by that i mean, those are intangible, effervescent parts of a human being that should not be quantized down to a fucking amazon star system. the ‘anything less than 5 stars is actually bad’ thing is disgusting as well - all modern companies do this.

Its a carrot that’s dangled on a stick tied to your back, you can never reach the carrot on your own, the metric is completely out of your control.

I only ever got scored badly during outages or when people were upset about something that the service didn’t do, so my overall rating was good, but even with 10 5 star ratings, it just takes 1 4 star to ruin that.

The customer correspondence rating (CCR) for our department was 4.64. That basically means that anything that isn’t a 5 is bad.

If you got a 3 and below, a team lead and a “quality” engineer would have meetings with you to correct what you did wrong.

Whenever I have to rate things now, if the person wasn’t a complete dickhead, I rate 5.

The part of this that sucks is that one day this shit just stops. Went from skinny stick figure constantly being told to eat more and put on weight while eating SO much, then I hit 35 and all of a sudden I’m 15kg overweight and sporting a nice double chin.

When you slowly boil the frog in water, does it care that it’s being boiled? Yes. Does it notice? Not initially no, it becomes apparent later on when it impacts it’s life.

I was stuck inside for almost 2 years alone, I didn’t have friends and I felt shit about myself altogether. I didn’t look in the mirror and I didn’t notice.

Until a friend sent me a photo of me at the park and I realised how bad it was and that I felt disgusting.

Did I care? Yeah, but I didn’t notice the gradual change. I can identify the behavior and I can say the average time span, but I have no idea when it actually started or when it started to plateau.

I don’t have a scale, I don’t weigh myself, I actively avoid mirrors to stop me from hating myself even more…

I also think you’re taking the saying too literally.

Docker and the docker-compose yaml files. They’ll be invaluable. Compose files allows you to create custom networking and run multiple containers.

Super useful and what most people use to run simple docker workloads.

You don’t have to understand how to create containers, just understand how they work and the commands to use them effectively.

We use zoom for work and I enable my video feed as a full panel like every other participant, only time it feels weird or gets annoying is when there’s only 1 other person on the call and our feeds sit side by side.
