Andrew Tate…has repeatedly claimed that prosecutors have no evidence against him and that there is a political conspiracy to silence him.

More ego. He merely wishes he was important enough to “silence”.

Tate, you’re a criminal ex-kickboxer who spouts a bunch of nonsense online. Assholes like you are a dime a dozen. Nobody cares as much as you’d like them to.

SnotFlickerman , (edited )
@SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

SpaceX is polluting like a motherfucker, breaking ecological laws all over the place, and the only reason they don’t get hammered is because they’re in fucking Texas. It’s the same for anything safety related in the company as well. This is the guy who “didn’t like yellow” so he demanded that all warning signs not be as visible. SpaceX is a fucking OSHA inspectors god damned nightmare. Once again, jack shit happens because he’s in Texas and the Governor and AG are outright protecting him.

Can we stop sucking the dick of tech companies that fuck up the planet, ignore safety laws, and are raping the public for a quick buck?

Fuck Musk, Fuck SpaceX, and fucking grow up, none of these people are good people if they’re willing to sell their souls and lives to these assholes to get the job done. Especially when they’re willing to ignore safety rules at the expense of their own workers to do it. They can all die in a fucking fire for all I care. (And if they have their way with safety rules, it will fucking happen!)

EDIT: Also, pro-tip: We’re never actually going to fucking Mars. We can barely function in a biosphere actually specifically attuned to us. If you’re all in on this Mars shit, you’ve been taken for a ride by a fucking charlatan. It’s literally unsurvivable and we don’t have the technology to change that. We can’t even terraform our own planet, with life and water on it. We could be actually spending money on fixing our biosphere but I guess rich asshole ambitions to be the King of Mars plays better than fucking reality to a lot of chumps.

skillissuer ,

hddsx ,

SpaceX is blocking access to a public beach because Musk is still involved. Hell, SpaceX is in Texas because of Musk. SpaceX’s work culture is because Musk is a prick.

Everything you mentioned about SpaceX is really Musk. As I said, SpaceX would be better without Musk.

And mars is pipe dream.

But science is cool. Being able to do zero gravity experiments is cool. SpaceX has the only reliable rocket right now - and it’s beating the competition by a healthy margin

Also, I’m glad that you are in a position to turn down jobs. Some people aren’t.

SnotFlickerman ,
@SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

If you’re working at SpaceX, you’re not exactly struggling to find a job because you’re not easily replaced. You’re not flipping burgers, or some other job that is coded as “low skill labor.” They don’t hire janitorial directly, they contract out those kind of jobs.

But sure, somehow engineers at SpaceX aren’t on a position to turn down jobs. Get the fuck out of here with this shit.

Also, I’d prefer science that actually helps our biosphere, which last I checked, lots of that science can be done on terra firma. Very little of it needs to be done in space. It’s a lot of waste for somewhere that doesn’t help us survive as a species in the short-term and only maybe helps us survive in the long-term. Space science can fucking eat it.

There’s lots of public sector jobs. Oh no! They pay less. Whatever will these people do with… less money! Seriously give me a fucking break.

hddsx ,

H1B

SnotFlickerman ,
@SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

So the H1B system is a mess entirely of it’s own and that happens to folks who came via H1B visas at any job.

You’re not convincing me that we should feel bad for these specific people at SpaceX because of a systemic issue. I feel bad for them due to the nature of the system, not because they chose to work at SpaceX, specifically. That was still a choice, and while they’re still in their parent country, still a decision they can say “no” to. It’s a choice borne of exploitation at its core, and the fact that SpaceX employs so many H1B workers should be viewed as another negative against the company instead of another reason to let the company off the hook.

partial_accumen ,

So your argument is against spaceflight in general? Modern technology, like the computer or phone you’re using now to post, wouldn’t exist without spaceflight.

ARPAnet literally was developed without spaceflight what the fuck are you talking about mate lmao

IBM has been making computation devices since 1911… 8 years after the first human flight on a plane. They made punch-cards for the Nazi’s to track people for fucks sake.

…but sure, they wouldn’t exist without spaceflight.

partial_accumen ,

ARPAnet literally was developed without spaceflight what the fuck are you talking about mate lmao

Indirectly ARPAnet was partially created to respond to threats from spaceflight, specifically nuclear ICBMs. However we don’t even need to argue that one because there’s a much more direct link I’m referring to.

