Groundbreaking Discovery: Inhibiting Key Enzyme May Halt Parkinson’s Disease Progression (scitechdaily.com)

This study reveals that inhibiting a specific enzyme, USP30, in a mouse model can protect dopamine-producing neurons. This finding halts the disease’s progression and opens the door to new therapeutic possibilities for the 10 million people affected by Parkinson’s worldwide....

mechoman444 ,

And this is all we’re ever hear about it.

Remember a few months back when a study came out about a new material that was supposed to be a room temperature superconductor.

Pepperidge farms remembers.

mechoman444 ,

No we did not. Just because you kept up with it doesn’t mean it didn’t fall into obscurity regardless of its success or in this case failure.

All revolutionary claims like this have some effect in the circles that refer to it.

My comment is reflective of the failure of that substance.

mechoman444 ,

Or: man she looks way hotter with her lips ready to explode from the collagen injected into them to make him look more full!

Ladies please stop doing this it is not more attractive!

mechoman444 ,

Injecting cologne into ones lips inflating them to several times their natural size is objectively ugly.

There are aspects that I find attractive on people that general societal consensus determines to be ugly. I understand this and can admit that what I like is a fetish and goes against societal norms.

It’s ok to like human lips bursting at the seams, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t ugly.

mechoman444 ,

Listen here kid. Wait till you hit your 30s!

mechoman444 ,

I have a friend that just refuses to use anything but chrome, refuses to use any kind of adblock and will only use an iPhone.

I don’t get it. I’ve asked him to explain but he just keeps saying “it’s personal preference” which is such a massive copout.

mechoman444 ,

I mean… Ya. I fully agree. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a copout.

mechoman444 ,

Wow.

It really bothers me that you’ve somehow interpreted and asserted a relationship with my friend that you have no way of knowing.

But I will entertain your naive ignorance for a moment. This friend that I’m talking about, we’ve been friends for over 20 years he gives me as much crap as I give him and our relationship is better for it.

I have literally told him that he’s acting like an idiot for using these things that are actively monitoring everything that he does. His privacy is being systematically invaded and he doesn’t care.

The reason he doesn’t care is because he likes the stuff that he uses because it’s fast and he claims there’s little lag. Personally I think this is nothing more than an excuse for being lazy by not going through the steps of setting up his software so it won’t be invading his privacy (as much).

At no point did I pressure him to change or attempt to persuade him to get an Android or to use Linux or anything else he is perfectly free to use whatever he feels is comfortable.

Nevertheless it’s just a cop out he is acting stupid by using all of this stuff that infiltrates his privacy.

It’s okay to be accepting of people and to be their friend and to also call them on their bullshit. If their feelings are hurt and it strains the relationship then its probably not a good friendship.

Is there any christian religions that don't believe in space?

So I have a born again christian family member in their mid twenties who stated with complete confidence that there is a dome in the sky called the firmament and beyond it is where heaven is. She believes space doesn’t exist and rockets just blow up because the bible said so. She is not the brightest and normally I would let...

I think that doom is the best game ever made.

What the modding community has done with that game is beyond it’s original scope.

If you need proof for this look into myhouse.wad and the Sunder levels.

The same way anyone else does you go to the hospital. They are required to provide anyone with medical care especially in emergency situations.

Many hospitals in the us simply offer these kinds of medical things for free, if one qualifies.

The difference is at the end of the medical procedures one could get slapped with a medical bill… That one can discard outright. Medical dept is more often than not forgiven or forgotten by the hospital. It could be reported on your credit history but that is also often times overlooked or not calculated by the credit reporting agency.

America basically has universal healthcare. Of course there are very serious situations concerning long term care and unorthodox or experimental procedures that can be denied if they aren’t paid for.

And don’t get me wrong the health care system in America is a travesty and a human and civil rights issue that needs to be resolved!

I’m just saying you’re not gonna die if they can help it.

mechoman444 ,

So no. What you have said is a lie. I have no idea what motivation you have by making something this up but you did and you should be ashamed.

If a woman in labor enters a hospital in the United States they are legally required by law to deliver the baby regardless of how the person can pay.

Later after the woman and baby are discharged they can send them bills for the medical procedures whatever those maybe and yes they have the option of going after that debt in whatever way our legal system allows them to.

What I am saying is, specifically for medical debt they don’t often go after especially in emergency situations and end of life situations.

mechoman444 ,

Yes because there are specific facilities at least in the US that cater specifically to end of life situations this is a perfectly normal thing at least here.

Unfortunately I have also experienced this in my life with family members so I am acutely aware of how this works.

I’m not defending this practice nor am I saying it’s good I’m specifically addressing emergency medical care and how it will be billed for in the United States.

mechoman444 ,

Vedk is something my grandmother used to add into her pound cake when I was a kid. Really set itself apart from the rest!

mechoman444 ,

Let’s entertain a thought experiment here.

  1. The earth suddenly reverses rotation. Basically the entire surface of the earth is subjected to a massive reversal of force. The tidal waves would wash over most of the land we have everything would be wrenched asunder the crust of the earth would tear spilling magma into barren oceans.
  2. The earth slows down stops then starts spinning again. Gravity would become weaker and weaker one side of the earth would be perpetual night and the other side perpetual day the atmosphere would dissipate into space along with anything loose on the surface which includes all the water we have all life would perish. Slowly, as the earth starts to spin again gravity might pull some of its materials back down but hardly enough to make a difference. The earth would be a barren wasteland.
  3. The earth suddenly stops spinning. Everything on the surface of the earth including all its water and the atmosphere would be violently flung into outer space. All life would perish as our human corpses hurled at extreme speeds through our solar system.

