It’s a stinky pun; and a dad who tells a pun is stinky because he’s a pun-gent; by apparent logico-deductive inference, !dadjokes. 😛

@fubo Ok, I'll edit this post then! (Let's see… what happens. I can delete it if things go bad.)

I made a Magazine called Photobiomodulation (https://kbin.social/m/photobiomodulation/) for the discussion of this topic on the Fediverse. I've left Reddit behind, and am recreating this community here.

This is really what Strange New Worlds is most about: giving us precious knowledge about what our heros in the original Star Trek were all doing before we met them on the Enterprise in the TV sets in our living rooms in the 1960s

I respectfully disagree. I don’t think the most important parts of this show are the things it depicts legacy characters doing, though your review mentions little else.

Given your clear fondness for TOS, I’d be interested in reading you compare the two more!

PaulLev OP ,
@PaulLev@mastodon.social avatar

@ikesau Thanks for the comment. To read what I think of non-legacy characters in Strange New Worlds, try some of my reviews of other episodes of the series (for example, the time-travel episode in which Singh and Kirk are the main characters, and I discuss Singh as much as Kirk).

I'm so excited, I got a handful of co-op and escape room board games, as well as puzzles, to play with friends on my vacation this summer.

Learning about cooperative board games was life-changing. I do not enjoy games that pit ppl against each other. I am weary of competition.

I grabbed several Unlock! Titles, Burgle Boys 1&2, and Pandemic along with two expansion packs for it.

I did get one non co-op game, Steam Up, a Dim Sun game.

Seems so to me. I’m on lemmy. I can see it just fine

SheeEttin ,

Does it not give you a link field? It shows up for me as a text link in the body of the post.

And at least on my client (Connect), trying to tag a community in the title doesn’t work, it just shows the link markup raw.

Also your hashtags are links back to mastodon. I don’t think those are useful for Lemmy users.

YSK: You can now log in to Pixelfed using your Mastodon account

EDIT: Not sure when this was implemented, but I first saw this post here - https://lemmy.fmhy.ml/post/686097

I just went through it. He’s correct. It still makes you create a separate account, it just copies some information from your mastodon account.

how about this post from the dev planning to use same account for Mastoson and pixelfed?

You can follow from your fedi account but it doesn't differentiate between posts and replies so they all appear in your feed. They should fix that, it'd be nice.

I’m looking for a self hosted solution to this problem:

I want to create a full text search index from a collection of PDF manuals (text, not images, I don’t care about OCR here). There is a UI to search for text matches in documents, and clicking a search hit opens the PDF scrolled to where the search hit is (bonus points if the search hit is hilighted)

IlIllIIIllIlIlIIlI ,

I’m using it with ocr and it does highlight the search text and scrolls to it.

Carunga ,

U r right, it does highlight in the pdf. It did not on mobile for me.

Pretty cool how the Fediverse works right? You can directly follow the Linux Gaming Lemmy instance (it's like an open source Reddit).

Reddit removes years of chat and message archives from users' accounts

You might be able to get a copy of older messages from the data retrieval request.

This is probably cost reduction. I know they have a significant amount of redis. That’s all in-memory database storage.

Hello, we are migrating legacy chats to the new platforms and, unfortunately, only data for 2023 is replicated.

So they knew this would happen and still didn’t notify users in advance so they could save their message history?

Sound pretty on-brand for that shitwagon.
