@GoofSchmoofer@lemmy.world avatar

…And yet they are all still billionaires.

Remember this in the future when you hear these people complain about higher taxes, they weathered this “loss” quite easily. So they can weather the “loss” of some of their wealth to actually support the country that allowed them to make billions in the first place.

Please do show that the candidate the Nazis don’t want is Kamala Harris. I’m sure that will convince people to vote for Trump.

Thebeardedsinglemalt ,

Pimp up the fact this year is the 80th anniversary of D-Day, do a huge push for the soldiers who lost their lives on the beaches of Normandy and the few remaining brave veterans who put their lives on the line to fight Nazis and fascism in Europe…then quick-fade to these neo-nazis fuckstains who want to eliminate Kamala Harris and how much they support the Dorito Musollini.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Let’s remember how Trump commemorated that anniversary: msnbc.com/…/d-day-anniversary-biden-speech-trump-…

I can’t believe we’re not over all this trivial shit.

givesomefucks ,

This is what happens when our leaders are a decade plus over retirement age.

People forget Bill and Obama were in their 40s, for some reason we just forgot we could run younger candidates

Kamala really should be the upper age range we look at for first term presidents. If everything goes well they’re signing up for an 8 year commitment.

kent_eh ,

I can’t believe we’re not over all this trivial shit.

Maybe one day Dr.King’s dream will come true.

I’m increasingly annoyed that it won’t be during my lifetime, though.

Hopefully my kids will live long enough to see it happen.

OlinOfTheHillPeople ,

The Republicans have run the same racist candidate for three elections in a row now, because they like these kinds of statements.

Seleni ,

Thin of those white kids screaming at the little black girls coming into their school (under military escort for safety) back in 1957, those white teens spitting on black teens doing soda fountain sit-ins in the 60s… and remember they’re adults now, with kids and even grandkids of their own.

Do you really think they taught their families to be open-hearted and to respect people of color?

This issue is getting better, but it’s got a long way to go yet. Things like this echo through time.

oxjox , in Texas newlywed, 23, gets 40 years for decapitating wife, 21, in brutal murder just 3 months after wedding
@oxjox@lemmy.ml avatar

Waller County does not tolerate domestic violence. Heinous crimes like this one will not go unanswered, we will seek justice for the victims of domestic violence and send a message to the perpetrators that here, we fight for our victims,” [Waller County District Attorney] Whitmore said in a statement.

[Sheriff] Guidry said in his press conference that deputies had been called to the couple’s residence for reports of domestic violence on more than one occasion before Diaz’s death.

Seems to me like the county isn’t on the same page with how they deal with domestic violence. I’d say a beheading is far worse than a gun shot but if this were a gun crime, I feel like there’d be more outrage with lack of gun restrictions. Maybe if states took domestic violence more seriously we could avoid some instances of murder regardless of the weapon.

bobs_monkey ,

It’s Texas, they don’t take kindly to gun restrictions

nightofmichelinstars ,

    Linkerbaan OP , (edited ) in Journal still can't confirm January story about UN agency for Palestinians
    @Linkerbaan@lemmy.world avatar

    Some more lines from the article about the NYT and WSJ defense:

    “The fact that the Israeli claims haven’t been backed up by solid evidence doesn’t mean our reporting was inaccurate or misleading, that we have walked it back or that there is a correctable error here,” Elena Cherney, the chief news editor, wrote in an email earlier this year seen by Semafor.

    That one of the paper’s biggest and most impactful stories about the war was based on information it could not verify is a startling acknowledgement, and calls into question the validity of the claims as reported in the Journal. The piece had major reverberations internally and raised serious concerns among some staff. According to three people familiar with the situation, since the story was published earlier this year, reporters have tried and failed to corroborate the 10% claim at the center of the story. Journalists working on the Middle East coverage for the Journal have also since raised concerns about elements of the paper’s coverage of the war more broadly that some feel tip too heavily toward Israel.

    @apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world avatar

    This state is full of theocratic fascists. Even in Democratic primaries like Bush v Bell, Bell is funded by theocratic fascists at AIPAC intending to split the liberal voters and black voters and pit them against each other.

    cogman ,

    I really struggle to understand how keeping innocent people behind bars is popular with anyone. The only thing I can come up with is that the people kept behind bars are some racial or religious minority.

    I would have thought “this guy is stopping the release of exonerated people” would upset a lot of people.