IBM has been making computation devices since 1911… 8 years after the first human flight on a plane. They made punch-cards for the Nazi’s to track people for fucks sake.

Why is it the computer that you’re posting from isn’t the size of a large room or even a full sized refrigerator? Miniaturization is the answer. Why did miniaturization of computers happen? Spaceflight.

“NASA gave IBM $26.6million to build a computer capable of running the necessary programs, and the specifications were brutal. IBM had to create a system capable of proving the feasibility of docking in space, all packed into a box no bigger than 19in high, 15in wide, 13in deep, and weighing less than 60 pounds.”

We can barely function in a biosphere actually specifically attuned to us.

This is such a hilarious misunderstanding. Like the earth was created for people to live in. When in fact the earth was teaming with life way before humanity existed, and we are the ones that are attuned to this ecosphere. Not the other way around.

Douglas Adams described it brilliantly:

This is rather as if you imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, 'This is an interesting world I find myself in — an interesting hole I find myself in — fits me rather neatly, doesn’t it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it.

This is what I’m counting on. I think he’d rather fight the laws in court than willingly reduce the size and reach of his bullshit machine. What he’ll learn, though, is that the judges and lawmakers of the EU aren’t standing in line to kiss his ass, like they are here in the US. I will love watching him bankrupt himself because he’s so emotionally immature, he’s determined to fight a stupid, unwinnable battle.

SnotFlickerman , in The steel plant that saved Vance’s family from poverty is getting $500M from Biden. One worker says that ‘doesn’t really change anything’
@SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Are we really pretending the “divide” in this country is about economics?

It’s been proven time and time again that Trump voters were more likely to be business owners not the poor dirtbags who work for them. The people who work for them, those people say they’re Trump voters, but you can’t really count on meth addicts to show up to vote.

The federal funding “doesn’t really change anything,” said Tyler Kirby, who sat outside the steel plant on a simmering July night, eating a hamburger and waiting for the start of his 12-hour overnight shift fixing cranes.

Overnight 12 hour shift? Yeah this guy isn’t gonna wait all day in line to fucking vote in Ohio. His boss is the guy actually voting for Trump.

Let’s call it what it is. We have the evidence. The evidence is that what drives them is racism, misogyny, and “pissing off liberals.” They don’t give a damn about the money, they are filled with hate, and no amount of money will suddenly change that. JD Vance and Peter Thiel are fucking proof of it.

Samvega ,

People, as a group, aren’t completely amenable to reason. If they were, they’d start from their stated beliefs of “children are innocent” and “children must be supported” and conclude that the only possible logically and morally acceptable resulting outcome would be to feed all children.

That hungry children exist, and that this isn’t a scandal which the majority of people who hold beliefs about importance of children are regularly talking about seriously trying to address, it seems that some other factors must motivate them more. Two likely candidates, to me, are convenience and status. If you can conveniently gain status by demeaning outgroups then, amazingly, you can do very little and potentially gain a lot! “I might not have an education, and I might be on minimum wage, but at least I’m not Mexican / a feminist / an atheist” etc.

Same people are probably 100% fine with the government not allowing women access to modern birth control and reproductive care choices.

They have this fantasy where they imagine “no government” would be awesome. Meanwhile, there’s plenty of shithole countries without a functioning government. They could move to one of those if they are serious and want to try that kind of life.

Samvega ,

They have this fantasy where they imagine “no government” would be awesome.

“Woo! I can do what I want!” When many people want to make their immediate environment worse for everybody, even themselves, to the point that they make each other miserable. We can prove this by putting right-wing libertarians on the moon together. Some would be begging to come back within a week.

It is pretty funny that many small/no government movements end up creating governments because of fucking course they do. No laws sounds great until other people start doing shit you don’t like. Also funny is how many freedom loving Republicans live in HOAs. They love rugged individualism as long as it looks exactly like theirs.

We should start listening to these people then and start giving them what they’re asking for: No help at all and an expectation that these chucklefucks “pull themselves up by their own bootstraps” like they’ve told everyone the fuck else for a hundred years.

You keep voting to get no help? Okay, you got it. We’ll never help your stupid asses again. That’s what you wanted, right? To succeed by your own hard work and nothing else? Let’s see how it works out for you considering we’ve been propping up your economic dead weight areas for decades.

As a taxpayer, I’m more than happy to stop giving these fucking losers money if they keep saying they don’t want any of it.
