MSI click bios has been downgraded after RMA?

Hey y’all, i recently had to rma my gs76 stealth after a hardware thing but when i got it back, my VR wouldnt work, i traced that to probably being a bios setting that got reset when the battery was removed, however, when i went into the MSI clickbios, it looked way different and i don’t even have the setting im looking for...

yokonzo OP ,

Well I see there’s a way to get to the “advanced” settings by pressing Ctrl+left alt+shift+f2 but its been doing nothing for me, even when going back into windows and unlocking the function keys.

And I have flashed straight from the bios offered on the computers specifications page and confirmed that it matched, I’m really not sure what’s going on here, or why their bios on the downloads page is an older version than what was shipped with the laptop. I know sure as hell the original owner, my dad, wasn’t the one to upgrade.

yokonzo OP ,

Sorry this is just a screenshot from the web, but the advanced menu is just 20 or so toggles for the PC, its definitely missing a few options in there though, I forget what the setting is called ATM but I’m trying to force a display port to run through the GPU instead of the integrated graphics, I’ve done it before successfully

yokonzo OP ,

nah looks like im up to date on windows and most of my drivers

yokonzo OP ,

E17M1IMS.119, as far as i can tell thats click bios 1, i can’t seem to find much documentation on it, and that build was last released in 2023

yokonzo OP , (edited )

I doubt it, this repair was just a keyboard assembly, I’ve done the repair myself, there’s no reason to replace the mobo, also the bios that’s listed in the downloads section is this old one. Which wouldn’t even be a problem if I still had the option to do certain things

yokonzo ,

I’ve done plenty of cat stuff with staples, especially the sisal rope, as long as you angle it in the direction they would be scratching it’s usually fine, you do need a really heavy duty staple gun tho

yokonzo ,

They also can expand their bodies to lock themselves in place, in case a predator with a long beak wants to try and yank them out

yokonzo ,

They just didn’t think of it I guess

yokonzo ,

Uh … Yeah you got us… All a trick, darn guess our dastardly plan failed and you won’t invade Taiwan now

yokonzo ,

There’s one in the ocean

Well, there’s one terror attack that happened on the island of utøya, apparently 69 people were killed https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/c3f481f8-571a-4a6d-8641-1944d6666778.png

yokonzo ,

On Friday 22 July 2011, Norway was hit by two terrorist attacks. The bomb attack on the government quarter and the mass murder on Utøya are the worst acts of terrorism in Norway since the Second World War. The attack was politically motivated.

The perpetrator wanted to hit the state, the Labor Party and the party’s youth in AUF.

At the AUF camp on Utøya in the Tyrifjord, 69 people were killed. 32 of those killed on the island were under the age of 18. The two youngest were only 14 years old. It took just over an hour from the time the police received information about the shots on the island until the perpetrator was arrested.

There were a total of 564 people on Utøya when the terrorist attacked. 495 survived by hiding in buildings, under dead friends, on mountain slopes or by swimming ashore.

The perpetrator, Anders Behring Breivik, is serving a sentence of 21 years in prison. In court, Breivik admitted to having committed the murders, but he pleaded not guilty.

yokonzo ,

Uhhhh, what exactly is nice about that?

yokonzo OP ,
  • China’s State Security Ministry reported that two military personnel were tasked with shredding 200 secret military documents, but instead sold them to a recycling plant for less than $4 total.-
  • A retiree named “Grandpa Zhang” then purchased 4 volumes of these confidential documents from the recycling plant for only 85 cents.- Realizing the documents were marked “confidential” and “secret”, Zhang reported them to authorities. The State Security Ministry then seized the documents.-
  • The ministry criticized the military personnel involved for their “weak sense of confidentiality” and “greed for convenience’s sake”, but said the incident did not result in a significant intelligence leak.-
  • The ministry used this incident as part of a push to encourage the public to report national security lapses through a hotline

I don’t usually care about news from China, but I did find a bit of humor in this

yokonzo OP ,

I just love the line, “grandpa zhang, who collects military and historical newspapers as a hobby spotted the documents at a stall”

Such a grandpa thing to do

yokonzo OP ,

I see, so this would be something that would be dependant on the rom developers or an interested third party to do the actual work of porting to x86.

