Ehhhh… Nvidia stumbled upon the fact that their specialized silicon does very well with AI tasks. And yes, their software stack is leagues ahead of anyone else. But they are completely riding the “AI” buzzword popularity wave, and their overinflated stock price is evidence of that. This is just my honest opinion, having no background in any of this, just a casual dabbler and tech enthusiast.

Current LLMs agi are no where near what a definition of “AI” is, yet all are being market as “AI”. It is just a buzzword. Like “synergy” and “cloud”. It has lost its meaning.

They are destroying lives just so they can win the game of capitalism and hold all the fake money, all the fake power. They want to be demigods, worshiped by the “lessers” at how wonderful and great they are because they are winning the game of capitalism.

Major problem with this analogy is if you don’t have a cat or dog you won’t starve to death. These people are trying to hoard resources that are life supporting. They are hoarders, and should be treated as such. The public as a whole needs to have this view and turn our backs on them, just not give them that power or influence over our lives.

Also citizens united needs to be repealed. Corporations are not people.

All I know is I have yet to get a consistent cup of coffee. Thought moving from ground to whole bean would help, then from drip to pour over. From manual grinder to electric. With all other variables the same, I still have not been able to make a consistent cup. Getting rid of fines has made the biggest impact on consistency, how I have poured, in my opinion, has made the least.

For now I’m slow loading my grinder. It’s tedious and takes 4 minutes, but I have very little fines as a result. Need to find a solution other than a sifter, don’t want to lose coffee.

Outgrew that rather quick and now I have two additional 16TB drives, in a Just A Bunch Of Disk configuration, mounted to different /mnt mount points. I know this is not ideal, but lacking the ability to expand...

Although you are right, apps, in my opinion, smooth over the rough edges of a website, and do so in a way that easy for the average plebeian to access. Sure, I could figure out how to make lemmy.world look and act how I want, I just don’t have the time, knowledge or patience to do so. So I use Memmy.

PoE Single Board/Micro/Mini Computer/Server

I have an 8gb Raspberry Pi 4 that has been a workhorse for years. I keep it for my not intense but essential networking purposes, NetBoot.xyz, Homepage, etc., because I can run it over PoE (edit: Power over Ethernet), so it is always on as long as my network is up....

Webpage loads are slow, especially images, netboot is a bit slow. I’m sure it’s i/o bottleneck and that everything is running in docker containers. I could probably optimize things a bit better, I just don’t have that kind of time for these projects, and getting an old dell micro would be faster than what I have. but they don’t run on PoE+ that I know of.
