Could I get an autopsy done on myself while I'm alive?

Completely random stoned hypothetical. Lets day im old as fuck and I decide I’m ready and done. Could I have the same postmortem autopsy done on me while I’m still alive? Like give me a ton of drugs and let me watch myself get dissected as my final moments. I understand there is a legal and possibly moral concern, but is it...

Generalization is a mental shortcut that simplifies things at the cost of accuracy. Ex: Dogs are canines. A Chihuahua is a canine. A wolf is a canine. But a Chihuahua is very different from a wolf.

I do wonder if a Communist country will just send me money…

atlasraven31 ,

Yet sending Nukes to a small island near Florida is okay…

Read a history book.

atlasraven31 ,

Stremio can do this. I think it defaults to play the intro.

They are too busy fixing broken dependencies.

atlasraven31 ,

Yeah, that’s how secret weapon deals are done.

atlasraven31 ,

I would appreciate if they would glance at the features page of 3 popular distros, even if they don’t understand what a brtfs or LTS is.

and Snap

atlasraven31 ,

I want to go pick a fight with openSuse forums because the installer failed 3 times in different ways. I changed it up to different releases, Leap, etc… Never had issues like that with any other distro.

Endeavor is nice but I worry something will break everytime it updates (every 3 hours).

atlasraven31 ,

It’s all good. Happy on Endeavor.

Would you teach your kids how to pirate?

My gf and I have had discussions about teaching morals to kids. In that vein, I asked myself, would I teach piracy to my kids? Yes, it’s technically illegal and carries inherent risks. But so does teenage sex carry the risks of teenage pregnancy, and so we have an obligation to children to teach them how to practice safe sex....

They’ll learn on their own when asked to pay hundreds of dollars for a single textbook.

Weird. I got a message that my account was temp locked for “unusual activity.”

atlasraven31 ,

I can confirm.

Magneto in the 90s. He even built an asteroid as a refuge for any mutant.

When the Sentinels start rounding up mutants, it is the biggest “I told you so” to Charles.

atlasraven31 ,

It’s a shame about Yuzu. Have you heard about this new emulator called Nuzu?

atlasraven31 ,

Or colleges, paper, math, the entire judicial system, and fireworks.

To be fair the russian army has lost experienced leaders in all areas and it will have long term negative effects. Morale has been particularly low, maybe it didn’t cause a collapse but it sure caused an increase in russian POWs, abandoned vehicles, and a lack of initiative. Supply problems have also slowed down artillery and operations.

If Trump and Biden both died today, what would happen?

Imagine the following scenario: On the 9th of January 2024 in the morning we wake up to news that President of the USA Joe Biden suffered a stroke and died in White House. The administration confirms that the death was entirely natural and no third party contributed to it. Even before the news reach all TV stations another one...

You would think Pyongyang but really chilling on a rocking chair in McMullen, Alabama. Population: 10.

I’ve set up Linux machines for a school that had ancient computers and $0 computer lab budget. Within 2 years, they purchased new Apple computers.

Liftoff stopped working for me two weeks ago. I had to download a new app to use Lemmy again. Still better than reddit.

How many of you run a Linux phone (Pine64, Librem etc) as your daily driver?

I was going through Pine64’s page again after I found the latest KDE announcement. With that said, I seem to see a lot of issues with firmware on the Pine, whilst the Librem is just plain out of budget for me. Was interested in how many people here run a Linux mobile as a daily driver, and how has your experience been?...

atlasraven31 ,

Nope. I would like to but as long as android does an okay job I will stick with that.

atlasraven31 ,

A 1way trip to another planet (with survival essentials and at least 20 other people).

atlasraven31 ,

Not necessarily Earth-like. A lunar or martian outpost would be enough. Enough water, food, and air for 50+ years.

atlasraven31 ,

It’s okay to simply watch a video and not comment on it

What do you think of Just Stop Oil?

My Views: I would love it if Solar, Hydro and Wind and other renewable sources of energy + Non Renewable Nuclear were to provide enough energy reliably to completely replace fossil fuels, but I know it’s not a feasible solution at least at this point. And maybe it will never be. Renewable sources of energy are highly dependent...

atlasraven31 ,

We’re starting to be able to mass produce thin sheets of solar panels as easily as newspaper. It’s time to replace coal plants and switch to renewables.

You can also put wind turbines out at sea and out of sight and add tidal generators below them. But wait there’s more! You can generate power at wave level too! So now this combination generator system can send lots of power back to shore.

atlasraven31 ,

The question is whether it can be utilizied. Some countries do use 100% renewable energy so the answer must be yes.

In my day, we called this standalone device an MP3 player.

Bexause if Hamas goes back to firing rockets at civilians we are back to square 1.

atlasraven31 ,

It’s a complex issue and there isn’t an easy fix. A two-state solution might be the best option but it requires a lot of flexibility and compromise. Otherwise, a DMZ like Korea with clear separation.
