Any sites you guys use for good quality Premiere League soccer streams? Rip navmix :(

@kWazt Yeah but the issue is finding one site I can use every game that also doesn't have a massive delay from live so I can watch in sync with my friends

Star Trek: Prodigy Is One Of The Most In-Demand TV Shows In The US, Data Shows

I mean, not that surprising under the circumstances.

Tired8281 ,

Cost them my Paramount sub. And I told them that if I was gonna subscribe to a service, just for Star Trek, it darn well better have all of it.

Tired8281 ,

Reminds me of the original series, cancelled right before they started tracking demographics, only to realize it was hitting all the right buttons and they’d killed the golden goose.

I am once again considering to write my own window manager

...unless the setup I am thinking of is already possible, let me construct this in your head:

On the top of the screen, there is narrow status bar, which is split into two parts. On the right side of the bar, you have your clock, your battery, your signal strength and so on.

On the left side, there is a clickable tab for every window you have opened. It's like browser tabs: Every window always uses the entire space below the status bar.

On the far left, there could be an icon which opens a searchable list of applications, kind of like but vertical. Everything supports mouse input as you would expect.

Does that exist? Should I make it? It would be awesome for smaller screens, like phones.

Edit: I should add that I'm planning to run it on a Nokia N900 with a single 600 MHz CPU core, 256 MB RAM and a resolution of 800×480 pixels. Existing full desktop environments like Xfce4, LXDE, and so on are way to heavy to run.

Unless you wanna write your own window manager (all the power to you!) almost any barebones window manager can pretty much be customised to meet your needs with their scripting APIs.

Oh damn, maybe you might wanna write your own for such a specific use case.

You can do this with XMonad and XMobar.

I had a really nice moment last night

I finally formatted one of my 1 TB SSDs as EXT4 to make room for games on my install.

Then, I installed Transport Fever 2 and played it through my

And you know what? It just worked. It was a miracle! I just happily played for an hour without even noticing I'm not running . Zero tinkering. Thanks . ☺

usbpc ,

Awesome that it worked for you! I don’t have the motivation to do that yet, maybe some day Windows becomes so bad that I actually want to switch.

scutiger ,

My experience with Ubuntu was that it took me about as long to get it installed and set up the way I wanted as it would for a Windows installation. To get it up and running barebones is about the same as well, but Windows has so much bloatware and advertising that I refuse to allow on my computer. It also forcibly reinstalls software at every update that I removed previously because I just don’t need/want it there.

I can respect the lack of motivation to commit to learning to use a new OS though. It does take some adjustment, and sometimes there’s no alternative to specific software that you may need. For the most part though, it’s a pretty seamless transition nowadays.

Playing a lot of RDR2 for the first time. The minigame "Five Finger Filet" annoys the hell outta me. So wrote an AutoHotKey script for it. It goes about 12 fillets(?) per round.

` ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.
; ; Enable warnings to assist with detecting common errors.
SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.
SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.

keys := ["s", "d", "a", "s", "a"]

SetKeyDelay, 0, 50
^a::
While !(GetKeyState("x", "P"))
{
for key, val in keys
{
Send {w down}
Sleep 50
Send {w up}
Sleep 100
Send {%val% down}
Sleep 50
Send {%val% up}
Sleep 100
}
}`

Read Dead Redemption 2
Five Finger Fillet
AutoHotKey script
(change the keys array every round).

Edit: Just realized hashtags work!

H2SO4 OP ,

@derekabutton Definitely! I tested it out, but couldn't get it to work in the first try, so took the lazy route and just hardcoded the sequence in.

derekabutton ,

A wise man once told me that technology isn’t about making simple things complicated. It’s about making complicated things simple.

The code for the prompt would probably be twice the size of the rest, and would take quite a bit more time than it would save. Sounds like you had the right idea in leaving it out. I can never keep myself to those obvious limits and it’s always such a waste automating for hours to save seconds lol

Global: ‘Predator Files’ investigation reveals catastrophic failure to regulate surveillance trade

@technology

A new investigation into the global surveillance crisis by the European Investigative Collaborations (EIC) media network, with technical assistance from Amnesty International’s Security Lab, today begins to reveal the shocking truth about how far the industry’s tentacles have spread and how ineffective EU regulation has been in controlling it

Attempting to unsubscribe from a newsletter results in me being "temporarily blocked"

One good day I wound up with a subscription to a site named Schwans, and I was receiving purchase orders from a guy named "John D." for some reason. So, naturally, I tried to unsubscribe. I got an error message saying:

Sorry, you have been temporarily blocked
We have implemented new measures to help protect against fraudulent activity. Something unusual was detected with your access to schwans.com and you’ve been temporarily blocked. Please contact our team at 1-888-724-9267 and provide the Ray ID shown below. We’ll have you back online as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to defend and protect customers from ever-changing cybersecurity threats.

Odd thing, so I go into the main website and unsubscribe manually. All fine and dandy until I start getting these emails AGAIN because Schwans decided to rebrand as Yelloh and that apparently reset their unsubscriptions and back to the same shenanigans we go!

CC @assholedesign

dragonrules ,

Most companies use a service to send their newsletters. You should be able to find the IP address from the email headers and then find the abuse email for that company. Email them, tell them you are unable to unsubscribe and their customer is thus sending you spam. Attach the email headers and 90% of the time they will take action (at least from my informal observation when I used to do this).

N00b22 ,

You can unsubscribe from the mail app I think. If not report as spam

Nah I didn’t say that it’s bad lol. Didn’t mean it that way, at least. The way I understand the “fuck, marry, kill” game is that:

  • Fuck: down to play with it every once in a while
  • Marry: always down to use it
  • Kill: never want to use it

but if someone else wants to play with Rust who am I to stop them

If my dental insurance has 100% coinsurance on preventative and basic care, 70% coinsurance on major care, a deductible of $50, and a maximum payout of $2000, does that mean I can only spend the insurance $ on major services and pay out of pocket for everything else?

compg318 ,

And that negotiated rate they’ll likely match or beat with cash

compg318 ,

Of course! Hopefully they can look into a different future plan. I do know a lot of people who just don’t bother with dental insurance due to the poor coverage overall.

It’s a shame most of the world doesn’t treat dental as medical considering the health risks of not treating those conditions.