So essentially it would be a “if you build it, they will hopefully also build it” situation

yokonzo OP ,

Lmao Id like to see you try keeping your fingers clean when removing e-tape off cable and painting truss all day

yokonzo OP ,

I’ve never seen them before, honestly I wasn’t even aware these were a thing

yokonzo OP ,

Holding them down maybe?

yokonzo OP ,

I see some of them on Amazon and it looks like they’re okay with TSA too, question though. If ( and I’m assuming this is an anxiety, not medical issue) your girlfriend is unconscious, would she possibly prefer to just remain unconscious rather than feel anxious about the flight? Or does she not like the fainting part either, i wouldn’t know as I’ve never fainted so maybe it’s unpleasant

yokonzo OP ,

I have a whole tray of it I just keep sitting on the floor… Okay it’s just a litterbox but still, it’ll grow hair on your chin!

yokonzo OP ,

Idk, maybe, I just thought it was dumb and funny

yokonzo ,

Uhh, ever heard of this natural selection thing?

yokonzo ,

No no musk, you’re supposed to only piss off the poors remember?

yokonzo OP ,

I mean as far as I understand it for me, being heavily ADHD, it’s a sensory thing, i feel overloaded and overwhelmed when that light is on me, like it blasting me with it’s energy. I also cannot be touched when I feel greasy (after eating greasy foods for example)

It’s just too much for me to handle

yokonzo OP ,

Wait they can’t? Although now that I think about it, there’s certain cheap LED lights that I can see the flicker and my girlfriend cant

yokonzo OP ,

Im pretty sure by mood lighting they aren’t referring to lights built into the actual floor. I think they just mean less intense lighting like lamps, string lights or LED color lighting.

I don’t even think I’ve ever seen a house with floor lighting indoors

yokonzo OP ,

I mean I’ve had her stare at it with me for a couple of minutes and she was adamant she couldn’t see what I saw, i had to take out my phone camera and show her the frame rate flickering

yokonzo OP ,

I mean I’ve been hearing it since like 2018, it’s just an easier way to say you have some disorder or another without really getting specific.

Also humans just love classifying themselves so that probably has a bit to do with it

yokonzo OP ,

I mean I guess I could see that, I’m sure everyone has their own preferences about lighting.

Though I will say most of the floor lamps in my house do rise above a person who’s standing up, otherwise they have a light pointing down.

yokonzo OP ,

Nah you good i didn’t think so, I’m just sharing my personal thoughts on the matter

yokonzo ,

How do you say this? Meatal gear solid delta?

yokonzo ,

I’m very very tentatively holding my expectations, can’t trust anyone these days

yokonzo ,

Sure, but are you really going to go find the building admin and argue with them to update all of their OS’ to something they probably don’t understand? Linux is primarily a power user platform, not a mainstream one.

yokonzo ,

“why would we do that? Our systems don’t work on that, our people aren’t trained on that, no, get back to work”

I think that would be a pretty accurate reply to a casual request for an entire infrastructure change

yokonzo ,

Depends on how it’s set up i guess, but if it’s your own PC that’s kind of on you id imagine

yokonzo ,

Complain all you want, not a single manager out there is going to shut down any part of the active systems in place and potentially lose business to upgrade to Linux. At that point, just bring your own laptop instead of moaning about it.

And I used to think the “just switch to linux” guys were a meme, bro you’re making me want to switch back to windows out of spite

yokonzo ,

It’s like talking to a little kid

yokonzo OP ,

Why did you use AI to write this? And why are you posting on a 10month old post?
