What do you mean with out of the box, if you play steam games that is pretty much install and play, For Epic and GOG I use Heroic Game launcher with the same success.

ogeist ,

How’s the battery life? I have a Pixel watch and I like it but the battery life is kinda bothersome.

ogeist ,

found in cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and kale.

That explains a lot

ogeist ,

Wtf, this is the 3rd game studio shutting down this month.

ogeist ,

Greed.

Follow me for more obvious answers.

35, living in Europe, I had to re-learn manual. I had only automatics in Latin America. It is certainly more fun and I feel I’m actually driving.

My TV setup is:

-Chromecast with Google Tv

-Novaplayer (Netflix like catalog with info parser)

-synology NAS (To store the downloaded content)

How you get the programs in the NAS is up to you, doesn’t need to be a NAS

I’m moving to another provider next month to increase from 8GB@€30 to 15GB€25… Those are per month…

ogeist ,

Vielen Dank!, The problem is I need the Telekom Network otherwise I pay for nothing as the other ones won’t have reception :(

For the launcher you should try rofi, there is nothing running as a daemon. It runs fresh everytime but it is still quick and looks nice if you want to make it look nice.

Going to use Arch on a VM, which should I use?

I want to get into Arch Linux, but I don’t have that much experience and I feel like it’ll be easier to set it up in a virtual machine rathen than dual booting, I’ve used Oracle VirtualBox before but it’s very laggy. Are there any other VMs that aren’t as laggy, or do I just have a hardware issue?

ogeist ,

Have you heard of our lord and savior chroot?

ogeist ,

Install Flatseal, give all the hardware access to Firefox, print, success.

ogeist ,

Did you try older Firefox flatpack versions?

Fstoppers on YouTube: Printer Ink, It's a SCAM (www.youtube.com)

In this video, a Canon print cartridge is opened up and revealed not to contain the meagre 11.9 ml (0.4 fl oz) of ink it is advertised. The proposed solution is to buy a printer designed to be manually refilled with bottles of ink (such as the featured Epson EcoTank ET-2850), though it has only been tested briefly.

ogeist ,

Even then you’re supposedly paying for usable ink. I don’t think the ink will all drop down from the foam.

The TV streaming apps broke their promises, and now they’re jacking up prices (arstechnica.com)

For a moment, it seemed like the streaming apps were the things that could save us from the hegemony of cable TV—a system where you had to pay for a ton of stuff you didn’t want to watch so you could see the handful of things you were actually interested in....

ogeist ,

And if you need convenience, there are pirate streamers. You pay a monthly fee and get every program

ogeist ,

You are definitely not paying the creators even if you pay the official service, look at the protests literally going on right now. The middle man is actually stealing and we are just consuming what we like how we like it. If there were a perfect streaming service, everything on it, in all the languages I need and the resolution/audio I want then i will not be pirating. Going the “good way” is WAAAAY more inconvenient for me.

zsh or fish for an intermediate Linux user?

So I’ve been using Linux now for a while, and am looking to migrate my dev environment to vim and spend more time in the command line. I’m fairly comfortable with bash but by no means an expert. I’ve used zsh with some minor customization but just recently learned about fish. I’d love to hear people’s opinions.

ogeist ,

I’m also using fish shell, it find it very user friendly and extremely practical. It gathers all the programs options which you can see when pressing Tab and together with the fzf plugin for history and file search it becomes a very smart shell to use.

ogeist ,

I made myself this question and jumped to fish and never came back to bash. I now use mostly the terminal for most things together with ranger.

If you decide to jump to fish install fish + fisherman + fzf

Fisherman for installing themes and plugins and with it you install the fzf plugin. I also have the tide theme which is pretty nice.

PS. Bash scripts still run as bash so there is no conflict.

ogeist ,

My dude, what line in what file? Have you confirmed that they use the same audio chipset?

Please provide more relevant information.

Is it possible to make audio from both channels come out of the "front left" on pulse audio?

I hope it’s fine to ask this here, I’m using endeavor os with KDE and got some little speakers for my pc, they however only seem to play sound from the “front left” channel, is there a way to make pulse audio send all audio on it? Like, mono mode? I couldn’t find anything that does that…...

ogeist ,

First, change to pipewire, old man, pipewire is the new kid in the block and works great with Bluetooth headphones.

Then use streambay to do whatever you want with your audio.

    What I would do:

Talk with my partner to see what they think, as they might be also affected by my decision. I would re-think the budget for the PC as 3000 EUR is a considerable amount, I would try to compromise. But if I don’t change my mind then I will plan accordingly.

I would then save “extra” when possible, so I pay the computer to myself.

    ogeist ,

The problem is that the way NTFS works will not allow you to do symlinks and there are some permissions issues.

There are some workarounds but these might still cause issues.

    ogeist ,

Lutris is a python application, you can do git clone on the GitHub repo and you car run lutris from there. This will also use your config files as they are stored in your home directory.

    ogeist ,

On an additional note, install the locate package. It will create an index of ALL the files in your computer. Making searching for files a simple task.

    ogeist ,

Interesting project, I have had such situations as I mainly use ranger. I will see how I can integrate it into my workflow.

And then he never returned as for he was forever trapped in an infinite loop of rogue-like gaming…

Farewell stranger, may the RNG be good to you…

    ogeist ,

Maybe it’s just not your style, some play for the environment and the exploration and not necessarily the action. What do you think about the Soul-like games?
