I’ve heard other people complain about this behaviour. The problem is that your husband is extorting a reaction from you. You are obliged to generate the reaction, out of politeness and respect for his feelings. There is a cost attached to this performance that you are bearing but not really much of a reward. I’ve never understood homework. I didn’t have any resonance with school work either. The whole endeavour seemed pointless until I needed to calculate the volume of loudspeaker cabinet or determine the voltage in a circuit. Only then the activity had any meaning and hence I was motivated to learn trigonometry or electromagnetic field theory. It wasn’t even work because I love to learn. I failed almost every exam I ever attempted and yet meanwhile, back in reality, I was perfectly able to function and thrive in the technical world that we inhabit. Homework can eat my refuse.

Agree. Looking back, my school was horrible. The worst aspect of it all was that, by some bizarre turn of events, I eventually became a teacher myself and made many of the same mistakes. Well you better start understanding it, we can’t let go. If Reddit were shattered into a million pieces tomorrow, we would still sing the bitter lamentations about the time they took away our most sacred API.

We need a 4th emergency service for people in crisis to just evac them from bad situations, almost like the witness protection.

I wouldn’t be so hasty. The middle east, including Turkey, are some of the most culturally rich places to visit. In general, the Arab people are extremely hospitable. There has been civilization in the area for thousands of years and many fascinating antiquities remain. Turkey in particular has a longstanding secular tradition that was started a hundred years ago by Kemal Ataturk, only recently eroded by the religious conservatives. I backpacked around the world twenty years ago. No house, girlfriend or other commitments. Found a well paid job and saved everything I could. Picked places that were interesting but also where the currency exchange was favourable i.e. not Europe. Stayed in hostels and the occasional guest house, never hotels. Travelled overland rather than flying. Cooked my own food. I didn’t want to work while I travelled but met many that did.

ETA; Why you should know; everyone has natural talents, everyone has skills they developed with practice or over time. Something that feels easy to you might be difficult for someone else to grasp, or they might have a different background or a different way of doing things. When you show someone else how to do something, or when you ask someone else to do something, you need to set aside your expectations on how they might do that thing, or how quickly, or how well.

Be patient. Understand not everyone comes naturally to every new skill or new talent. Some people have learning disabilities or just a lack of familiarity with skills you consider "basic." And try not to belittle someone for needing extra time to master something you find "simple" or they may never try again!

Edit2: Kind of like how I can't figure out how to edit this to save my life. I've been belittled in the past for being bad at things so my instinct was to delete this, but seeing all the conversation, I couldn't bring myself to do it! Consider me a lesson in action!
