Pretty sure I was able to rearrange icons on my IPod Touch 4 in 2010.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

The Fallout collab I’m still pretty sure I didn’t want

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

‘Fat Man’ is a mini-nuke launcher in fallout, if you weren’t aware.

Also, what happened on 4chan?

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I realize the origin of the name. Also, Little Boy. Either way, the person above wasn’t talking about ‘mad logs’. The mini nuke ammo in Fallout looks exactly like what’s in the photo here.

I’m also aware of that video, unfortunately. I’ve been wise enough to never watch it. I didn’t realize it had anything to do with 4chan though, does it? Internet sources say it was posted on eFukt originally, then a standalone website.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

idk, we could ask the person who made the comment.

My first interpretation was that the other earlier comment was saying there was some sort of re-enactment of 1M1C on 4chan.

Anyone else have this happen after grabbing a coffee?

I grab a cup coffee from a shop and it’s ruined because the barista is wearing cologne or perfume that inevitably has gotten on the cup and it’s all I can smell when I take a sip. I guess 2 things, this means 1 they haven’t thoroughly washed their hands, and 2 I can’t drink the coffee because it smells so bad and I have...

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

yes! YES!

I have serious issues with fragrances. Artificial fragrances in particular (i.e. most ones) but even essential oils get to me after a while. When I’m around cologne, air freshener, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner fumes, I can taste it for quite a while. It’s completely vile. Extended exposure makes my eyes red, my lips swell a bit, and just a little makes me start oddly salivating. I guess it’s some sort of allergy, maybe MCAS, but this sort of thing is very difficult to get diagnosed. Some doctors have acted like I have some sort of uh… misphonia but for smells, but no, I can detect scents quite accurately. One reason I may be sensitive is I’m not completely swamped in 10 different fragrances 24/7 like most people.

The only thing that really works is to wash my nose out with water. Not super sanitary, but it’s better than salivating and tasting perfume for an hour. I have found that taking antihistamines reduces my sensitivity… I can still detect the fragrances, but get less of a reaction. That’s a clue. Oh, and also I have 3 different autoimmune disorders… I’ve asked around and the only people I’ve gotten a “yes, that happens to me too” response from are people with MS.

Lotion is particularly weird. Not sure what they put in it, but just smelling it makes my lips numb for a few minutes.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

They’re perforated to half the size that paper towels typically used to be. It’s common now but wasn’t in the past.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Elon Musk says it a lot. Same conclusion.

@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Palestine seems like 60% of what I hear about in national news and on Lemmy. Ukraine, though, no so much. People can’t use it to talk shit about Biden, after all.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, 100% agree. No coincidence Netanyahu is a far right fascist and would prefer Trump himself.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s allowed for certain types of vehicles, so people illicitly put it in to regular vehicles as well and gas stations turn a blind eye.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I have an ancient PC with a nice video card, and it plays games from about five years ago quite well I haven’t felt a need to upgrade. Unfortunately, I play a couple games with kernel level anti-cheat stuff and I don’t think they will work with linux.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I think actually I was thinking the extra-high octane gas labeled ‘for collector vehicles only’.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It prevents knocking in sensitive vintage vehicles, which were designed for leaded gas, too. That article also covers why ethanol can be harmful for them.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Shorting stocks is LIFE

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t really think it was intentional, but that’s the generous, optimistic interpretation.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It was a while ago. Apparently they thought their vision was more to be a self contained forum than connected to everyone else and also that it was “safer”.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That makes sense. I recall some people saying it was contrary to the ethos of the Fediverse but I don’t blame Beehaw. It’s perfectly legitimate to use Lemmy as a self contained forum or to restrict federation as the admins see fit.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Seems like it should be SSL.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, because people were trained to look for the lock icon, though pretty much every site has it now, whether it’s something that necessitates security vs just privacy benefits. Maybe looking for the lock is outdated, idk, but it was emphasized a lot a few years ago.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

True, I wouldn’t expect people to know the terms ssl or tls. My point is, it’s a far, far more common application of cryptography than cryptocurrency.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

In what way? And they supposedly have any clue what crypto currency actually means?

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I’m amazed people are acting like they think nobody has ever heard of this. I suppose it was more a 2010-2015 thing.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I read this as melanin and it was even more confusing.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

They’ve had this for a while. The cheat code is to change the url to old reddit.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

I believe it’s a reference to the problems caused by the fucked up abortion laws going on recently, not about payment (though that’s its own concern). From a quick search:

theguardian.com/…/pregnant-women-denied-care-us-h…

One woman miscarried in the restroom lobby of a Texas emergency room as front desk staff refused to admit her to the hospital.

Another related issue is that rural areas, especially in right wing hellholes that have passed such laws, are increasingly short on access to obestrician services and doctors of that specialty. Some people who used to live 40 miles from the nearest hospital with Ob/Gyn now live 100 miles away and lack transportation.

