a try.

I’ve been using mint on it without any problems. Hibernation was what took me the most with to get working. Very happy user so far.

trolololol ,

Exactly

I hope it has same effect than mechanization for menial work. It raises the bar for what people expect other people to do.

Long term it helps reach a utopia, short term there will be a lot of people impacted by it.

trolololol ,

To the best of my knowledge ARM company is not involved in making GPUs, and ARM CPUs don’t influence performance of GPUs. Board and system architecture might though, such as unified memory, which could be part of the memory controller and physically Co exist with the CPU?

Best article about XZ backdoor?

Hey, I’ve been hearing a LOT about the xz backdoor. Crazy story, but rather than reading 10 different articles about it from 3 days ago when the story was quite new, does anybody know a high quality write-up that has all the juicy details and facts? I really like in-depth guides that cover every aspect of the story....

I wonder exactly why ssh was taking so long more. Perhaps the bits that scan ssh logs with a regex to extract IP address and username?

Whatever it is, that particular bit should be easy to deactivate since somehow a full fledged binary file with executable code was being bundled. I can imagine it only being active under a toggle that would make it harder to detect, such as a specific time of day.

trolololol ,

Best way to mitigate is have an inertial system. It’s a calculator that, based on where you are and where you’re heading, keeps track of your updated position.

The math is not that crazy, but with enough time the sensors errors crop up and you’ll be slightly off course, then a bit, then a lot.
