It certainly wasn't a well-made novel, too much bleeding from the wounds, but none the worse for that. It has an intensity and sharpness, and sometimes it's better not to blunt the edges of a story with artifice.

If a counselor has a transgender client, and has used the gender dysphoria code and many others (7 pages of ICD codes) then they will be retroactively stripped of funding. I am so angry for clients and for providers. As a clinician, I feel so mad that states are telling transgender youth in lower SES that they can't be who they truly are, and now they can't even talk to a counselor. It would be interesting to hear how many of these institutions do offer a TT position.
I think for the equivalent Wellcome ECF program, a proleptic appointment is fairly rare, although not unheard of - we have an ECF with a proleptic, although they had already done a (short) postdoc before getting the ECF.
