BearJCC OP ,

Thanks for the tip! Looking into it now that you recommended it. It looks like it is auto renaming files based on their existing names and not based on “fingerprint.” How would this differ from FileBot? If I had a folder that I ripped to (local harddrive) would it watch it, rename and move it to the media server automatically (given I named the episodes appropriately)?

I have already paid for Plex lifetime and Jellyfin doesn’t run on TNAS (or at least my TNAS).

Only a year ago I was doing tech support for DARPA. Yeah, no. they’re still running Windows 7. A year prior to that I was doing some design work for the Pentagon and a lot of their computers are still Windows XP. You’d be woefully surprised how much is still running on COBAL

Student loan payment restart has been marred by errors, from late notices to incorrect bills (abcnews.go.com)

The first month of repayments since the end of a three-year pandemic pause on federal student loans has been filled with mishaps, including incorrect billing amounts and late notices for bills coming due, according to government officials....

I paid mine off. Auto-pay is still withdrawing and I’m getting late notices in the mail. Incompetent greedy fucks.

BearJCC ,

Still do. Have bookshelves full of them.

USPS has lost a dozen or so of my checks and packages but I have never had any of the hundreds of packages delivered stolen.

Except for people without cars and the walk to restaurants is dangerous. Except for invalids. Except for people who work at companies with rules about not leaving your post. Except for people quaranteening. Except for…except for…except for…

Old habits die hard. Learned JS, CSS and C++ all the same year about a decade ago.

Opportunity cost, possibly. They might be remastering it and wish to sell it at a higher cost, or think they can get more money through a different retailer.

BearJCC ,

That’s my experience of the entire US southeast

Thats $8/hr even. Pretty standard for retail jobs where I live.

BearJCC ,

The city where I live has a higher col then the surrounding rural areas. Our living wage is $15.34 and poverty wage is $6.35 I don’t have a report for the surrounding areas but my gut says somewhere around $10/$5.

In the US you have to get paid 1.5x for hours over 40. $30/2.5/1.5 = $8. And thats assuming no paycheck deductions such as tax, healthcare, alimony, etc

Steam On Linux Usage Spikes To Nearly 2% In July, Larger Marketshare Than Apple macOS (www.phoronix.com)

According to these new numbers from Valve, the Linux customer base is up to 1.96%, or a 0.52% jump over June! That’s a huge jump with normally just moving 0.1% or so in either direction most months… It’s also near an all-time high on a percentage basis going back to the early days of Steam on Linux when it had around a 2%...

I have yet to have any issues with the 50ish games I have played on Proton.

I have not found a way to bypass Larian Studios launcher in launch options but you can make a shortcut to the exe directly.

BearJCC ,

There are games and software that check a server to see if you are entitled to use it when you run it. If that server goes down or they geo block you, or ban you then you may not use the game or software you purchased (unless you crack/pirate it).

I’m under 30 and learned cursive growing up. Only use it for writing letters to my mom though.

The kids of my cousins are all under 20 and about half learned cursive in school.

(I have 31 cousins by blood and collectively they have 36 kids, all in the US)

Do you use the swipe to type feature on your phone?

Is this how most people type on mobile these days, drawing lines all over a keyboard instead of tapping the individual keys? I've never had an iPhone so I don't even know if they can do this natively, but I know you can switch keyboards at least, so it should still be an option if not.

BearJCC ,

You have done such a wonderful job with this photo.
