this feels like a departmental rule to cover their own ass. during the trial of the murder of Daniel Shaver, the jury wasn’t allowed to know that the killing officer had “you’re fucked” laser etched on the ejection port cover of the AR he used. this is a “hiding the symptoms” thing
A scary large number of people still seem to see him as a genius. It sounds dumb to those who pay any real attention, but those that don’t still (in my experience) see him as smart.
You mean give them something to latch onto if they win or lose? If Kamala wins don’t expect just Jan 6 to be a bad date, Nov 9, Jan 20-21, etc etc. if they win, they get to point at this “egregious overstep” and do more asshatery.
You don’t need it. D.C. is an exception to Posse Comitatus. What’s likely is the Guard will be activated but not on site. So they’ll be about 30 minutes away if the police are getting overrun again. But I would be very surprised if the Metro and Capitol Police don’t do an all hands day and even more surprised if a crowd got through that. It would almost certainly require a use of force by the crowd that rises to armed insurrection anyway. At which point the NG gets the go ahead and either the 82nd or 101st (whoever has the alert brigade that month) gets a mass recall text. They probably wouldn’t deploy but those options have to start lining up early to be ready in case some large organized militia actually turns it into a fight.
The chances of things getting that far are statistically indescribable but that’s the reaction chain.
Dumping Twitter wasn’t even a slight wrench. It descended into the toilet pretty quickly after Musk took over. I occasionally sneak back to Reddit, although the experience isn’t that great. But Twitter? Nopes from me even though I liked it previously very much.
its easy when you don’t have any managing to do. the dude’s effectively unemployed. truly a testament to the real value that CEOs add to the economy. zero, if not less.
Honestly I don’t even know if I believe they are better than average, like fund managers guessing stocks. I bet if you took like 7 people who were retired from the industry (rotate them out every couple years) and had them vote on every decision a CEO would make, the company would be better off. And you could pay the whole group a fraction of what the CEO made.
The worst fucking part is that NPR has reacted to this shit by over-correcting and becoming obviously right-leaning in their reporting on US news. It’s a fucking joke. I guess all it takes to stop press from being “free” is a bunch of violent assholes willing to threaten to rape you family. Who would’ve thought.