He would leave NATO as soon as possible. No normal politician has ever suggested this before because it’s completely insane. It’s obvious Putin bullshit since it’s 100% against the best interests of the US and Europe, and only benefits Russia. It’s also a distortion that the EU doesn’t fund their part in NATO… a few countries spend less than they should, the rest are perfectly fine on that metric.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Taking his public statements at face value sure is not “fearmongering”. This deranged grandpa is often cited for “telling it like it is!!” so why would we not believe he means specifically what he says?

Russia being a threat to Europe isn’t exactly surprising considering that threat is the entire reason NATO exists.

Tesla’s in its flop era (www.theverge.com)

When Tesla releases its first quarter earnings this afternoon, the company’s CEO Elon Musk will field the usual questions about new products, new factories, and progress toward its futuristic vision of self-driving cars and robot workers. But Musk will also face increasingly urgent questions about its current state of affairs...

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not just his image. He’s an awful manager and has made some atrocious decision in the last few years affecting Tesla employees, customers and shareholders… even people who don’t buy teslas due to the unsafe FSD. He’s made Tesla a financial and physical danger to the public.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Some people are still claiming that.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

There’s no way in fucking hell ever that I would go into one of Muck’s underground death traps. It’s such an insanely dumb idea.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s attributed to John Maynard Keynes.

@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Wow… definitely Florida. The first two minutes told me everything I ever need to know about Tan Mom (sorry, “just Mom”).

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

It’s amazing that not only did they fuck up the regex, but only changed how the link was displayed and not where it linked to. And somehow their org is fucked up enough that someone not only wrote this incompetent code but it went into production.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Nope, why would someone register carfatwitter.com if that was the case?

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Are you serious?

As of April 8, 2024, the iOS Twitter (now X) client automatically replaces the text “twitter.com” in posts with “x.com” as part of its functionality. Therefore, for example, a URL that appears to be “netflix.com” will actually redirect to “netflitwitter.com” when clicked.

As another X user (@Arcticstar0) pointed out, “the actual link is unchanged. It’s just the text placeholder that appears different. So the link goes to a different url than it appears.”

It could work the way you’re describing with the same effect, but that’s not what’s being described.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Just optics, I guess? Probably some urgent drug-induced decree from Elron. They still have tons of references to Twitter in various parts of the site. The transition to the ‘x’ domain (which yes, Musk has owned since 1999) was rushed, hasty, and poorly done, not to mention incredibly stupid from a business perspective.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

Marginalized non-white people working for him while afraid of the consequences of quitting or disagreeing must take him back to his childhood.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

No, apparently what happens is people post netflitwitter.com, linking to netfltwitter.com, and the X app changes the visible link text to netflix.com but not the link target.

The way you’re describing it is the reverse, like people post netflix.com and the link is changed to netflitwitter.com. That’s not what they’re doing. Or, if it was that people posted netflitwitter.com and it linked to netflix.com, how would that be a problem?

zeppo , (edited )
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

That COULD be what happened, and it would have a similar effect, but it wasn’t what happened. If you read information about this that becomes apparent. They didn’t change the link target, they changed the link text only.

Someone registers spacetwitter.com and sets up an adversarial site. They then make an “X” post mentioning spacetwitter.com. The app creates a link to spacetwitter.com but changes the text to say spacex.com.

Please read this: krebsonsecurity.com/…/twitters-clumsy-pivot-to-x-…

On April 9, Twitter/X began automatically modifying links that mention “twitter.com” to read “x.com” instead. But over the past 48 hours, dozens of new domain names have been registered that demonstrate how this change could be used to craft convincing phishing links — such as fedetwitter[.]com, which until very recently rendered as fedex.com in tweets.

Notice how it says modifying links that mention “twitter.com” to read “x.com” instead.

He’s been forcing blue checks on people since the initial change - with Stephen King, for instance. Basically a way to promote the program and make it look like prominent people are paying, but also a confused mix with the previous verification checks.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

We could start a social network called UUayland and really confuse things.

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

“dem boyz”. huh, wonder what he might possibly mean there.

Musk Admits He Doesn't Fact-Check Himself and Has Two Burner Accounts on Twitter (www.rollingstone.com)

Elon Musk‘s erratic posting on X, formerly Twitter, has come back to haunt him once again as a 22-year-old Jewish man pursues a defamation case over tweets in which the tech mogul baselessly suggested the recent college graduate was an undercover federal agent posing as a neo-Nazi during a street fight between far-right...

zeppo ,
@zeppo@lemmy.world avatar

“incentivizing and feeding information for possible murder of an individual” is the dramatic excuse musk used, correct. “Assassination coordinates”. I’m not sure where you got incentivized from though. They were accounts that discussed the elonjet account which republished freely available public flight information. Note that musk reinstated these accounts:

theguardian.com/…/elon-musk-reinstates-twitter-ac…

As the platform owner, there are also other ways he could reduce the reach of accounts, which would be difficult to independently prove.
