The differences do tend to stop juuust at the part where monetary interests of their funders begin.

Aside from that, very different parties.

Ah the ad hominem attack, the bread and butter of people who have a half-formed argument. The signal of a weak argument dressed in forceful garb.

When the point of a fun website is finally and forever lost. Welcome to the bots and ads show!

Does your user name mean that you’re a lover of misspelling ready?

OrteilGenou ,

More like stupris, amirite

An interesting idea. Was there no oppression before the West’s influence was felt? Do you consider Russia to be part of the West?

OrteilGenou ,

I’ve found the same thing, critic scores are harder to use as predictors because there is too much variance between their individual special opinions about the importance of character development vs the average user enjoying a movie for what it is. Obviously crap is crap, but a 56% critic and 82% user score is usually more appealing than vice versa

No worries, someone will make a Netflix docuseries that will be hyper popular for a week

What's a word you've spent a long time not using right?

Just recently I was in a conversation with a number of UK mainlanders and we had a debate over what “tories” meant, apparently disproportionately ordinarily it refers to a political party and it’s not usual to use it as short for “territories” as I’ve used it (according to how the debate ended, it was half and half...

Trump claims he’s never read Mein Kampf as he repeats anti-immigrant rhetoric (www.independent.co.uk)

Donald Trump has now denied ever having read Adolf Hitler’s 1925 memoir-manifesto Mein Kampf as he faces a firestorm over his recent run of anti-immigrant comments, which have been likened to the Nazi leader’s infamous “blood and soil” rhetoric....

OrteilGenou ,

Why would he? He probably gets his sick reference game from Miller and the rest of the gang

OrteilGenou ,

Good question

Tesla drivers had 23.54 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Ram (22.76) and Subaru (20.90) were the only other brands with more than 20 accidents per 1,000 drivers for every brand.

That venn diagram looks like the mid point of an eclipse

Are there any systems that work within an environment of standard and widespread corruption though?

No offense to the fat patrol but the Ukrainian military is having trouble with the Russian military, and they both have heavy ordnance.

A grenade launcher and a couple of miniguns vs national guard would be more like another Waco than a civil war.

OrteilGenou ,

Well, as long as there are no cowboys riding warheads…

OrteilGenou ,

Lol, yeah who could face the possibility that Americans might have firearms

Someone in my department suggested that project plans should be moved from Excel to MS Project.

It was 50-50 relief vs panic

OrteilGenou ,

That, and the internal combustion engine will never replace horses.

Your comment is great! I’ve never seen such a calamity of fallacies. Well done. My only point was that doubting the ability of people to solve problems with technological bottlenecks has not gone well by pointing out a famous example of that, but you invented a whole world of misinterpretation that doesn’t seem to apply to my point at all.

OrteilGenou ,

Yeah that’s right, the issue isn’t you making broad assumptions about a one-line comment and going off on some rant about Elon Musk and other imaginary arguments you read into my - again - one-line comment that made a simple and specific point. No no, the issue is that people on the internet don’t understand how fallacies work. I have to ask, for you to have reached that opinion, how many times have people called your arguments fallacious, and as a follow up, are you sure you aren’t the one that can’t properly identify fallacies, rather than… everyone else?

Calls to reform UN Security Council after US vetoes Gaza ceasefire (www.aljazeera.com)

Calls are growing for the UN Security Council to be reformed after the US became the only member to use its veto power to block a Gaza ceasefire resolution, a move welcomed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The UN chief says he will keep pushing for peace.

How are they supposed to cater to the MIC if some random bunch of countries can cut off their markets like that?

OrteilGenou ,

Giza happens to be genocide via holocaust. The definition of genocide doesn’t require it be committed via holocaust.

The Pharoah must step in!

I’m here to annoy humorless cunts

Ultrasound can push vaccines into the body without needles (www.newscientist.com)

Vaccines can be delivered through the skin using ultrasound. This method doesn’t damage the skin and eliminates the need for painful needles. To create a needle-free vaccine, Darcy Dunn-Lawless at the University of Oxford and his colleagues mixed vaccine molecules with tiny, cup-shaped proteins. They then applied liquid...
