EDIT: The audio issue on Wayland seems to have magically resolved itself after several reboots, so while I never figured out why the option for VRR disappeared in the Xorg session, I’ve resorted to using Wayland and everything seems to be as it should....
I get pretty easy depressed watching TV shows with a depressing tone or a lot of character deaths or that. If its more in the background its generally fine, but things like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and The Boys are a lot for the moment. How does the new Fallout show compare?...
For example, I personally can’t listen to Guns and Roses without immediately thinking “that Axl sure is an asshole”, and that sours the entire experience.
I have a 4TB HDD that I use to store music, films, images, and text files. I have a 250GB SDD that I use to install my OS and video games. So far I didn’t have any problem with this setup, obviously it’s a bit slower when it reads the HDD but nothing too serious, but lately it’s gotten way worse, where it just lags too...
Alright, your propaganda here over the past months has worked. I want to get into Star Trek. Where do I start? Can I take an abbreviated tour? Or do I need to go to TOS?
Veeble | Webdock | Milesweb | Cloudfanatic | Time4vps | Hetzner | Vpsdime | Zap-hosting I’m looking for cheap VPS options. I’m trying to run Syncthing, a caldev server and maybe a searXng instance as well. Also what would be the catch with cheap VPS providers?
Let me be extremely clear that I am not a homewrecker and have never condoned infidelity. This married man is senior to me at work but not my direct boss. We recently worked on a project together for months and had many phone calls for at least an hour, sometimes almost two, nearly all initiated by him. It was mostly about work...
My early teen cousin is learning to play keyboard/piano. She likes to compose her own songs, and she’s good at that, but perhaps could use some help with the basis rhythm....
This might be a stretch but it’s still a game. Does anyone know of a bike trainer program (hopefully at least half decent) that runs natively on Linux? I’ve tried getting Zwift to work through Lutris but have been unsuccessful.
Tried to research this but it only told me how to create one, not view it....
I am in search for a game but can only find it on Steam. I did find someone on CS who had the game build that could launch without Steam but the link is long expired… Do you guys know where it is possible to find Steam less games?? I really don’t want to download Steam just to play 1 game on my laptop.
If the spirit of the fediverse is to spread everything across small instances, then i think it would be really important to make communities, especially niche communities, easier to discover across instances. Since it is not planned to crawl federated instances community catalog, i think instance admins, or maybe even the lemmy...
I just got banned from [email protected], which seems to be the biggest Linux community out there....
I understand that alcoholic beverages are regulated by the ATF and not the FDA, which is why nutrition fact labels aren’t legally required on alcoholic beverages, but why does this carry over to NA beer?...
For those unaware, The Triple-i Initiative is a group of indie studios whose purpose is to highlight fan-favorite games and hype up established indie classics as well as new IPs....
No one expected Liverpool, who were on the verge of excitement, to lose 0-3 to Atlanta in the first round of the Europa League. It must be known that Atlanta, the opposite team, is only the 6th ranked team in Serie A. They have not had many outstanding performances this season and have just gone through a losing streak in the...
I’m considering upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600, they’ve finally come down to $100 locally (tray version sans cooler)....

During the great migration, the trending communities was showing the latest being created. Nowadays, it seems to be a mix of new communities, and empty old communities....
I want to know what was running through the mind of the first guy who thought up mummies. Some guy just came along and said "You know what we need? Dead bodies to last longer! C’mon, who’s with me?”...
So I found a griddle that was in pretty bad shape seasoning wise so I stripped it and noticed a small shiny area which worried me about lead. I ordered some lead tests that stated they were for metal (no specifics) and after doing the tests it came back positive. But this got me wondering if iron reacts with sodium rhodizonate,...
What are your unconventional kitchen tools/utensils you were skeptical of at first but feel you can’t live without?
Next to the house where I live there was an empty lot, where now they’re building a house or something, they’ve been working since last year. At first, I didn’t payed too much attention, but then they started hammering the walls. For what I understand, when building a house you need to make your own walls and don’t use...
We had a little separate room branching off the break room about the size of a powder room with just one table and one chair in it. It was so you could go cry or sleep or just not look at your coworkers on your break if you needed it....