😃

mechoman444 ,

So you’re absolutely right. Full disclosure I have been sick the last week and on prescribed narcotic medication and in my opioid muddled mind a massive body needed to rotate to produce gravity.

It sounded cool in my head.

mechoman444 ,

I live in Georgia USA I’ve been to FL way too many times Europe doesn’t deserve this.

mechoman444 ,

Meth production triples in Europe in just weeks of Florida’s arrival!

mechoman444 ,

Proton VPN stopped the stupid copy right infringement letters from my ISP. Make sure you look up servers that don’t report or respond to requests from companies that request such information from ISP’s.

I use Luxembourg. No issues for years.

mechoman444 ,

The issue with all this is the general architecture of the internet, web browsers and programming languages and such aren’t going to fundamental change just because Google needs to see more ad revenue.

The harder they try to stick with this method of profiteering the harder the push back will be. There will always be ad block as long as there are ads.

All they’re doing is showing their cards and setting themselves up for defeat!

mechoman444 ,

It’s actually not that hard. If the assigned tasks are being fulfilled within set parameters there’s really nothing to observe and keep track of. What they’re worried about and what they can’t monitor and observe is what the employees are doing outside of those tasks.

My friend works from home he does all his work and in the down time he’ll run errands, work out, and play pool at his local bar. Whatever. His work is fully completed and submitted and his performance views are top notch.

And that’s pretty much the only thing employers need to be worried about. How well the work is being completed.

Fuck the office.

mechoman444 ,

The thing is, I’m not against a little ad here and there from time to time. I understand that someone needs to pay for the things we use “for free”.

But what is going on now is just plain old exploitation. Nothing more nothing less.

mechoman444 ,

Around 2010 my friend lost his job. It didn’t matter really, both of us were well off at the time and could afford not to work for long periods of time.

We spent the better part of the year playing black ops over Xbox live and smoking weed out of a massive hookah we bought and called the Black Dahlia after a stripper I once fancied.

It was an easy going care free time in my life and a long cherished memory. In a way I’ve been chasing that kind of camaraderie ever since then. I doubt I’ll ever find it again.

mechoman444 ,

Thank God that steer was found. I don’t even want to think what would happen if they didn’t.

I am a time traveler.

mechoman444 ,

We did kinda create a new Internet… the tor is pretty amazing if not pretty fighting at the same time.

mechoman444 ,

The names of stuff. They’re weird to him. That’s the issue he’s having. Basically a complete lack of self awareness.

mechoman444 ,

Wow. Amazing. Like what kind of an answer is “if you’re inside a car you can see the car”. This doesn’t answer a damned thing!

We don’t “know” what kind of galaxy we are in because we’ve never seen it from the outside. That would be impossible with our current technology.

Instead we have made very smart evidence-based assumptions as to how our galaxy looks.

What we know is that we are definitely in a galaxy because the general structure of the universe precludes such a conclusion. The extreme vast majority of matter is condensed in structures that are very uniform, we call them galaxies, therefore we must also be in one.

On a very clear night in certain parts of the world we are able to see in the sky a large elongated collection of stars which the ancients called the Milky Way because it resembles milk flowing down a smooth surface or something along those lines. What we currently believe is that that elongated formation of stars is an arm of one of the spirals that comprises our galaxy. We are also able to look at other structures using telescopes in our galaxy for example we have determined that we have a supermassive black hole in the center as many other spiral galaxies do as well.

So to answer your question we cannot see the Milky Way galaxy as a whole only certain parts of it and we’ve been able to draw conclusions by seeing other galaxies.

All the other comments here making neurotic epitaphs and idiotic analogies about how seeing something from the inside is the same as seeing something from the outside is just dumb and pompous if you don’t know the answer don’t say anything.

mechoman444 ,

The original question is very vague and in general difficult to answer without asking additional questions to clarify so I answered the question in the spirit not in the letter.

America's nonreligious are a growing, diverse phenomenon. They really don't like organized religion (apnews.com)

Mike Dulak grew up Catholic in Southern California, but by his teen years, he began skipping Mass and driving straight to the shore to play guitar, watch the waves and enjoy the beauty of the morning. “And it felt more spiritual than any time I set foot in a church,” he recalled....

mechoman444 ,

Exactly I started playing pool at a local hall right by my house. Great way of meeting new people.

Getting out and doing stuff in public is a great way of communicating.

mechoman444 ,

That is absolutely correct. The atmosphere is held in place, so to speak, by gravity. It is also spinning along with the earth. Some of the atmosphere is lost to outer space at a regular rate and again replenished by natural processes that are beyond the scope of your question.

What’s more interesting is the atmosphere is pressurized at a decreasing gradient the closer it gets to outer space thereby relinquishing the idea that a container is necessary to house all of our atmosphere. (I watch a lot of flat earth videos for funzies.)

Uhhh, the earth isn’t flat, just in case.

mechoman444 ,

If this comment was on Reddit you’d be downvotes to hell.

mechoman444 ,

The sad part is conservatives will question why she couldn’t live off 42,000 a year!

mechoman444 ,

That’s because all the asshats that have been banned for saying shit like that on Reddit are here now and haven’t been banned yet.

It’s just a matter of time before the nazi mods and wokies take over.

mechoman444 ,

Why would anybody drive Chevy’s.

Don’t be an asshole.

mechoman444 ,

An always on microphone connected to a company that is mostly known to exploit their customers and employees! Say it ain’t so!

mechoman444 ,

Guardians of the galaxy 3 was absolutely amazing on every level!

Comic book movies can be good. What Martin Scorsese means to say is woke culture is ruing good story telling.

Just write good story’s and don’t be an asshole.
