Are the tracks incorrect as in the first track should be English but is the French track, or track one is labelled as English but is actually French?

If they’re labelled correctly, your media player should be able to select your chosen language from the options, whichever order they’re in. I think Plex does it.

If they’re incorrectly labelled, there are tools that can fix them, but it’s been years since I last used one. I think MakeMKV did it, but it was gui from what I remember.

RARBG like 4K rips, any group making similar sized movies?

Sorry if this was asnwered before, but couldn’t find it. I can’t seem to find any groups that usually release really small sized 4k rips like rarbg used to do. Movies went from ~5GB to ~20GB, and I really can’t tell that much difference in quality that justifies 4x the size....

If you create a Java server, there are mods that let Bedrock players join. One is called Geyser, and I think the other is called Floodgate, but I’d need to double check.

You can set up a free server online through Oracle too, and using the whitelist, you can make it private too. The article I used is here if you want to have a look

I’d be surprised if it isn’t, but I’m too scared to look…

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you mean when you say you have your Plex server as a register of changes?

I’ve got my PC as a read only source for my music, with everything else copying from that and syncing with each other. That lets me put new music onto my PC, organise it, and send the changes to my network. Is there a better way to do it, or something I’ve missed?

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

Ah, I get it, thanks :)

I tried doing it that way at first, but because my wife’s laptop is only used occasionally, I was getting the errors from that. At the moment the mesh is working for me.

Next week might be different though 🙈

Does using the -arrs use insane amounts of disk space?

The only way I can see switching my Luddite family off of the streaming sites is by making it easier. Up until now, I’ve torrented the old fashioned way, but now I’m moving into plex (ik, ik, jellyfin is better) and want to start using the -arrs. As I understand it, which I’m not sure I do, the -arrs will automatically...

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

As I understand it, which I’m not sure I do, the -arrs will automatically grab torrents. In my mind, this would eat up a TB pretty quickly.

You seem to be partly misunderstanding. They only grab what you tell them to, so they won’t automatically fill your disks with random videos.

What they do is grab any movies or TV series that you specify, and give you the option to upgrade them to a file size and quality limit that you set. For example, you could tell them that movies can be a maximum of 10GB per file, and TV can be a maximum of 3GB, and that you’d prefer 4k.

There are profile options that let you grab any available copy of a video, and upgrade it as better versions come along.

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

To be honest, I’m not sure if there’s a way to auto delete, I’ve only ever done it manually. I think Plex can be set up for it, but I’m not sure.

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

Have you turned on debug logs? I haven’t used Whisparr, but on the other *arrs, debug logging gives more information about how they searched, and if something was found but rejected.

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

Ah, that’s a shame. Good luck :)

Don’t trust hacked software to protect you from hacked software.

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t remember the steps, but there used to be a way to do it through Calibre. You could download your library into the Kindle desktop program, run a DRM removal tool, and have them available through Calibre.

You might have had to remove the DRM through Calibre, I’m not sure. Hopefully this gives you somewhere to start though :)

Is there a "no-bullshit" offline open-source cryptowallet?

I always been kinda interested and even fascinated by decentralized currency, thought that it was a cool idea, and then seen how it was absolutely mauled by scams, money laundering and predatory practices in general to the point when even thinking about it was gross. And I kinda forgot about it for a while....

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

Some services will take gift cards. You find out the amount you need to pay, and convert it to your currency, buy a gift card in cash for the amount, then send the code from the gift card to the service.

You have to trust that they won’t just run off with the funds, but the whole point is to pick a service that you trust in the first place.

Buying a handful of spare chargers is much cheaper than buying a new phone.

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve noticed that a lot of the reasons to upgrade now are artificial. My wife dug out an old PC to use two monitors recently, but still does the same tasks that she was doing a decade ago. The computer is ridiculously slow though because of ‘updates’.

Bog standard things like checking her emails and opening Word slow the computer for nothing. Even bare Windows runs slowly because of the graphics enhancements.

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

On a post talking about modifying the body, you say you want a magic ring? Do I dare open the link? :o

When the fuck did a mobile hotspot become something you have to pay extra for?

It’s my goddamn motherfucking mobile data and MY PHONE. I should be able to use it however I want. My wifi went down because the greedy, cunt-faced shitbags at Comcast stole taxpayer subsidies to enrich themselves instead of actually providing the service we’re paying for. I tried to switch to a mobile hotspot and my phone...

I don’t think it would ever fly in Europe.

