Unless USA wants to do an England and lose a massive amount of bleeding edge tech IP, they would simply shut down any attempts of Nvidia to move outside the US’s jurisdiction.

Nvidia’s technology is tied to national security so it would never happen. Might as well ask why Lockheed Martin doesn’t sell to China.

Other people that replied already explained that the colours of the plushie resembles the one the trans community uses, so it ended being a representation/icon or something of the trans community. I believe the owner of the instance is transgender, so there’s the connection.

I’ve seen similar issues in appdata on windows when a program is poorly configured and simply grow its logs to ridiculous sizes. It’s an issue with a program utilising that folder, not the os.

There are so many old classics to be played, and too many mtx ridden, unoptimised Unreal Engine AAA games being published for new games to be enticing.

At my old organisation we always had mandatory “check ins” at the start of weekly meetings where everyone took turns saying whatever was on their heart and how their day was going.

Always a bit awkward at first with a new team, but a month in and people would really open up, and it was really helpful as manager to figure how people were holding up. Especially during covid/lockdown.

When you first start and can tell on their body language that they aren’t fully comfortable and don’t know what to share. You’ll get the usual boiler plate answer like “it’s all fine”, “looking forward to start working”, “it’s sunny today so I’m happy”, etc…

After a month or two people will be a lot more relaxed and comfortable sharing whatever is on their heart. You could end up hearing a minutes long ramble summarising someone’s week, or if they are tired whey would usually say so and explain why.

It really helped to get people familiar and comfortable with each other despite the meetings being there primarily for work. Having people getting comfortable being open and honest is a godsend for whoever is managing the team.

It’s one of the things that everyone would be positive about when we did one to one meetings with everyone in the org twice a year.

Absolutely not. Their latest version of the RED engine is far better at utilising the resources available than UE5. UE5 is still to some degree limited by its render thread and doesn’t scale as well with more CPU cores the same way CP2077 does.

Most UE5 also seems to launch with major performance issues, and many of the recently launched games will be borked for all eternity as shader compilation stutters aren’t something more powerful hardware will fix.

It’s a real shame that the executives at CDPR doesn’t want to continue investing in the RED engine.

I’m not overweight or anything but neither am I strong or flexible as I want to be. Mainly because I don’t want to have health troubles later in life. HOWEVER, to get started I...

The first question you should ask yourself is what you want to achieve, beyond just saying “to be fit”, and be honest with yourself. Do you want to be stronger, bigger, more flexible, better endurance, etc…?

If your main goal is to just stay overall fit and flexible as you age, yoga is a great inexpensive option that you can do at home without fear of other people judging you (if you got social anxiety). Get a yoga mat and try out a yoga session, you might get pleasantly surprised. Down Dog is a great app that generates sessions for you based on your time, experience level, etc…

By the sound of it though, you are currently looking at training in a gym doing weightlifting, since you’re mentioning stance and bracing. In that case the best advice would be to stay the hell away from fitness influencers while you’re getting accustomed to the gym.

The industry is rife with grifters that are making a living criticising all sort of things and telling you to DO THIS THING IF YOU FEEL THIS TOTALLY NORMAL THING DURING YOUR SET (looking at you Squat University) because they know many people who go to the gym are insecure since it’s a completely new environment and prefer to be told what to do.

Simple fact is that there is no one size fits all. People are built different which means your friend with a short torso and and long legs will need a different stance than your friend a long torso and short legs, etc… Unless you got a competent PT to help you, you’ll need to find out yourself what works for you.

Find a beginner program that fits your goals and schedule and stick to it, and don’t worry too much about doing the movement perfect. It’s takes time for your nervous system to get used to a new movement. Don’t expect your deadlifts and squats to move perfectly, it takes time and repetition. Experiment with stance width, grip width, etc… to find out what works best for your body.

And remember that your body is more resilient than you might believe. Don’t worry too much about your aches and pain, being sore is normal and not harmful, often your brain will play tricks with you and makes it worse the more you worry. Barbel medicine (which is run by actual medical doctors) is a good source if you got fitness influencer induced exercise anxiety.

Good luck on your journey and remember, the most difficult mile is the one from your house to the gym :)

What people do say is that Hamas’s actions does not excuse Israel’s military committing the atrocities that they are doing. How often do you interact with tankies…?

Outside of dealing with the odd report on our instance, I don’t. I’m not sure what people get out of seeking communities they dislike/don’t care for.

I’ve muted hexbear and blocked some political leaning “world news” communities, programming.dev also hides political communities unless you specifically subscribe to them so that doesn’t show up for our users in all either.

Granted, I don’t see every report made on our instance, but from all the reports I’ve seen since Hamas’ terror attack, the worst one was someone wanting Israelis to leave the land and for the colonisers that are actively taking more land to repay the people they took the homes from with forced labour. Other than that one, even simple things like “Free Palestine” has been reported as hate speech. So you really can’t tell what a single person mean when they talk about hate speech or “supporting Hamas” without them elaborating on where they draw the line.

Of course there are places where people will defend Hamas’ terror attacks. You can also find people who claims Ukraine is ruled by nazis, that 9/11 was justified, covid is a hoax, Holocaust never happened, etc… The question is if you see those opinions popping up on “normal” communities and supported by upvotes.

There are potentially 3 different groups of people that may ban you for a comment. If you break a community rule, a moderator may ban you as you would expect from reddit. However, since reports also notify the admins of the community instance and the admins of the instance of the reporter, you may end up banned by an admin if they believe you are breaking an instance rule.

The modlog is great for transparency, but lemmy should also make it clear what group has banned you and why. I haven’t been banned before so I’m not sure what that process looks like currently though.

I remember when Proton launched it was like magic playing games like Doom and Nier Automata straight from the Linux Steam client with excellent performance. I do not miss the days of having the Windows version of Steam installed separately.

Linux Mint is often touted as the most similar looking GUI to windows, so if you want Linux, but looking like windows that might be your best bet. You will find many guides for how to install Linux. If you want to just try it out first (and not just overwrite windows), you’ll need to free up some disk space and create an empty partition to install Linux on.
