LostWanderer , in What can a city do when neo-Nazis start marching down its streets?

They are being disruptive in a way that isn’t kind; arrests would be the best way to deal with them. They are white nationalists, shouting slurs at black people who are fellow citizens in the USA, we should not let them believe this behavior will go unpunished. It will make it worse in the future, enabling hate groups to thrive is something a sane country should never allow.

Gointhefridge , in MAGA outraged over Green Day's "severed" Trump head that's really just a mask

Wait till they hear about GWAR.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I really do not like metal at all, but I saw a GWAR show for free at DragonCon in the 1990s and it was absolutely amazing. I don’t know that I would go again myself, but it’s a terrific show even if you’re not a fan of the music.

it’s a terrific show even if you’re not a fan of the music.

This is true for a good number of metal bands.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I can imagine. My wife said the same thing in the same era when she took her little brother to see Rammstein.

some_guy ,

You should see a modern show by Ghoul. Gwar probably did it “better,” but Ghoul is keeping it fun.

Pacmanlives ,

Yuuup they have been cutting the heads off presidents since like Reagan for their show. First one I saw was for Biden it was well done. 11 out of 10 will see them again. My white shirt is ready

schnurrito , in Trump says he has 'no choice' but to support electric vehicles because Elon Musk 'endorsed me very strongly'

But Musk has more recently embraced conservative politics, especially the issue of free speech. Musk bought Twitter in 2022, rebranded it to X, and has dismantled many of the checks and balances meant to limit hateful speech and misinformation on the platform.

Why is free speech a conservative cause nowadays? It should not be.

boobs_ ,

Because what it actually means is the freedom for them to spew their hate speech without consequences. Freedom of their speech, not others’. They hate being “punished” for their hateful ideologies and view it as censorship. Being able to spread their hateful beliefs to large groups is extremely important in propagating it to other people. Conservative created platforms are inherently limited by the fact that their audience is not only quite small but also everyone there already believes their bullshit. They want and need to place their hate in mainstream places where others will see it and hopefully come to believe it

There’s also the bonus effect of reducing both the amount and proportion of non-conservative voices.

someguy3 , in Prosecutors plan to charge former Kansas police chief over his conduct following newspaper raid

“If we raid it now, all our problems will go away in a week.”

dogslayeggs , in Conservationists Say 'Bizarre' Dead Bear Incident Proves 'Terrible' Judgment of RFK Jr.

I’m less concerned about dumping the dead bear in Central Park than I am with the decision making to even have a dead bear to dump.

mozz ,
@mozz@mbin.grits.dev avatar

His friend hit it with her car, and he decided he wanted to take the body home and cut it up for meat.

The decision to get out of your car and start fuckin' with the dead bear cub's body, just assuming that it has no family in the area, seems to me like honestly the most serious mistake of the entire bad idea adventure.

EmpathicVagrant ,

Okay but to me that falls apart when it’s followed up with ‘oh I have a flight to catch I better just dump it in central fucking park’

If you knew there were plans you can’t miss, you definitely don’t have time to dress and butcher a bear.

Guy’s friends we’re all drunk but he super defininitely wasn’t? Was one of the drunk friends driving?

ValenThyme ,

cocaine makes all of it make sense

vaultdweller013 ,

And the worm.

IsThisAnAI ,

Rfk jr has been pretty actively in recovery after a bad heroin and LSD addiction. He’s been, in the public, known to be this crazy since he was a kid. IMO if he relapsed he’d be dead and it wouldn’t be cocaine.

floofloof ,

Are we sure his “friend” isn’t just him?

PythagreousTitties ,

His worm friend.

clgoh ,

Possibly getting brain worms might be the worst part.

PythagreousTitties ,

Im flabbergasted about needing to put a bicycle next to it for some reason. They added that to their “plan”.

These people were also full grown 60 year old adults.

FlyingSquid ,

Bicycles: notorious bear killers.

chiliedogg ,

The whole thing is a remarkable string of bad decisions. I’m a little impressed.

TheLowestStone ,
@TheLowestStone@lemmy.world avatar

One of his hobbies when he was younger was hanging out with his hawk (who may or may not have been trained to kill cops) next to a pit full of rotting cow carcasses. It blows my mind that anyone would consider someone this unhinged a viable candidate for president.

wowyoureallysaidthat , in RFK Jr admits to dumping bear carcass in New York's Central Park

Girl, what?

njm1314 , in Conservationists Say 'Bizarre' Dead Bear Incident Proves 'Terrible' Judgment of RFK Jr.

Say there are some things conservatives in the rest of us can agree on.

PythagreousTitties ,

The headline doesn’t say conservatives.
I thought it did too.

BackOnMyBS , in Bloomberg apologizes for premature story on prisoner swap and disciplines the journalists involved
@BackOnMyBS@lemmy.autism.place avatar

So what was the error? That they published a story 4 hours before the US Fed Govt had authorized disseminating the info?

johker216 ,

Russia could’ve turned the aircraft around and scuttled the deal. The government wanted the news of the exchange to only take place after the prisoners touched US soil and couldn’t be kidnapped back to Russia.

PumpkinEscobar ,

It’s not uncommon on sensitive stories like this for the government to loop-in journalists ahead of time so they can pull together background and research with an agreed-upon embargo until some point in the future.

This wasn’t the US government telling the newspaper they couldn’t report on a story they had uncovered from their own investigation.

njm1314 , in New homes are getting smaller. That could be big news for first-time buyers