It does, or at least did. I’m in the UK, and it used to be fairly common. Over the last few years, maybe the last decade, more and more providers used the lack of tethering restrictions as an advertised feature to show that they were better than the competition.

Now that we’ve left the EU though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the restrictions come back. We’ve already lost free EU roaming on a lot of tariffs.

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

It was nothing to do with the phone. I tried to find one for my father to use for his computer, as he only used the internet now and then, but the SIM only plans had data restrictions on tethering.

They started off as unlimited pay as you go with prices charged by the megabyte then gigabyte, then once high data plans came in, they started to get restricted.

As I said, it’s been changing, but as far as I know, there are still plans with tethering restrictions.

Complete nonsense.

Before Brexit, we were the 5th wealthiest nation in the world. Even now we’re still in the top ten. We can afford to feed and home our citizens and immigrants, but the government chooses not to.

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

The fact that it might stop some immigration is a small bonus to the tories. Their goal for a while now has been to strip our rights so they can grab more power and money.

The sad part is, all the brain dead little bigots will be cheering them on, and not even noticing that they’re losing out.

Overlord: Raising Hell.

I’ve been playing it on and off for years, but I’ve usually only been able to play for an hour or so at a time, then not play for months. I lost track of the storyline, and then forgot how to play properly.

I’ve been able to play for a few hours at a time for the last few days, and it’s been great :D

Tippon OP ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks for replying :)

This works because applications truly aren’t fully uninstalled from your device. They are just being uninstalled for the current user

This is what I mean by hiding them. It’s essentially just removing the shortcuts. Can’t they still be restored by an update this way?

Tippon OP ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t think every update would come with an updated version of every system app that would automatically get installed.

I think we’re on the same page, but looking at it from different angles.

I’ve uninstalled updates and disabled the apps, but a system update restores them. I would imagine that disabling them with ADB would end up with the same result. Removing them with root should, in theory at least, remove them completely.

If I get more than five minutes to myself this weekend, I’ll try the ADB method and see what happens 👍

m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_10t_lite_5g-10480.php

That’s how it was advertised at the time. It may officially be the Mi 10t Lite, and the 5G was added to show the capabilities, but I don’t know for sure.

Tippon OP ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

I’ll look into it, thanks :)

Tippon OP ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

Unfortunately it doesn’t clear anything up. It’s a m2007j17g, and some sites label it with the 5G, while some label it without. Xiaomi UK doesn’t have any results for the model number, and lists both versions. The specs are pretty vague for both, saying things like one supports lpddr4 vs lpddr5

Tippon OP ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, that would be my luck. I’m going to dig through the specs and try to find the difference, and go from there.

Tippon OP ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

That’s helpful, thanks :)

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not even good hardware.

I’ve got a Mi 10t Lite, and the camera is useless. It randomly blurs patches of photos when it takes them, especially if you dare to use the zoom

With all this talk about sync's pricing...

I think now is a great time to remind everyone, like sync’s developer, Lemmy’s developers need to be paid too! The amount of time all the devs put into making lemmy exist, in my opinion, should be worth some of your money. If you can afford it, donating to the people who develop lemmy and/or the people keeping your home...

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

I thought the fuss was because of the apparent tracking, not the fact that it’s a paid app?

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

Something by The Rumjacks. I generally listen to them on the phone or computer, so I’m not sure which songs are from which albums.

On a more personal note, One By One, by Chris Summerill. He’s a friend, but the track Away We Go is genuinely one of my favourite songs. Ideal for sitting in the sun with a beer 👍

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

The other one was very very underpowered so I threw CasaOS onto it

How did you get past the website? It’s bloody awful :o

Joking aside though, I hadn’t heard of CasaOS, so I just did a quick search. That website is awful on mobile. I swiped up, assuming that there was more than just the live demo link, but nothing happened for a while. Then, loads of content popped up at once and scrolled past >.<

I’ve sent it to myself to check out on the computer. Hopefully, if it does what it claims, it could resurrect an old laptop :)

Tippon ,
@Tippon@lemmy.world avatar

You shouldn’t be asked for an account if you click the magnet button either. You might want to double check that you are on the right site.

While the person you’re replying to seems to be trolling, there is a legitimate argument that the BBC is influenced by the current government. The argument is that the current government has had a hand in appointing the current BBC director, and he’s a member of the Conservative party or a donor.

I haven’t looked into it for a while, so am not up to speed on the details, but if the detractors are correct, it’s not a good look for the BBC.
