I’m wondering what kind of peace they think they’re asking for. Israel has a buffet of oppressive laws that deny Palestinians access to water, land, and infrastructure, and allow the IDF to raze villages at their discretion and detain people indefinitely without evidence, all under the pretext of fighting terrorism and protecting national security. Meanwhile Israel has been the occupying force in this region for decades. Remember they are, by definition, not on the defensive. These laws actually do discriminate against Palestinians, and make life very hard for them.

I wonder if this is the kind of peace where Israel thinks “why won’t they simply accept our oppressive laws and let us displace them and take their land? Why are people fighting back all the time? We just want peace!”

I cannot stress enough that settlers and housing developments come at the same time as the military, and they work together. Like it’s not even a terrorism thing. They are just chasing Palestinians around with housing developments to justify forcing them out. As far as I can see the only way Israel’s operation could be peaceful is if the Palestinians literally just accepted their widespread displacement, dispossession and sometimes even mass murder, but we know that’s not how peace works :)

The main argument is that we are in a system of people who are way more powerful than us, and have largely taken away our options until we agree. We’re facing widespread protests and international strikes right now because we don’t like the options they’ve given us, and we’re trying to change the system.

Just because somebody takes away your options until you agree, doesn’t mean they aren’t forcing you. Just because you happen to be satisfied with what you have, doesn’t mean that something better is not being denied from you, even though it is possible for you to have it.

The Colonel both admits that his troops murder children for no reason, and implies it’s necessary to prevent the Holocaust from happening again. In court, he claimed the whole of southern Gaza was a combat zone and anyone who entered parts of it had made themselves a target.

You’re going to have to take my word for it because I’m lazy and in bed, but Israel goes to serious effort to make no distinction between civilian, terrorist, protester or child.

They have rules of engagement so broad that basically nobody is safe. When soldiers gunned down children, they are either not charged or cleared by falsified evidence. Some of which admits that they killing was unjustified and offers alternative explanations to be given to the press.

I think I might have achieved security through obscurity. My custom keyboard is a unique shape and almost all the keys are one unit. I haven’t a lot useful to say among the comments that are already here but I will say most broadly:

Democracy in the work place. Corporations and industries are too big and affect too many people to be governed by individuals that are just there to own it, and make a profit for themselves. Things need to be run for the common good by actually representing all stakeholders fairly.

Photography is right up there with statistics in its potential for “true” information to be used to draw misleading or false conclusions. I predict that a picture with this technology may carry along with it the authority to impose a reality that’s actually not true by pointing to this built-in encryption to say “see? the picture is real” when the deception was actually carried out by the framing or timing of the picture, as has been done often throughout history.
