Aye that’s my thinking at least. It’s been going on for ages as well, and no matter what I do or say it’s just not getting through.

I’m trying to set him up to be able to cope on his own and if he can’t (or worse, won’t) engage and start pitching in with such a small ask then he’s gonna be fucked when he’s trying to stay afloat on his own.

He’s “served his time” with dishes. He started work as a kitchen porter a few months ago, so we agreed that ge should get a pass on doing the dishes at home. The next oldest two kids have that fun task now!

Due to the time he gets off etc we agreed the bins were the best candidate. Get home; empty bins; stick em out if needed. But apparently it’s too big of an ask.

Ok - but I don’t go to work for a sense of community? I go to work to earn money to survive. My tasks get done, profits are up overall so why do I need to feel engaged and how does being isolated have any negative effect on that?

I’m the opposite. I manage a BAU team and our team are active on slack, and seem to be thriving. We have two webex meetings a week, keep in constant touch and we all love it.

Online communities are more than good enough at the best of times so I don’t see how they can’t work in the professional space.

I recognise that! KFC in Tower Hill, London. One of the filthiest restaurants I’ve been in but holy fuck it’s still the best KFC I’ve had like 5 years later. Also - you Have to pay for the fucking toilet as well.

Morning folks.

Happy Friday. Not for me though! Work are doing this stupid fucking push towards ai (years late IBM, as usual) and have arranged this stupid Watsonx challenge we have to participate in. I’m leading a team that aren’t bothering their arse. Work has given us hardly any notice and it’s all set up as a “sneaky” way to get us to train it I suspect.

Kicked off last Friday and the deadline is Sunday yet I’m still fannying around with Jupyter notebooks trying to get it set up and accepting the data. Clueless. Doesn’t help that there is zero context for setting it up, just a huuuuge list of instructions.

Where is this gorgeous weather? Overcast as fuck up this end. Although I’d prefer that over being roasting all day to be fair.

I’m a just a crabit bastard today. Uninspired and mopey all week. I’ve even made the weans eat Iceland style dinners the last two nights - even made the little gits make their own. Delegation is honestly the best.

I’m really loving BG3 also. Larian have smashed it right oot the park.

Everything else has fallen by the wayside. Although, to be fair I did lose most of my interest in Dave the Diver as soon as I finished the main mission.

My youngest fucking LOVES that game. That and Boneworks. My rift 2 cable is jank though where it connects to the headset so it’s fucked.

I miss Beat Sabre so much as well - haven’t loved a game like that since guitar hero 2!

Spent £350 quid on a wheel a couple of years ago because I really liked the idea. Turns out I’m shit at driving games though so it gathered dust the whole time.

Last straw was when my youngest was absolutely smashing forza 5 and putting me to shame.

FM is one of those games I really wish I could play. Seems like the ultimate RPG. I’m just gash at all things football related and don’t have a fucking clue, so inevitably lose interest after getting pumped again and again.

One of my mine and my daughters favourite apps is this thing called Seek. It lets you scan big or wee beasties and plants and then identifies them for you. Gives you info about whatever it is etc. it’s a great wee app and turns you into a mental collector, standing in front of folk’s house like a weird as you surreptitiously try and scan their fancy pants plants.

Was out at the bookshop earlier and then the butchers to collect my ham hock for stock to make my ramen tonight. Just fired it on and I’m about to sit down and fire up Baldurs Gate 3 for the first time.

I’m even considering opening a can of cider for some good old day drinking and then shout at the weans for annoying by expecting me to do stuff like care for their basic needs. The sheer gall of the wee grotbags!

Finally got my wife to start strange new worlds with me last night. She’s the bloody Trekkie yet I had to wait until almost the end of s2 for her to start. Nightmare! We’re 2 episodes in and I’m loving it so far. I can’t wait for lower decks crossover as I thought that was great.

Huge Pratchett fan also, so quite disappointed as I’ve been saving that for this weekend. Still give it a go as I’m much in the same boat as you with regards to Tennant and Sheen.

Need to give Tehran a go. I finished Hijack yesterday and it was brilliant. Not sure I’m bothered about the Witcher after the last series I watched was kinda shit.
