“If you look closely” dude, did you actually watch the video? www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hXi9_RTN4o

How about you watch the full thing, see the World Cup and Olympic champion snowboarder get injured on the track, and then maybe go actually step into some bindings and then come back and say there aren’t any tricks here. He literally does a fucking wall ride. You’re batshit insane.

it’s not even steep

You’re a moron. Now I’m absolutely positive you’ve never even touched a board much less ridden one.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

“Little track” dude. Just stop. You’re trying to make yourself sound cool and better than an Olympic snowboarder. You’re not, you’re actually making yourself sound incredibly stupid and ignorant, not cool.

I’m not impressed by it

That’s not what you said originally and you know it. You’re backtracking now and it’s easy to see.

Also cf is about the only way to make federation affordable and safe. If we didn’t use cf on programming.dev, the server charges per month would bankrupt me. I’m not getting nearly enough donations to cover the bandwidth costs for every single call, cf covers like 70% of the bandwidth for free just due to caching. And cf also allows you to block and report child porn, thus taking another burden off server administrators.

People that think you shouldn’t use cf just do not understand what it takes to run an instance.

I think they assumed it was “husband” at the time, and only ex husband after the AM leak.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

You’re literally saying the exact opposite of what is happening. The pope literally did bless same sex couples. And numerous other denominations do the same, like Methodism.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

I thought they had already split and there’s a bunch of non-conformers leaving and forming the racist, sexist, and every other -ist denomination “Global Methodist Church”?

And yet all of Israel’s disinformation is allowed to stay up…

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

lol my silence is not an answer. I don’t spend inordinate amounts of time on the internet so have no need to respond within a day much less a week. Here’s one example of the numerous misinformation that Israel has been spreading, coming from a news source that actually helped spread Israel’s disinformation.

washingtonpost.com/…/al-shifa-hospital-gaza-hamas…

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

You evidently had enough time to post elsewhere, so it’s not unreasonable to think you might’ve read my reply already.

Evidently? Huh?

How is the WP article showing misinformation? It basically boils down to “Israel alleged something and provided some evidence, but we think it’s not conclusive”. It does not show that Israel knowingly lied about anything, which is what you’re insinuating.

The article is literally about how Israel claimed a bunch of things as complete truths and then every single thing they claimed was wrong.

This has been the case for almost everything Israel has said until this point. They lied about hostages being raped, they lied about not going to bomb specific areas, they lied about certain areas being safe for Palestinians, they lied about only trying to kill hamas, and have killed over 20k civilians as a result, they lied about not actively trying to kill journalists. The list is endless. It’s perfectly clear that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians and if you support that, I’m sorry but you’re absolutely evil.

The hard part isn’t running ai on a device… it’s doing so while retaining battery life, performance, and privacy.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

All new Roku devices do that, even if it’s not a Roku tv. Roku went from one of the best video devices to the worst in one fell swoop. Literally the only good off the shelf device is the Apple TV.

You mention brave but no mention of kagi? Kagi is way better than DDG too.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Kagi. Way better than Google and DDG.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

I hadn’t even seen other paid providers but I got real sick of Google about six months back, tried kagi on trial and paid for it before the trial was up, that’s how good it is.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Kagi is orders of magnitude better than DDG. I hated DDG results.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Kagi.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Kagi. I thought it was a ripoff to pay for search but I tried the trial and started paying before the trial was even up, that’s how much better it is.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Fantastic. I left some other comments on here but I switched within days of doing the trial and I haven’t gone back at all. I think the total number of times I’ve used Google search since then is 3. Yes 3 total searches on Google in the past six months. None of those searches gave me what I wanted, but those were the times i couldn’t find what I needed with kagi. So 3 kagi failures in 6 months and Google wasn’t helpful either.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

That’s cuz DDG is terrible. Kagi is amazing in comparison to both.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

I always think all the arguments are ridiculous because it’s essentially saying that someone is pronouncing a product (not a word) that they created incorrectly. This product even has a catchphrase for it. There’s literally nothing you can say to contradict that. It’s a product with a catchphrase that describes how to pronounce it. If you pronounce it differently then you do you, but you are wrong.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Same for me. Was never able to get literally a single other person using it.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

No one I know uses WhatsApp either (thank fuck). No one wants to download another app that now they have to juggle between different sets of people. I’m a software dev and even I hate all this nonsense of ten different messaging apps. On any given day I might use slack, discord, Zulip, Google messages, imessage, and matrix. Two is too many, this is just ridiculous. Absolutely no one in America wants to be using this many apps to communicate. Which is why most people just use the default.

Unix time fails to work for the ‘simple’ case of timezones entirely. It’s not meant for timezone based data and therefore unixtime in one timezone subtracted from unix time in another timezone will most likely give completely incorrect results. Even in the same timezone it will give incorrect results, see the ‘simple’ case of a country jumping across the international date line. Typically they skip entire days, none of which unix time will account for, as that would require not just time zone data, but location data as well.

Also due to markdown being a very badly defined “spec”.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

CommonMark itself even claims that markdown doesn’t have a spec, so not sure you can claim it’s not badly defined. spec.commonmark.org/0.30/-is-a-spec-needed-

asciidoc is much better defined, has hardly any edge cases, supports vastly more features, and is a lot easier to use (the lack of a spec doesn’t ever get in the way)

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

CommonMark has been out for almost a decade and still isn’t used ubiquitously, while asciidoc is standard everywhere.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Most people mod because they love a community and don’t want it to die. If it weren’t for mods the forums you are currently using would devolve into spam and hate speech immediately. Sure some mods are bad, some are terrible, but the majority are good.

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Stop using the internet if you think all mods are bad. Moderators are on every site you use.

so you’re touching a google product…

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Order one from Canada? Not sure. And of the big tech companies that control phones, Apple is by far the best (at privacy at least, repairability is on the other end of the scale), I wouldn’t touch anything made by Google or Samsung with a ten foot pole. Maybe an old windows phone? Nokia?

On that note though, I have a friend who literally doesn’t own a smart phone. He has a flip phone (a new one too, no clue where he bought it) and he seems to get along in society just fine. Idk. Definitely not for everyone.

This may seem kind of stupid but I am kind of stupid, is there a list somewhere of phrases that are stupid or insensitive racially or gender biased?

I just got up from conversation with a couple of older black men, that I said “well I got to go back to work and start cracking the whip.” And it occurred to me then that it was probably a really insensitive stupid thing to say....

snowe ,
@snowe@programming.dev avatar

Your logic continues to make zero sense. What are you even talking about? You literally cannot even put together a coherent sentence. Good luck dude. Maybe you should take some time off the internet, come back, read how racist you sound in this thread, and then take some more time off, because you clearly are having issues.
