Well of course I know him, he is me… I haven’t found a job yet but this post pretty much sums a lot my personal projects.

Entropywins ,

Personal projects = it’ll work until it doesn’t

Professional projects = I’m hiding in the MDF hoping no one finds me

Dude, I’m so bad at arguing in zoom so the guys that push for that shit get their way. Fml.

Reddfugee42 ,

Have you considered you’re just bad at arguing in general and it’s not the medium?

magic_lobster_party ,

Difficult to punch coworkers in their face in zoom

That’s so true. Well before the 20s is up I’m already making edits to the code to preempt the imminent runtime error then recompile and continue the cycle…

emberpunk , in Software Archeology

what about when you stumble upon an old post of yours?

Evilsandwichman ,

I’ll do you one worse and I’ve posted this before: when you make a post looking for help on an esoteric problem, and then solve it and just reply ‘nvm fixed it’, and then years later have the same problem but when you go looking for the solution only find your old posts.

nonfuinoncuro ,

One day Shizuo Kakutani . . . was teaching a class at Yale. He wrote down a lemma on the blackboard and announced that the proof was obvious. One student timidly raised his hand and said that it wasn’t obvious to him. Could Kakutani explain? After several moments’ thought, Kakutani realized that he could not himself prove the lemma. He apologized, and said that he would report back at their next class meeting.

After class, Kakutani went straight to his office. He labored for quite a time and found that he could not prove the pesky lemma. He skipped lunch and went to the library to track down the lemma. After much work, he finally found the original paper. The lemma was stated clearly and succinctly. For the proof, the author had written, “Exercise for the reader.” The author of this 1941 paper was Kakutani.

Gork ,

I’ve had that happen before lol

I was like wait this sounds familiar

FiniteLooper ,

This has happened a few times were I find a solution on stack overflow, I go to upvote the answer and I get the error message “you can’t upvote your own post”

Yep, that was my answer to my own question from 5 years ago

you curse the past you for being so selfish

Tabitha ,

I have stumbled upon myself being the only person who asked, who asked years ago, and still got no answer.

walter_wiggles , in Software Archeology

Found a solution, thanks everyone!

walter_wiggles ,

Wait what was the solution?

walter_wiggles ,

YOUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED BECAUSE YOU DARED TO COMMENT WITHOUT PROVIDING THE EXACT SOLUTION FOR OP’s PROBLEM (shame on you)

SuddenDownpour ,

Ok, I’ll open another thread, then.

REMOVED, DUPLICATE.

MonkeMischief ,

Ah, the Arch forum/stack experience. Along with

“Problem still exists like 2 years later.”

“DON’T NECRO. CLOSED.”

Yes, most of my jobs have had people who take vacation.

Reddfugee42 ,

Oh I hate that

paw , in Software Archeology

Maybe AI can help here, since it is trained on stack overflow and co. ;)

Romkslrqusz , in Software Archeology

The new version of this is coming across a reddit post where it seems like OP replies “Thanks, that worked!” to “In protest of Reddit’s API changes, I have removed my comment history. Fuck u/Spez”

keepcarrot , in Software Archeology

I love it when people link to such posts as if they’re a solution as well

foo , in Software Archeology

Another variation of this is when you used Google, and the responses to the post say “Use Google”, or links to lmgtfy.
